You might go to a ski shop and get her one that's much longer and has some kind of intense insulation. Michigan has wet snow that gets into your bones at 32°. The dry snow of Colorado and Utah is way less piercing at 32°. Plus, when the wind hits it can almost paralyze you. And the frosting in the face...not so wonderful.
