Almost 6 hours streaming and talking non-stop, analyzing and commenting on her daughter's game. A loving mother who encourages even in the face of defeat. This has been fantastic. Thank you. Mucho ánimo mañana, Anna.
Pia, I barely know how to play chess but I watch this just because I love listening to your commentary and getting in on hearing you ‘think out loud’ I always learn so much. Being a mom and living for your kid’s success adds all that much more to the commentary. That is a looong stretch to commit to. Thank you so much!!
For no reason whatsoever a vid of Anna and mum popped up on my UA-cam today. So I watched them and have been watching about 3 hrs of content. And it has made me dig my chess sets out of the cupboard after nearly 20 years of not playing. So thank you to you both for reigniting my love for chess after all these years.
Anna is learning to play the clock; she is on the right track. It is difficult to know exactly when to use some more time and when to not do so, but she is developing that skill, and it's gratifying to see it.
That last 10 minutes of you guys bonding over the review is bloody beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Unlucky Anna, and good luck in the rest of the tournament.
Half the reason I am subscribed here is for Anna and the Other half is for Pia and if anyone does not like Pia's commentary...well since Pia is so kind I will not comoplete the sentence out of respect for her.
So many good moves! Unfortunately spoiled by one or two bad because of time. Anna, your strategy in the early middle game was magnifique. I would suggest when there are favorable positions where one move or another does not matter as much, to avoid perfectionism and move as quickly as possible to save as much time as possible for the critical tactical situations. Thank you Anna and Pia for such good content and strong efforts for your fans and viewers.
As already mentioned in the comments, Anna looks like she is obsessed with her passion. Even after 5 hours of playing, she finds time to analyze the game. Good luck in next championships.
Anna, you are such a good player, much better than your current ELO. It's impressive how you find the best moves in a row. The only problem is your time management, which you know. Please practice and improve on that. You can definitely do it, as you are also very good at blitz. And if I may say so (as an absolute amateur), memorize your openings a bit. 🤞 All the best to you and Legend Pia!
Pia is brilliant and Anna is a nice person. But I think Anna has reached the summit of her possibilities. I noticed several times a strange pattern in her playing: she starts the game brilliantly and builds up a strong position, then messes up everything with a few moves. Unless she's able to overcome this, it will not go better. Of course, Pia's attitude is the best: it's not about the rating but the enjoyment of playing the game.
@@mer1red Anna's problem with making some blunders in critical situations in her position might have to do with over analyzing her moves then developing tunnel vision, which she admitted to doing. Something she needs to correct to improve her game. That's what separates the lower rated players, even the ones at 2000 from the GMs. She was playing two games where she had winning positions on her opponents, made a few blunders then lost those games, oh well. Hopefully she will improve her game in the future.
You need to study this match every few weeks until you feel comfortable in taking the opportunity to push your advantage positionally without giving away so much time trying to find all the possible permutations... you had your opponent down on time and could have used that against them in the later stages of the match! Time is a significant factor when you learn to use it effectively! Opening was brilliant however... well played!!
Anna you or your mom should have two boards in orders to follow your match, a mean one with the original match you are performing and the other one with the possibles moves your mom suggests. Keep going you are so nice and those hard games and moments happends to everybody.
Hi Anna, Great game, but I think the main mistake you made in this game was to spend too much time. I looked at your time consumption after you were out of prep and it looked something like this: * Re1 (20 mins) * e5 (7 mins) * Bf1 (13 mins) * a5 (8 mins) * h3 (12 mins) * g4 (10 mins) And here you were basically already in time trouble, because you only have 20 minutes left for 20 moves. I think on average you can spend about 3-4 minutes per move, but your average is almost 12. If you keep a bit more time, you will definitely find moves like Qf2, Bf2 and Re6, and you will be 2200 in no time! Good luck!
@@DanSmith-j8yI would've pushed the pawn to E6, to push back the Q, and if not then definitely R to E6 to threaten the Q at the first opportunity. She did make that move to be fair, but it was too late. How could she how failed to see that? Perhaps it has to do with playing at a tournament with the long time controls, sitting in front of a chess board for hours, and weariness sets in. I'm no where near her level of skill, around 1350 to 1400, but thought when you're playing at or near master level, you're not supposed to make those kind of errors. She had a winning position and should've put that guy away.

She seems more down than usual after losing that, but I guess it's normal after such a match
Here's hoping for a victory in the final round tomorrow

I would have played 22. e6 without hesitation, kicking the queen and making a passed pawn.
and yet she disappoints again, at this point is just for entertaining that I watch, why the hell she didn't play Re6.

Pia should focus on her own career as a streamer, she is great, and she should forget about wasting time teaching Anna.
