And Gordon Edwards (the fellow in the video with the big curly hair and sunglasses who sang a verse in the song). Mega-talented, both him and the lot of them!
Such tight harmonies. Anybody know what guitar Peter Tolson is playing? Looks like a strat that's been hacked about. The neck looks loke it's off a Hohner ST59
This is one of the better British bands that never made it big in America. That's probably because we had such lame-assed radio stations. Would you believe that this is the only song that I ever heard on the radio?
I was working at Peaches Records and Tapes at the time this album arrived in our bins. This is when I really got into Pretty Things which are still alive an well today.
Silk Torpedo and Savage Eye are The Pretty Things 2 BEST albums IMHO. Some will argue about their late 60s as the essentials, but Silk and Savage were the goods. Its just a shame that they have to cut the song. Why??????
Curiously I find Silk Torpedo to be the one CD of all their Gold reissues to have been remastered far too loudly. You can see on Audacity where they've hacked off all of the sound wave peaks to bring the volume up. I wish they hadn't dome it like that because it gives you a headache after a while! Or did you mean that there's a brand new version coming out soon? Still, it's a brilliant album anyway, I agree.
Remember when the music mags were promoting this Didn't pay attention then unfortunately Great band. Also the band with the first actual concept album "HMS Sorrow". Before "Tommy".
Too bad Gordon Edwards (rhythm guitar here) wrecked himself with heroine. A brilliant pianist, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter - at his best with Jack Green, as evidenced by most of the songs on this album.
I was under the impression Peter Tolson played bass on most of this album. RIP Gordon Edwards, very talented. I hope you eventually got the royalties you earned.
RIP Great Phil May! Capo!
R.I.P. Phil May,...a great talent who with the Pretty Things inspired many musicians,..including Bowie!
RIP pretty well all of them in this compilation. They nearly all died young ...
Bowie is awful
Mr. May is the boss
HD quality video and the performance is HD +. Absolutely brilliant
All rock should be this great!!!!! Wow...👍🇬🇧
RIP Peter Tolson.... :(

bigtone1348 it's a specific fender model I will show you
Yes, I think sipping Gin in 1954 and the last ride on Andrea Doria got me here? lol
Great song. Great band. Hugely underappreciated. Should have been even more influential than they already are.

I remember the Peaches chain, and even more so, the album cover with the gorgeous girl with curly hair. Oh yeah, the music was great as well.
Loved this band ..May the ultimate front man.
Discovered these guys in 75 while I was in the Air Force. Blasted this album in the barracks at all hours.
The thinner the waistband, the deeper the quick sand. You know what I mean?
How good is that? The definition of 70s classic rock. If I could have written one song in my life, this would be it.
They released this Song during the Glamrock times without changing their style, absolutely amazing 😮👍👍
The best most underrated band of all tie love the prettiest
Great performance of a very good song from an underrated album. The Silk Torpedo CD has been reissued and the mastering job is first rate.
That repeated piano sequence gets me everytime!
Bummer the piano outro was chopped very short here. Maybe a time concern.
Who are the two tone-deaf knobs that gave this a thumbs-down??
Pollywogs for sure?
Great voice for the 70s! Powerful :)
great band of the seventies silk torpedo one of there best master- round -up or master-piece
Yeah great album. I thought that Freeway Madness was the best album they done
Effortless vocals at 1.42,great track, great band.

Parachute beats both for me.
The 2 down votes are probably because it was cut short. No other reason

Album produced by Norman Smith. I can testify this because I was there during the recordings.😀

S F Sorrow! Great album.
Fantastic only can name Tolson as a guitarist Was there a Green in the group ?
Bass player Jack Green... and Phil May - vocals, Gordon Edwards - guitar, vocals, Jon Povey - keyboards, Skip Alan - drums
Does anyone know why Dream/Joey, from the same show, is not available anywhere?

Luvin it
the Queen and Mercury Inspiration

They toured with Queen, I think Queen pinched many ideas from them.
Love it
The extasy of coke

I have one of their albums on 8-track somewhere.
Wow

+Nicholas Fairrie he used a female star to wreck himself? Well he probably wasn't the first
+Nicholas Fairrie Gordon Edwards played bass on the LP
Gordon John Edwards RIP didn't "wreck himself with heroin". Did you know Gordon personally +Nicholas Fairrie?
