Hey Guys, thanks for watching! By the way Insta360 is having a big sale right now and you can get a FREE Quick Reader with the X4 only until July 19! through my link here bit.ly/3Q3OnI8
I tried the lens guards and I won't use them. I haven't broken my lens yet on any of my 360 cameras (I have all of them) because I'm careful. I like to vlog with my camera and the glare is unacceptable.
Thanks for the input Jimi! I agree that the glare can really ruin some shots. I think for certain scenarios, they are a good idea, but in general when you want the cleanest footage, get Insta360 Care and use the camera without lens guards.
Same here, I don't like the output with the Lens guard on. it destroys the footage especially in low lights, the footages with look like the lens have smudges even wehn you clean them carefully. I hope they will release a better quality lens guard that addresses this issue.
Just upgraded from the original OneX to the X4. This was super helpful as I unboxed to know if I should install the lens guards right away and what good use cases will be for them vs lighting issues! Thanks!
In a cold climate, just use the anti fog glass, its easier to clip on/off.. if you are diving and using the dive case, don't use it, it will definitely affect your video.. for extrem sports in warm weather, its PERFECT
Thanks for the review! I am more interested in 360 Photo than Video, and i am curious, does changing lens guard mode affect the output of full 360 photos? I export them in Studio to equirectangular and did not notice any bad stitching yet…
You're welcome! No the stitching will not be affected for photos either as long as you set the stitching for the lens guard. You will still notice any dust spots on those lens guards or extra light spots though.
thank you for your advice. I have ruined all my previous shots using the premium lens gards. It´s almost impossible to shot video without sun flairs and dust bubles. I clean my lens everytime I use them. I have now replece it with the standard plastic ones
Do you suggest either lense guard over the other or just no lense guard when filming offroad? Was wondering how they perform with occasional mud or water hitting them.
Awesome Video! Yeah I upgraded to the Premium lens Guard and my footage yest was horrible. I cleaned them before filming. Uploaded and lots of Glare 😭 I agree with Jim no lens guards for now on!
Wish I had have watched this before travelling to Bali.. Didnt really I needed to clean the lens guard every shot.. have heaps of footage that are not as good quality as they should be
hallo,I have a small problem with insta x4 or I don't know if it's a problem, where can I send you a small video so you can give me an answer if the video camera is not right? Thanks
I bought the Premium lens guard and returned it the same day. The problem is that it does not fit tight. I use the Insta360X4 on a bike, and I am afraid that it would shake off.
At the base of the lens guard it has a black plastic surround with slots going all the way round, you need to try grip that part of the lens and then turn anti clockwise, its a little tough but once you get the hang of it, its not too difficult.
Hi, sorry for the slow reply! What I do is just place both fingers near the textured rim of the lens guard on opposite sides, then press down and rotate counterclockwise. It's a bit hard to get them off. Would love to hear tips from anyone else if you have a better technique. 👍
The lens guards should not be used in the water since they are not water tight. Plus, the extra water drops 💦 that will show up will really show up in your shots. 👍
@@JordanHetrick It shouldn't be used in water because water gets into them, right? It's happened to me before and I thought there was some defect in the equipment, could it be?
You can use the lens guards on the X3 in water for surface water sports (not diving) as they are water tight for splashing and shallow immersion, unlike the X4. They really should look at making them watertight and antistatic on the X4. The X3 plastic lens guards scratch very easily though and have had to regularly replace them, though better than damaging the lens.

What do you use for the video and how do you pull the focus like that ?
Best wishes

Thank you for the feedback! I agree 👍 It is really hard to get them clean enough to avoid any dust spots! But sometimes it's worth it....occasionally.
thanks for videos🎉
My pleasure 😊 Thanks for the comment!

The best option would be to reach out to Insta360 directly. 👍

You probably weren’t twisting them on all the way felt the same until I realized I never actually put it on correctly
How in the heck do you get them off?! I can’t seem to get my fingers on them good enough to remove them. Any tips?

@@JordanHetrick they are super hard to get on and off!!
I have an Insta 360 X4,
Is it normal when I put the lenses on and immerse the camera in water, to notice that water enters the inside of the lens?
The lens guards should not be used in the water since they are not water tight. Plus, the extra water drops 💦 that will show up will really show up in your shots. 👍
@@JordanHetrick thanks for the clarification
You cant surf with it just like the x3 ones
Yes, that is right. The lens guards should not be used in the water.
