Even the "first round" was set up by the show. My guess is that they have some sort of greenhouse studio where they bring different bugs and make them "fight" until one of them is dead. Rather cruel.
It is just like that Raspy cricket that ate a tarantula. But, many of these fights are unfair like Katydid vs orb weaver or vs centipede. It´s not like the katydids are weak, it is just that these fights are whether unfair or the enemy is stronger.

Nonetheless, I'm ok with it - just stop saying "It runs away from its predator then it comes back to fight again"... lol
