This video is the beginning of a new series where we cover Navy. More to come next week. Thanks for your patience recently I spent a ton of time on these videos to simplify these videos as much as possible.
After 700 hours of playing I will be able to understand navy! Yay!
"Navy is an important aspect of the game"
*Laughs in admiral purges*
"I don't need these"
A good intro to navy. Excited to see more about fleet composition and ship design
exactly what i needed lol most navy tutorials are an hour long. thanks for the upload!
Glad you like it!
2:54 important thing to note about screens, torpedoes do a massive amount of damage, so can really ruin your capital ships. The chance for a torpedo to get your capital ships is 100% minus your screen efficiency. I.E with 100% screen efficiency your capital ships are safe from torpedo damage.
The same goes for your carrier group, but your carries are screened by other capital ships, not your screen ships.
It's not 100% chance to hit once it gets trough the screens.
A major factor for the hit chance is the speed stat of the ship it tries to hit.
Bismark moment
Very good starting explanation. Although at 1:11 I think it would be good to add something like the following. I am 99 % sure I am right on this.
Task Forces in a fleet cannot be assigned to different regions. All task forces in a fleet operates in all the regions selected for the fleet or the individual task forces. Well I did my best, but it could definately be better phrased!
That's a good point. Sometimes I cut things down a little too much.
This is great. I just started playing but didn't quite get the navy. There are other, longer, videos but I guessed this would be the correct amount of info to get me started without giving me all the "correct" answers and thus depriving me of the fun of figuring that out myself. And that's exactly what I got here, so nicely done!
This intro is very helpful, thank you so much! Looking forward to the next episodes about the navy, too!
You deserve a Nobel prize for this video.
Most 30 minute videos couldn't explain the navy better then this one did!
Amazing video, looking forward for the next part.
More to come for sure!
I feel like this is forbidden knowledge
Finally, you’re back bro. Been waiting a long time for this. Your tutorials are godly.
Appreciate it! But it's been like two weeks! I haven't gone any where. lol
@@Pydgin yh sorry missed your last upload even though I clicked the bell icon which is weird. Anyway take your time with your vids, quality over quantity always.
This ringtone left me open minded 🤯🤯
What about fleet composition? How big do you make your strike fleets? How big do you make your scout fleets? Battleships or heavy carriers?
navy op
Naval Bombers, Sub 3s *tutorial over*
woah now, getting fancy with your custom boats... how about just CAS and convoys? worst case paratroopers ;)
@@Pydgin ignore navy, based air force
can anyone tell me on how to put the ships to deliver the armies?, because i dont know how, only delivery ships works in the game
Battleships. Cool. Then more battleships.
Once again your video has helped me understand something about this game. Quick question tho do u think you could do other paradox games like stellaris?? I barely got the game and the UI has fried my brain
I get this question a lot. I don't really have the time to do other paradox games. For youtube reasons I plan to keep this channel's main focus as HOI4 tutorials only. I may start another channel for another game in the future but not until I've covered HOI4 completely.
If anyone else is reading this and knows how to play Stellaris/EU/CK/ETC,,,, there is a gap in the market.
But i dont know how create fleets im playing as czechia and i have united kingdom
Man, I have stopped playing HoI4 because the navy rework made that whole aspect too complex and I feel like I am not playing properly by just ignoring it. It works but it doesn't feel right. I haven't had the motivation to work myself into the mechanics of the navy systems...
without MtG, should I only get 1936 destroyers in a navy ?
I honestly don't know. It's been so long since I've played without the DLC. I used to just spam subs. Maybe someone else has some more insight.
Submarines for anywhere except shallow sea(cause of visibility nerf) and pacific(not enough range). Submarines are the best in every other case in my experience though
Wouldn't radar be better than snorkel since it not only give you awareness to escape from the enemy but also kill it?
it's really the visibility that gets subs destroyed. Radar is good for detecting other ships to start engagements.
Pydgin : sinks the HMS Hood with planes
The British government asking the Americans for 5000 Strategic Bombers, and 1 million fuel lend lease, to "create a makeshift nuke" on every of your airfield : There is no mercy
haha, too bad Sealion was about a week later.
This'll be the guide I need most
That’s impossible, even Paradox doesn’t know how navy works
Spam subs
It's forbidden for the players to understand navy! Don't watch this video cuz you are goin to the prison
I haven't had a clue how the navy worked since Man the Guns. Really good explanation.
I guess i will stick to building convoys and stealing other countries navy
I don't get the hate on subs, just get some detection on your ships escort ships.
Remember: Deathstacking _everything_ is THE meta strategy. If you don't like it, don't go back to 1.4, when fuel didn't exist and stacking penalties were nonexistent. And also only retreating ships got to focus fire. That only got fixed in 1.7.
Yeah, I know they tried to "fix" it. deathstacking does give some penalties since it's difficult to get high positioning with huge stacks but the benefits of all your firepower out way the lack of positioning.
Deathstacking Things like ASW DDs and SSs are kinda useless, as for both convoy raiding and convoy escort you need to cover as much sea zones as possible. Deathstacks can seriously hinder that sea zone converage, and you won't get 100% efficiency. Death stacks for SSs also supposedly increase their visibility and thus their use.
can anyone tell me on how to put the ships to deliver the armies?, because i dont know how, only delivery ships works in the game
From friendly to friendly territory put them on a tile and click the destination port. For invading enemy territory you need to do a "naval invasion order". Look up a video on how to do it, there are a number of steps to the process.
@@Pydgin oh okay, thank you for explaining
now thats worth a like!
You explained this so dam well thank you!
why the blurry bar over the map at 0:23
oh man! I'm surprised you noticed it was like half a second. I recorded some clips with the wrong scene, it was showing my twitch sub count. Only noticed it last minute in the editing process. Figured blurring it wouldn't stand out as much as the numbers.
I have found it incredibly annoying that the lastest version of the game allows you to claim your enemies warships once the war is won but then you cant do anything to them. No adding radar, no replacing those brilliant Japanese 25mm AA, no nothing. Do you suppose theyll ever change this?
I expected this to start with "What is the navy in Hearts of Iron 4?"
LOL, I original wrote it... I cut it for time that plus everyone knows what a navy is.
can anyone tell me what ships i need to transport army, nothing literally works :/
Armies will move automatically to friendly territory, just give them an order there. If you want land in enemy territory you need to do a naval invasion order. I made a quick video to show you.
ua-cam.com/video/P3UvhHW23PE/v-deo.html
Please post a new navy video, I don’t understand it
Why last submarine in the video is op?
Such a clean video, well done! Thanks for the info :D
Glad you liked it!
If anyone else is reading and you like HOI4 check out Dijon Dillan good edit/meme videos.
English Channal ??? hmmmm. maby Belgia Channal :D
Theres this other channel that ive watched from time to time that talks about mechanics but completly glosses over simple stuff even though they are titled "tutorial"
Your videos are so effective at clearing up any confusion when it comes to this game. I had no idea about the existence of the fleet/taskforce system even though it seems so basic, goes to show you how bad the game is at telling you anything
I think Fleets v Taskforces and assignment is probably the biggest hurdle for new players. The naval system is complex but still logical once you get over the controls.
@@Pydgin yeah when i was playing i usually played smaller nations or not so coastal ones so i didnt have to worry about naval invasions, also it took me asking a friend to figure out that you need naval supremacy in every single tile to make a landing, nowhere was that explained in game. AHHH
Meanwhile, im using the bath tub strategy to speedrun
I use bath tubs all the time. If it works it works... and it usually does until they encounter an enemy fleet :p
You can't explain the navy. Stop lying
oh can't I?
sub 3s are so overpowered that only with snorkel 1 and 3x3lvl torpedoes, with 40-50 subs i sunk whole japanese fleet in 1 battle off the coast of japan, under their air superiority.
Once again - thank you Man! And I really appreciate the details, like the one about ratios to screening. Looking forward to extension🤙
lady and gentlement he finally did it.
he explain how navy work!
Love it, you always give a few different things than the normal guides that makes all the difference,
A literal blessing to my campaigns
Ahh the videos I needed to see
Finally!! THANKS!
I've missed you.
hi!
Hi!
Man's insaneb
Helpfull as always. I wish in the future you will make some videos for advanced players as well.
I will eventually get to more advanced concepts but I want to cover everything in the game for new players first.
In the meantime you should check out 71cloak he has some more advanced videos and tests "what is best"
ua-cam.com/users/71Cloak
Sadly all this doens´t matter since 90 % of the time you just want naval superiority for naval invasions.
This is ten percent luck, twenty percent facts
Fifteen percent concentrated super deathstacks
Five percent convoys, fifty percent roleplay
And a hundred percent reason to alt+f4 any day.
Great info that should be in the tutorial. But the tutorial is rubbish for such an in depth game. Ps: could you just slow down slightly. As a noob, some of your quick explanations didn't stay in my grey matter. 😊😊
Yes but how Can i build a B I S M A R C K???
