Being a Lankan Sinhalese I thought to add this bit, most of our Indian friends don’t know much about Sri Lanka. The main ethnic group is not Tamil but Sinhalese and they are connected to north Indians genetically. The main religion is not Hinduism but Buddhism which came to Sri Lanka from north India. North side of Sri Lanka has got a majority of Tamils and they’re most of the time either Hindus or Christians/catholics. They have connections to South Indian communities too. Sinhalese language has direct connections to Sanskrit. That’s why the vast similarities to Hindi language is seen in Sinhalese language. Ramayan story is a long gone historical tale in a book and no one knows whether that story could be proven archaeologically or not. Even if it is proven, we don’t know whether nowadays Sri Lankans have any connection to those people lived in that past time or they’re mixed several uncountable number of times. Veddas as an ethnic group is believed to be connected to prehistoric people of Sri Lanka. Also among Sinhalese there are many Christians and Catholics too. Apart from those groups, Muslims and Dutch burghers also live in the island. It’s important to pass this real information to all Indian brothers and sisters so that they may know the major ethnic group of Sri Lanka that is Sinhalese is a direct connection to north and northeast Indian people, culture and religion which is an untold truth hidden for so long.
Except one Indian, most Indians do not know facts about Sri Lanka. Their knowledge about Sri Lanka is poorer than that of Europeans. Whenever you ask an Indian about Sri Lanka, they talk about the "Lanka" mentioned in Hindu mythology Ramayana. It is like you really believe that Sherlock Homes lived in Backers street and talk about him as if you had seen him. Indians seriously need to learn about the differences between Lanka in Ramanaya (a fiction) and actual facts about Sri Lanka (ancient and modern). In India, there is a day that they even burn Sri Lankan flag for celebrating this myth of Rama believing that Ramanyana is true and Lanka in Ramayana is Sri Lanka. However, I am also not mad with Indians, the composer of Ramanya exactly wanted this; right or wrong, he wanted to unit people, to make a nation powerful. The writer of Ramanaya might have used the name Lanka bcz it was a very popular country in the ancient world. However, this type of story will not help democracy and peace.
@@jeewakapremaraja1866 No Sinhalese are genetically closer to Sri Lankan Tamils and Maldivians followed by South Indians. This whole "we are related to North Indians" thing has to end. Most Sinhalese look similar to South Indians. Why is it always the dark skinned Sinhalese claiming we are related to North Indians? I actually have light skin and you would never catch me saying "we are related to North Indians". So embarrassing.

As an Indian, I really love Sri Lanka! Such an amazing, clean, literate, humble island with the greatest of people! I have so many Sri Lankan friends, and I find them more grounded and polite than fellow Indians. Another thing, as a child, I was really into Buddhism and Sri Lanka culture. Apparently Sinhala and Hindi have a lot of similar words! And our great emperor Ashoka's son Mahinda was the monk who spread Buddhism to Sri Lanka. My maternal side of the family is from his birthplace in a city called Ujjain. Love to Sri Lanka Matha 🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰
Thanking you Sir for Honest reply...Yes agree with all.... and specially thanks for India and the Emperor Ashoka and his son Arahat Mahinda thera and Sangamithra (daughter) for bring the great message of Buddhism to Sri Lanka, which most Indian badly missed....(I visited all buddhist sights in India) Thanking you and India..... However, this is incorrect as Tamils only make up roughly 11% to 12% of the population. * And People just cannot go to parliament and change the government based on their preference. * If someone says the economy rate in Sri Lanka is very low, it does not mean he is well-versed in the country. * Sir Lanka is a near-by country that is only 54.8 kilometres away from India. I believe they should be more knowledgeable about Sri Lanka than this. * Sri Lanka currently faces economic challenges, and the country has sought assistance from various countries, including India, China, and others. And they are still supporting and will continue to help till the issue is resolved. *The Sri Lankan Civil War began in 1983 and lasted until 2009. A srilankan grew up in India for 15 years here. Most Indians love SriLankans but don’t know much real facts. Many of our Indian friends who travelled to sl because of us later told us “why didn’t you tell us to go to sl before, we would never waste money on Europe trips again.” 😅 yes SriLanka is cleaner and greener compared to India and people are quite friendly but Indian people are the most hard working and resilient and I saw how Indians worked hard even during the pandemic. SriLankans are naturally blessed, they can afford to be nice cos their lives have been way easier. So comparing people isn’t fair.
As a Sri Lankan....I met and worked with soo many Indian when I was working in Tanzania (East Africa).. but comparing with our people they are not with heartfelt and selfish..... African locals they really don't like Indians (Unfortunately they thought we Sri Lankan as Indians cz the colour of skintone and with black hair)

fun fact : Indians also know its a separate country over 5000 years . But our tourism minister dont know that😂 and most of them only know about economy crisis. But if you visited sri lanka u will wonder how modern is that, and how we kept our cities very clean. ❤
True. Almost all were mentioning about the economic crisis. Other than that they don't know much about Sri Lanka. Because I suspect this recording must be from the north of India (from the English pronunciation). South Indians know much more about Sri Lanka and also tour Sri Lanka in considerable numbers. Actually according to the SL tourism minister SL is part of India and probably one of the Indian states. If that's the case, may be in the near future (with India investing heavily in SL like no ones business), it would be good for SLns. They can be proud of being from the most populus country on the planet; largest "demo cracy" etc. Also the Indian passport receives very much better respect than a SL passport across the world. Accessing the Indian cinema industry would be much easier for the ex SLns/now indian beauties than the current SLns. Also the SLns (Budhists) can be happy to be part of the nation in which Buddha was born. Only down side is none of the current SL cricketer will be able to represent their country as there'll be no SL and the current indian team's bench strength is more stronger than the SL 1st eleven. On the other hand in IPL instead competing for limited slots as a overseas player they have a better chance as a Indian player. The positives far outweigh the negatives. LOL.
@@kalhansb do you think every indian watches cricket 😂🤣. Majority of us don't even care about cricket, it's all about clearing entrance exam here in india amongst the teenager, for job seekers giving interviews, all are busy in their own world 😂🤣
I am an Indian and I am shocked by the comments of our fellow neighbors. Look guys the thing is the interviewer interviewed people from Delhi which is far away from Srilanka. You do the same interview in some South Indian state you will see people knowing so much about you and your culture. Secondly, Yes Srilanka is cleaner than India nobody denied that fact I don't know why Srilankans in comment sections are calling India dirty and polluted for no reason. When did we Indians say that India is cleaner than Srilanka? Thirdly, most of the Indians are either Neutral or have a Positive opinion about Srilanka we don't hate you at all (Except maybe Tamil People). Fourthly, not all of India is dirty and polluted. India is a very big and diverse country. There are like 28 countries within India. I would invite all our fellow Srilankans to please visit places in the cold Himalayas in North India, Deserts in Rajasthan, Beaches in Goa and Andaman Islands. You can find almost every type of scenery in India. If you want to experience heavy cold mountains we have the Himalayas in North, If you want to experience hot and humid climate we have the Thar Desert in the West, If you want to see Tigers come to Sundarbans and Ranthambore, If you want to see Lions come to Gir, Gujarat and if you want to see Rain-forests come to Northeast. And not to forget their are thousands of ancient building and sites scattered all across India. If you ignore all these things and only say that India is dirty and polluted then you are insulting our country based on the Western Stereotype. Even in a dirty city like Delhi there are thousands of clean and modern places. Lastly, we all Indians respect Buddhism and Lord Buddha. There are thousands of ancient Buddhist places scattered across North India, The most notable ones being Bodhgaya Temple, Ruins of ancient university of Nalanda, The 2300 years old Sanchi Stupa (The oldest Buddhist Stupa in the World), The amazing monuments of Ajanta caves (Made in 3rd century BCE), etc.....
I agree with you.the thing is sri lankan students learn some parts of indian history also So some sri lankan Hope indians also must know about sri lanka as a students who learn indian history in uni Lots of things to learn When you have vast history, culture it is difficult to.learn other country But as a asian it is important to know about neighbor country
However, not knowing about cricket is the real issue here. be it Delhi, Ahmedabad, kolkata or Chennai, India is a cricket crazy country. They should be well educated on cricket!
As a Sri Lankan I totally agree with you. I think lots of bad impressions about India and it being dirty and polluted are coming from what politicians and some old narrow minded people put into the minds of Sri Lankans since we are kids. I also believed in some of those things until I met really good Indian friends once I went abroad for my higher studies. No country is perfect and Sri Lanka has their own issues while India also may have issues that we don't know of. But I think both Sri Lanka and India are beautiful contries with unique and beautiful cultural aspects in their own way. I think people shouldn't try to imply one country is better than the other based on such childish reasons. I don't see any Indians who speaks here talking bad about Sri Lanka. If they don't know they just say it honestly and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Well said brother. We never had a misunderstanding about Tamils only politicians created the bloody war to divide and rule. Probabl prabakaran was also a victim of bloody political agenda. We all are srilankans regardless of ethnicity Tamil muslim or sinhalese
You are right. I am Sinhalese. But very fast more and more family members keep getting married to Tamils in our family. So these Tamil family members nor us do not want to even remind that there had been a relationship strain in the past. Unfortunately, these two groups and even Muslims are manipulated by each of their politicians so that they would be able to show their people that they are saviors of their own people. But the young people in Sri Lanka believe that they want independent judiciary system irrelevant of race or caste or religion. Cause Sri Lankans are tired of political games.
Sri Lankans are Buddhist by name only. Eat meat. Lie on Tax returns, Lie on Insurance claims. Lie about everything. Behaviour is totally opposite of Buddhism. Craves about luxuries. Love to show off . Buddhist? My foot.
If you're so proud of Buddhism then you should also know that the lines between Dharmic faiths are not rigid. There may be some disagreements but unlike Abrahamic religions Dharmic traditions never accuse each other for being False. It's just a matter of preference which ride one would want to take to their destination. Peace
one of my manager from middle east went for recruitment to India and then Sri lanka, upon his return he told me that your country Sri lanka is very clean and neat, people are very hospitable, roads even in rural areas very clean and neat and he had no problem in communication. food and water was awesome, i was very happy to hear those words at that time when politics was at the dirtiest and racism was on top while the raja f..cking paksas was looting the country and raping its economy. now slowly we are bouncing back from the crises, once the corrupt politics is gone, we will have one of greatest economies in south asia, nearly 40 plus billion dollars had been stolen from that tiny island nation by the greedy ruling class for decades.
We aren’t bouncing back, and the Rajapaksha became a scapegoat. George Soros rug pulled the LKR in 2022 like he did to the Thai Baht in 1997 to regicide the King, and British Sterling to collapse England in 1992. Rajapaksha was replaced by Ranil, a WEF asset. Soon the instability of the LKR will result in a question being raised regarding INR adoption. Delhi will make Lanka to India what Ukraine is to Russia and Taiwan is to China. They want Trinco badly.

The majority of Sri Lanka are Sinhala Buddhists, and they also refer to the people who migrated from the Indian states of West Bengal, Orissa and Gujarat as Sinhalese. The Sinhala language is basically made up of the Sanskrit and Pali languages of Bihar and the languages of Kalinga. Sri Lanka received Buddhism as a gift from Emperor Ashoka the Great. Anyway, Native people of Sri Lanka are Sinhalese and we are descended from West Bengal and Orissa and we love those two states very much.
Lion is found in Guajarat, not Bengal. Sinhalese is classified as south Indo-Aryan language, close to Marathi and Konkani. Sinhalese migrations took over centuries from various sides and uniquely developed in Sri Lanka. The native Vedoid people have been in Sri Lanka for thousands of years.
Somebody knows history, yes it is predominantly people eastern part of India settled in Srilanka. Even their names reflect our names in Odisha, Kumar, Nayak etc. are very common.
When Srilankan thinks as Srilankan rather than Sinhalese, tamil, Moor, and other ethnic groups ,that day only Srilanka can become a developed nation. Learn from the mistakes that happened past. One country, we are all Srilankan. Respect each other to build the nation together ❤❤

I'm surprised that many Indians don't know much about Sri Lanka beyond the fact that we're their neighboring country. In our schools, we actually learn a lot about India- from the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Empire to the entire narrative of India's independence struggle. For those who aren't familiar with Sri Lanka, we've recently faced an economic crisis, but we're gradually stabilizing. Interestingly, Sri Lanka's GDP per capita is actually higher than India's. In Sri Lanka, education is free until you earn a degree, and if you're talented but economically disadvantaged, the government even provides financial support to attend state universities. Unlike in India, government schools in Sri Lanka often outperform private ones. Our literacy rate stands at 92.38%, significantly higher than India's. Moreover, Sri Lanka boasts a better healthcare system and public transport infrastructure compared to India. And also Sri lanka is much more cleaner and better place to live than india

Comparing cleanness and greenness is stupid and simply not fair. Sri Lanka is a tourism nation and relies heavily on tourism. India relies on manufacturing and service sector. Manufacturing is also growing at a rapid pace so any developing nation in the world which relies heavily on manufacturing is bound to have some pollution, add to that India has such a large population. Also, entire Sri Lanka has a monotonous tropical climate so ofcourse it will all be green, whereas in India, you have everything, the south, the Himalayas and northeast are very green, but Gujarat and Rajasthan are half deserts. So ofcourse not the entire country will be green. With these facts aside, i think majority of Indians love Sri Lanka. Don't know what Sri Lankans think of India though.

I'm a Malaysian Indian (tamilian) . My grand pa was from Jaffna...came as a young man n worked as a manager in Malaya in the plantation sectors . My grand ma's parents was from India but grdma was born in Ipoh, Perak Malaya . All these happened during the time Malaya was under the British colonial ruling. Before independence from the British, it was called Malaya. Malaysia got its independence from the British on the 31st August, 1957. Malaysia was also ruled by the Portuguese n Dutch. Malaya was also ruled by the Japanese during 2nd world war. After the war, British came back n ruled till 1957. Iv been to every part of SL...love the food n the people are humble n friendly. Enjoyed my time in SL , would love to go again. Been to South n North of India. Vast differences between both countries although there's some similarities especially the southern part where most Tamils are. So most Malaysian Indians ancestors are either from Sri Lanka or India. Some still have relatives in both these two countries. In Malaysia, we have Tamils, Malayees, Telugus, Sikhs, Gujaratis, Punjabis n more so thus we all come under as Malaysian Indians. Nowadays, some Msian Indians are a bunch of mixed race of Chinese,Malay European and also with other ethnic race groups from Sabah n Sarawak. There's lots of mixed marriages among the new generations b. For example my daughter is married to a msian chinese. (The Chinese also came during the British colonial ruling). My daughter had a traditional Hindu temple wedding and a traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony and so their offsprings will be known as chindians as a race😅. So here in Malaysia we have embraced other cultures, race n religion with open arms. 😅
Our mentality is like TV fuzz because our politicians and their western owners seek to divide and conquer us rather than unite and progress us. It’s also very dangerous for good people to get into politics now. The Israeli-Russian dual citizens have created drug and sex trafficking along with sexual blackmail and assassinations to seize control over the underworld, police, and local politicians
To that guy who gave a whole essay on Sri Lanka mad respect bro! You know a lot and thank you so much for all the positive stuff you said. Wish you all the best to go a long way in your life!❤

none of the north indian retards know about tamil genocide .. hence tamilnadu will be free soon
We don’t like BEGGAR india.
Cow Dunger Modi 's BEGGAR india has been given 126th place in World Happiness Report 👍🤣🤣
Except one Indian, most Indians do not know facts about Sri Lanka. Their knowledge about Sri Lanka is poorer than that of Europeans.
Whenever you ask an Indian about Sri Lanka,
they talk about the "Lanka" mentioned in Hindu mythology Ramayana.
It is like you really believe that Sherlock Homes lived in Backers street
and talk about him as if you had seen him.
Indians seriously need to learn about the differences between Lanka in Ramanaya (a fiction) and actual facts about Sri Lanka (ancient and modern).
In India, there is a day that they even burn Sri Lankan flag for celebrating this
myth of Rama believing that Ramanyana is true and Lanka in Ramayana is Sri Lanka.

* And People just cannot go to parliament and change the government based on their preference.

India funded backed trained ltte terrorist and terrorism on Sri Lanka to Which made Life hell for Sri Lankans for long 27 years and eventually bankrupted the country's economic and reputation around the world.
I like the South of India as a Sri Lankan. I travelled to cities in the North, man it made me depressed😢
fun fact : Indians also know its a separate country over 5000 years . But our tourism minister dont know that😂
and most of them only know about economy crisis. But if you visited sri lanka u will wonder how modern is that, and how we kept our cities very clean. ❤
Well said! 😊
Uta ingriisi therenneh nah 😂😅
LOL.
Tourism minister is dump and no education, he is an embarrassment to Sri Lanka
Yes man since the time of Ramayana Sri Lanka is separated from india

I agree with you.the thing is sri lankan students learn some parts of indian history also
So some sri lankan
Hope indians also must know about sri lanka
as a students who learn indian history in uni
Lots of things to learn
When you have vast history, culture it is difficult to.learn other country
But as a asian it is important to know about neighbor country

India's per capita income is $2850 and Sri Lanka's per capita income is $3340. Per capita income of both the countries are not that different though.

Regarding cultural similarities, even the Tamils of Tamil Nadu and Tamils of Sri Lanka are very different! Apparently, Sri Lankan Tamil is more pure as compared to Nadu Tamil, and their foods, accents, also genetics are quite distinct!
You are right. I’m Sinhalese. But generally our Tamils are warm irrespective of their educational standard. I am sad to hear our Tamil fishermen are tormented by the fishermen of Tamil Nadu. They are encouraged by some Tamil Nadu rough politicians. As I understand the relationship strain between Sinhala and Tamils among the educated and also the less educated innocent people never exist anymore. I always wish complete healing among all Sri Lankans while politricks should never be entertained anymore. Cause they always wanted to divide and rule. I love India too, though I understand population explosion is the reason for less educated Indians to be noisy and rough.

That is indians civic sense not any thing you mention
Your people not much educated they don't care to keep surrounding clean
As an example look at the tokyo japan most populated city in the world but they keep everywhere clean and tidy

I have been to both countries.
Kerala or some parts of Goa are culturally similar to Sri Lanka. So the cuisine and natural landscape with lakes and beaches.
(The Chinese
also came during the British colonial ruling). My daughter had a traditional Hindu temple wedding and a traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony and so their offsprings will be known as chindians as a race😅. So here in Malaysia we have embraced other cultures, race n religion with open arms. 😅

As a 🇱🇰🇱🇰, I'm so humbled: That guy compares SL to Scandinavian countries. Yet where our mentalities are right now? 😟🤔
