As someone who has been the proud owner of a microscope for a grand total of 15 minutes.... I feel personally attacked by your demonstration of a newbie messing with the focus wheels. 😂 Thanks, I can actually see my premade slide now. Haha
first thing to do is read a book or go to wikipedia about the specimen you and to look, then go out in nature to find it, then you have to learn how to prepare it for microscopy and the you can use a microscope to look on it
It's an introductory microscope just like the one in the video. Some people will be happy with it, others not. Much depends on the individual expectations. Just like with any microscope. Get it, use it, learn, outgrow it, get another one. Repeat the cycle.
In this point you're talking on step one of concentration 4x to 10x or high power. The question is what shall i do if the slide class has cover class and wanna to move to other high objects as 40x and e.t.c... the cover class has layer so that, can cover class bring risk to my high power lens? Hope from u in detailed answer . Thnks again Oliver
The best way is to try out. Some food coloring is also used for microscopy (eg carmine). Different food colors react with different parts of a cell and it depends on the food color on what it stains. Alternative stains: fountain pen ink, ink of colored felt-tip pens (markers) etc. Take marker and dissolve color in a bit of water or alcohol (depending on the marker) and then use this for staining. Many things to experiment here.
Charlize; what do you mean by 'won't stick'? is this for a 'wet mount' with water; or 'perminent mount' with mounting medium? i use Cascade (US brand) dish washing detergent; it cleans very well but the 'biggy' for me is that it rinses, drains, dries with no water spots; just clean, clear glass; and the slides, cover slips work just fine...
Please help. Can anyone tell me how to aquire saline solution for fecal smears? The recipes I found require an autoclave. I have searched for this information for some time. I'm sure that it is assumed this is common knowledge so it's not covered. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.
Hi there. I really enjoy your channel. I am an artist, hoping to look at soil and water samples as part of my art project, in which I will depict, photograph and write about the material observed as part of a wider piece. I had a low budget of 150-200 euros and noticed the cost of microscopes jumped from about 100 euros to 300 euros. If there had been one in the 200 euros range I might have considered that. but the 300 was too far a stretch at this time. I have ordered a Swift microscope kit on Amazon with additional items such as phone attachment, slides etc. for 135 euro. The number of this microscope is SS121-25-PPA and it appears to be the same as the Swift SW150 but I cannot find out any information on whether they are. I was wondering if you knew anything about the model I bought. I am crossing my fingers that the microscope will be sufficient for my needs. I would really like to be able to see microorganisms etc. Thank you for you help and all the work you do educating us about the wonderful world of microscopy !!
I love when you explaing such lessons. Its my hobby
Lol the beginning made me lost it 😂
We take so much for granted in using our microscopes. These are wonderful tips for beginners (and even those of us with a little more experience!)
It was you who inspired me to get my microscope keep it up!

I bought a cheap chinese one for less than 30 pounds, and yet it gives me joy way above its price, i love the tiny world of micro!
Man I love your videos, keep it up! :D
Hello. I'm going to buy my first microscope. What do you think about Delta optical biolight 300 microscope?

Since I dont have any iodine or methylene dyes is food colouring an alternative?

Microbehunter Microscopy thanks for the explanation! I will try this out. Should I use rubbing alcohol?
Thank you for teaching about cleaning
One thing I wish that microscopes would have as a feature is a built-in USB power source outlet since all microscope cameras are USB powered.
Question: Can I reuse a washed glass slip and if I wash it, why won't it stick again
In what way not stick? All soap removed?
@@MicrobehunterMicroscopy yes, thank you for replying... I washed it with mineral water also but it won't stick, I think it's too thin
