Your intro music is such a perfect match!! I love your ability to throw your personality into the reviews without sacrificing any reviewing value all while increasing the entertainment value. You're something special in the review world and especially the watch review world so thanks for that and keep it up!!
I have several Miyota watches and, yeah, if you whip your wrist around and hold the watch to your ear, you can hear the rotor. But I've never, not even once, ever heard it while just wearing the watch and going through my day.
I actually love rotor sounds, every movement has its own, as long as they have see through case backs, vintage omegas with bumper movements are quite a different tone to enjoy!
Hey Jody ! For the rotor noise, we can clearly see at 06:30 that the rotor screw is moving as the rotor moves, i think that a screw driver should fix that or at least reduce the annoying winding sound.
I saw your review before I bought the watch. Luckily I decided to buy the watch because it is a gem. The "noise" from the movement is a non issue unless you have a tick or Parkinson IMO. The accuracy is better than my watch with ETA movement (after calibration), and should you get scratches you can fix them as opposed to my 3 times the cost Tissot automatic watch which is very scratch prone on both case and sapphire. Not to bring up the how prone my ETA is to get magnetised.
I absolutely agree that a handwinding movement fits the watch way better. Spot on criticism. Gorgeous piece though; great vintage styling but far from over the top. Drilled lug holes are always great, too.
Jodie, will you receive a Baltic Aquascaphe for review? I'd love to hear your take on it. I keep coming back to it, especially after viewing side profile pics of that fantastic case. So slim! So unlike many others that have a stark, vertical "wall" directly from dive bezel all the way to the caseback.
Hmmm I do like the style of that but totally agree a hand wound movement would really suit it. Checkout a Marloe Cherwell to see what I mean, then the window case back makes sense too. Nice watch but perhaps a little style over function. Well Jody I need to thank you very much as thanks to yourself and James Kibble I am wearing for the first time a Helm Vanuatu. It's stunning and will be even better when I fit the bracelet!
No sapphire glass that’s a bit sad, but has to be a dealbreaker for me, even more that the movement; I think the low beat movement suits the style of the watch.
I love the look they were going for, the dials and colors of every watch in their lineup are really stunning. I'm certainly keeping this on my watch list for purchasing down the road in a few years when they're $150 on Ebay.
Nice review. For all the moaners that want a hand-wind movement, well there aren't any available that would keep the price to around this level - unless you want Chinese (cf the Timex Marlin with a tiny Seagull movement). Just for the record all you movement snobs, every one of the Miyota 82xx movements I've had have been fantastic timekeepers - as good or better than ETAs. Have never noticed rotor noise either - some people must have ears like bats. All the other design choices I think are spot on for a vintage inspired watch, especially Hesalite crystal. A watch like this would be unthinkable with anything else. My only gripe is I wish the counterbalance on the seconds hand was a bit longer as on the Bicompax model. Otherwise kudos to Baltic. May well pick one up.
Beautiful watch. The Miyota 821A is very accurate... I see no problem there. I think it would look good on a cork bracelet... Has anyone tried one of these?
I regret a couple of my watches but only slightly, mainly coz I bought them on impulse and don't get enough wear out of them (yes I'm talking about you sistem 51 tangerine). Still, the regret I have for a few of my watches pales into insignificance compared to that hot dog I ate at 4 in the morning in ibiza in 1997.
seems like they cheaped out on something that could have really made the watch a great looking timepiece. I was really hoping you could get a look at the chronograph version with the handwind seagull movement..
My Parnis President got the same movement, comes with sapphire crystal, 5 ATM water residence und a really nice case and bracelet finish for 100$. The prices micro brands are demanding are way too high.
Justonemorewatch can you do a review of tiger concept g1. It could possible be an alternative to this watch since it’s a 36mm explorer homage from a boutique watch maker that offers Miyota 8215 movements in their watches.
I've got a cheap Corgeut Black Bay homage of AliExpress a year ago( very decent and about £85 in the sale. It's got the undecorated version of this movement in it. Very noisy but sweet lord is it accurate. Blows ever other mechanical watch I've got into the dust. I'm a bit obsessive about punctuality and have to adjust my Seikos every few days. This thing stay with a minute for maybe two weeks.
I agree about the movement. A handwinding movement would have been nice. There is something special about that ritual of winding your watch in the morning. Especially a watch that has a vintage look.
Looking forward to see the review. I have a Tissot Heritage 1936. That one has a ETA Unitas 6498 movement. A movement originally made for pocketwatches. If you see the watch, you will understand why that is a perfect choice.
My dearest Scottish best mate of 20 years uses the word 'Baltic.' He uses it everytime to describe when its cold! Love the vid. This watch would be well worth a look. The minimalist feature is very alluring! But, you're right, the miyota 9000 would have been better. I've had experience with the 8000 series, and it always felt to me like a beginner's level movement.
Just One More Watch My God! It's like he's in the room!!!! He's been saying the weathers "el-scorch-io" lately.....I've yet to find a translation, but I am hearing the UK is going through a heatwave, so I guess that Scots for Hot!
I like the looks very much. Maybe a bit too small on the diameter. But like you said, it’s to big of an asking price. I know it’s not the same dial but almost seems on par with something like a Vostok Classica 690B24. $160.
Fun fact: this French watch brand is called Baltic because the founder’s father (who was a watch collector) was born in Poland. The Polish coast borders the Baltic Sea. That’s why the founder picked that name; as a tribute to his father, who got him into watches.
I'm well into this series on Netflix called "The Disguiser" this is the type of watch they should have used on the series instead of the vintage watches they used with quartz movements.
Another spot on review. I fell for Baltic's slick pre-Kickstarter advertising and other watch sites' glowing reviews. I now own both the HMS001 and the BiCompax purchased thru their Kickstarter campaign. Super early bird at around $740.00 US dollars for both. Nothing but regrets! Don't want to get into a long winded crying game, but let me just say this: Don't do it! Stay away from Baltic. Cheap feeling watches, not properly regulated movements and poor customer service. And now they're pushing the Panda version on their website. HA, don't make me laugh (or cry) even more. Someone is getting paid to promote this crappy outfit. To everyone that commented about this watch being overpriced with cheap materials: You're spot on! I wished I had your insights prior to taking the plunge.
Sorry, my first language is not English and I didn't understand about the movement. Is it ticking too loud? If so what about the closed back, will it help to not hear the noise? You said it's acurate, so I guess that's not an issue. I really like the look of the watch and concidering if I should buy it or not.
Great video as per usual. Thanks. The only redeeming features on this watch IMHO are the drilled lugs and domed crystal. Otherwise expensive (for what it is) and unexciting (for what it isn’t). Beginning to conclude that anything connected with Kickstarter or a ‘new micro brand’ rings the alarm bells. Desole. Hey!! why don’t you get a Cadisen or Guanqin, change a few things like the hands and strap and Brand it JOMW? - this time next year you’ll be a millionaire.
Nice looks, but wrong package. Should be equipped with a simple hand winding movement and no display caseback. Would be truer to the 1940's inspiration and command a lower list price.
Are there similar styled watches that are more worth it to you? I really do like that 40s aesthetic it has going on, but id rather not buy mostly for the looks
Hesalite with a Miyota 8000 series for $400+ 🤔 I actually love the clean, simplistic, and unique design but would’ve been great to see them put a proper sapphire on here and a 9015 movement for that price.
I'm headed to Paris in a month and have gotten into the habit of picking up Just One More Watch™ while on vacation. Any other French watch options closer to the $100- 200 price range? Love the channel!!
This is a nice watch, i really like it. U guess you are right about the movement. I would like to have it handwinding too. But anyway, this is a lovely watch. 👍
With a Miyota 821A series movement, there are a boatload of choices on eBay from the likes of Parnis and others for less than $100. Of course, you don’t get that nice cork box. 😉 Kinda nice design execution but I think it’s a bit flawed - domed crystal but with a hard chunky stepped bezel. Also not a fan of the white minute track with too many hash marks on a black dial. It’s an odd duck IMHO. Close but not quite a cigar. I like dimestore cigars. Especially if they have an NH35.
I agree that this watch should have come with more than what was offered for that price, but I do think your expectations at a 400 dollar price point needs a bit of adjusting. Haven't seen a lot of companies putting the 9015 in at 400 bucks. Though with lack of sapphire crystal, this watch probably could have managed.
Hey mate! Yes, my value-ometer is pretty sharp these days, but I have reviewed a heap of watches at well under $400 with 9015s. Some as low as $150USD. Cadisen, Borealis, Xezo, Phoibos, Velthor...... Baltic's pencil could be a little sharper. Cheers!
Just One More Watch I stand corrected, I've been looking at a lot of microbrand divers and noticed a lot seem to be offering less and less for the money. Prices of Seiko divers keeps climbing too.
I've got a Vostok classica that is about the same size as this. looks better, has an in house movement and display caseback. I've put a collareb strap on it and saved myself nearly £200 pound over this baltic and the Vostok has real history.
It's a nice little piece, hand winding so it's nice and thin. better dimensions than a Bambino and feels more solid too, I've also got a couple of Amphibia's.. scubadude of course, couple of JDM Seiko's, SKX013 all the good stuff. I really enjoy your channel and the price point you go after. It's fun without breaking the bank. I've had Omega's in the past and enjoy the lower end just as much. It's all about the styling for me. Keep up the good work.
Love the looks hate the fact it fails on a massive aesthetic design flaw brushed sides and polished crown - are they blind...but hats off for the simple design suits my tastes as does Edith anytime. Sacré bleu the price and I agree with you the hand winder movement would have been great but do love the looks really do. Like you love smaller watches.
The aesthetics are spot on, but I suspect on the whole you can do a little better for the money. But here's the big question - if this is indeed la montre de la France, why is it called a Baltic? I could understand if it was an Estonian watch, or perhaps a ruthlessly minimalist Swedish watch or even one from the free Hanseatic City of Lubeck - but France and the Baltic just don't have any relationship.... do they?
Baltic, France, Miyota assembled in China? Probably better of buying a nice Vintage Timex and a Vostok with some quality straps. This way there will be plenty of money left for some decent single malt from the isles.😉
on ebay 821A movements sell for less than $40 new. you can buy a case, hands, strap, face and still have change from $100. plus it's a fun weekend project. I expect if you searched about a bit you could get it down to less than that. in fact ua-cam.com/video/rDfde-nmtKg/v-deo.html shows you exactly that. it's hard to justify the cost of this watch for a cork box.....
Tbh I think this one is a plane Jane and WELL overpriced. I would never pay what they are asking for this with the movement it comes with and no sapphire crystal. Best thing about this one was the strap it was on the rest would go straight in the bin. Great review as always 👍
Good looking watch , and review ...Baltic : nobody is going to buy this for $420 with a miyota 8 non hacker - throw in the eta no date and $500 would sell out

Have you heard of this French manufacturer? ultra1911.com/ OK a bit pricey at €565 but I think I'd prefer a movement based on the Seiko NH15 over a Miyota 82xx series anyday. Also a 2 Year warranty.
If I worked in marketing and was asked to come up with a name for a French watch company and I came back with Baltic I'd be sacked in the spot .Handsome but nothing else good to say about it .More Sacha Distel than Edith Piaf.
I would love a review on the baltic Aquascaphe
Your intro music is such a perfect match!! I love your ability to throw your personality into the reviews without sacrificing any reviewing value all while increasing the entertainment value. Great review and video.

Could you please make a review about the Baltic Aquascaphe?
Nice review. Barry H this shit is Chinese so a winder is no big deal
Beautiful watch. The Miyota 821A is very accurate... I see no problem there. I think it would look good on a cork bracelet... Has anyone tried one of these?

I always love the music references! Nice looking watch! Any chance on doing a review on a Luch Single Hand in the future?
These kind of retro watches 100% remind me of all the things we were missing on watches back then. So, no regrets about not buying it for looks..
My Parnis President got the same movement, comes with sapphire crystal, 5 ATM water residence und a really nice case and bracelet finish for 100$. The prices micro brands are demanding are way too high.
Enjoyable as always! Those crazy French!
agree 100% with your assessment. Keep up the good work.
Good looking piece for sure. Bit pricey, but very cool. Cheers man!

I like that retro-look-style!! You can call it a fashion in the watchindustry today.👌🏻😉 Like yours Oris 65, a beauty!!👌🏻😎

Hm... I wish they had used the 9015 but the speed of the 8200 is appropriate for the design.
Nice looks, but wrong package. Should be equipped with a simple hand winding movement and no display caseback. Would be truer to the 1940's inspiration and command a lower list price.
It is by default a closed caseback unless you pay for a display caseback.
Are there similar styled watches that are more worth it to you? I really do like that 40s aesthetic it has going on, but id rather not buy mostly for the looks
No I haven't! Thanks for the suggestion.
Hope you can review the LMM-01 Vintage Mecanique. Another French designed but Swiss made watch powered by a hand wind ETA
Hesalite with a Miyota 8000 series for $400+ 🤔
I actually love the clean, simplistic, and unique design but would’ve been great to see them put a proper sapphire on here and a 9015 movement for that price.
I'm headed to Paris in a month and have gotten into the habit of picking up Just One More Watch™ while on vacation. Any other French watch options closer to the $100- 200 price range? Love the channel!!
I think that only a quartz LIP would fit in the price range.
Nice packge of the watch very good looking watch good review

Any chance you can get the Bicompax on here? Looks great by the way. Their design is really second to none.
I'm not sure they will give me another watch after saying what I've said about this one?!
Just One More Watch 😂😂😂😂
The Bicompax is hand winding, too! You'd have gotten your wish if you'd gotten that model.
miyotas 8000 series can be quite loud if u put it besides your ears. but ok if u are wear it and don't deliberately try to hear it besides your ears
I agree that this watch should have come with more than what was offered for that price, but I do think your expectations at a 400 dollar price point needs a bit of adjusting. Just One More Watch I stand corrected, I've been looking at a lot of microbrand divers and noticed a lot seem to be offering less and less for the money. Prices of Seiko divers keeps climbing too.
Tisell offered a nice diver for 220 USD with a 9015 in it
I've got a Vostok classica that is about the same size as this. looks better, has an in house movement and display caseback. I've put a collareb strap on it and saved myself nearly £200 pound over this baltic and the Vostok has real history.

Hey man, i am really liking cushion style watches. Can you help steer me into some direction? Any makes i should take a look at?
this watch is my number 001!
Hey Jody do you still have this one?
The aesthetics are spot on, but I suspect on the whole you can do a little better for the money. But here's the big question - if this is indeed la montre de la France, why is it called a Baltic? I could understand if it was an Estonian watch, or perhaps a ruthlessly minimalist Swedish watch or even one from the free Hanseatic City of Lubeck - but France and the Baltic just don't have any relationship.... do they?
“This name is a tribute to my father’s origins in north Poland along the Baltic Sea”
Excellent review Jody, was really curious about this one but the movement is too mucj of a hassle... keep up the good work!
Universal Geneve Polerouter homage / copy. Nice. Not sure if I'd spend 400 USD for a homage. I'd like to see it without hour numbers/
You could have grabbed 5 or 6 Cadisens for that money!
Baltic, France, Miyota assembled in China? Probably better of buying a nice Vintage Timex and a Vostok with some quality straps. This way there will be plenty of money left for some decent single malt from the isles.😉
No, the watches are assembled in France

The movement is a real disappointment for the price...nice looking watch but not at this price point. Thank you for another fantastic review Jody :)
Tbh I think this one is a plane Jane and WELL overpriced. I would never pay what they are asking for this with the movement it comes with and no sapphire crystal. Best thing about this one was the strap it was on the rest would go straight in the bin. Great review as always 👍
Love the design overall, but better in other colors. Hate the polished hands; notice how they disappear in the close-up head on view.
Damn that asthetic 😍😍😍
Straight and too the point, I appreciate that. Too plain for me though. Thank you Just One More Watch Guy. 😎
Pricey for what you get, bland styling & I couldn't live with rotor noise either. Good review tho, cheers 👍
Good looking watch , and review ...Baltic : nobody is going to buy this for $420 with a miyota 8 non hacker - throw in the eta no date and $500 would sell out
Bill Haley nailed it
Exactly what I was thinking. Seems like a half-assed effort.
I stopped considering it after @1:56
And a Miyota for $400+? Seriously??
By a vostok take the ring off.. Walla a Baltic homage....
Ha! I see your point.
Do not understand. Which model do you mean, the vostok classica?
This is a neo-vintage watch, not a real vintage, so the lack of a seconds hacking feature is a deal breaker for me. The Hamilton Khaki Field is a far better value for the money, aesthetics aside.
hard pass- great review tho. I'm thinking if you want a french watch look for vintage Lip pieces.
Just buying it for looks? So in other words, a fashion watch? Not that is a bad thing. Let's see some reviews for Michael Kors watches!
Noooooooooooooooooo!
It's a $100-$125 watch. Bad materials and very plain styling. Especially for the French.
Seriously?!
I must say I'm not that impressed by it . For the money you could probably get a classic original omega . From the 50's
The Baltic Bicompax is hand wound and silent
Do you brush your arm hairs mate ?
Ha! If they get any longer, I'll be plaiting them!
Baltic, "my" sea :)
Nice looker but $400 meh. Cheers
Tony Maietta the hand winder would have been half as much too.
just got my marc and sons marine with 9015 for 100 bucks, specs are so much better
Uriel Septim VII How can i get one for that price? They are being sold for 300€, as far as i know.
Nuno Mendes a german seller, schoeneuhren, has them for 179 and sells them on ebay germany as they are not produced anymore and its remaining stock. the cheapest i saw was sold for around 80€
Have you heard of this French manufacturer? ultra1911.com/ OK a bit pricey at €565 but I think I'd prefer a movement based on the Seiko NH15 over a Miyota 82xx series anyday. Also a 2 Year warranty.
The price would be perfect if there was a 9015 in it. Nice design though.
Hey Gulshan! Yes, different proposition with a 4k in it. Looking forward to reviewing one of yours soon!? Jody
Hey Jody, yes very soon! I have been waiting a long time due to delays :)
when i get this watch i will probably remove the rotor
If I worked in marketing and was asked to come up with a name for a French watch company and I came back with Baltic I'd be sacked in the spot
.Handsome but nothing else good to say about it .More Sacha Distel than Edith Piaf.
Baltic spelled backwards is “Citlab” which I believe is French for “overpriced.” Nice try, France-I’m not falling for your dirty tricks this time.
Nine todays today. I am so drunk now.
Shit. Is that a thing? JOMW drinking game? Do I say 'today' perhaps a little too often? 😂😂 Noted!!
Can't see how this is worth anything more than a Bambino. Love the dial style but way too out of range for me.
Wait - French watches - shouldn't you really be reviewing something from Blancpain here??? :D
Blancpain is Swiss.
id expect a eta 2824 for that type of coin mate, they ruined their own watch with the worst movement in the world haha
baltic.... made in france, right ....lol
400usd? not lol anymore
Inception
Not for me I'm afraid, far too expensive for the specifications, and it's just ..... Bland
Just get a bambino, nearly the same looks, better specs, and $300 cheaper
bambino is 41mm, this one is 38mm. Very not the same.
panchoskywalker "nearly"
So, one for the dopey "hipsters" then?
Jeffrey KRUPA Not a hipster, but dopey nonetheless. 😁
yuk lol not good for the price too expensive
French time piece?!? Lol. More like Chinese.
Meh. Not a fan of how the hands almost disappear on the black face. Lets move on to a more interesting watch in the next video, shall we.
Looks boring and cheap sorry
Looks like a cheap chinese watch
