- Welcome to Hai Hai Channel! Today, please join us on an exciting adventure at Neys Provincial Park, where we’ll explore not just one, but two incredible trails, and venture off the beaten path along the rocky coastline.
We start our journey with the Point Trail, a relatively easy 1 km path that winds through a mixed forest, providing stunning views of the pristine shoreline along Lake Superior. As you walk, you’ll notice the unique transition from forest to shoreline, giving you a taste of Neys’ raw beauty. The trail ends at a picturesque point, where the crashing waves and the breeze from the vast lake energize you for what’s next.
Here, we seamlessly transition to the Under the Volcano Trail, which begins right where the Point Trail leaves off. This 2.5 km Point-to-Point trail is where Neys' rich volcanic history starts to unfold. The trail takes you through rugged terrain with volcanic rock formations and fascinating glimpses into the park’s ancient geologic past. But we won’t just stick to the marked path - we’re choosing our own adventure!
As we leave the formal trail, we traverse the rocky coastline, carefully stepping over ancient boulders and rock shelves shaped by glaciers thousands of years ago. Along the way, keep an eye out for interpretive panels that reveal Neys’ fascinating geological and volcanic history. These panels tell stories of how this landscape was formed by fiery volcanoes, shaped by massive glaciers, and transformed over millennia.
The combination of forests, volcanic formations, and coastal views makes this a trail unlike any other. With every step, you’re walking on the remnants of a landscape that tells the story of our planet’s dynamic forces - fire and ice. Whether you're an adventurer or a geology enthusiast, Neys Provincial Park offers an unforgettable experience.
Thanks for joining us today, and don’t forget to subscribe to Hai Hai Channel for more adventures like this!
Interesting rock formations. The lava flows are not like those in the West, perhaps much older? A very pretty area.
