I think that this MV is telling us the story of a man who seeks comfort and security in the woman he loved during what might be his last moments. Exactly like how he did when he was alive. Just take the end of the MV and put it in the beginning: he dies, but he finds himself waking up in "purgatory" in an astronaut suit, because as a child he used his astronaut fantasy to create a world to escape to, in which he is safe from the family problems he has at home. She is the one who keeps him firm and grounded in life, and seems to do so even in his death. When he follows the girl around, notice how the environment becomes more lush and beautiful. I think that this is meant to show that even in his death, he looks to her as being his guiding light, just like she was to him while he was alive. The more beautiful and green the environment around him becomes, the closer he gets to heaven. When we see them dancing in the stars, it could be a figurative representation of him transitioning into death, as he remembers all the experiences he shared with her in his life. When the shots change into them dancing and he is no longer in his astronaut suit, this is when he truly finds peace after being lost, and accepts his death. I could be wrong, pero this is my interpretation of it.
I discovered this song because of the oyasumi punpun mv of Venz, that mv is the most beautiful oyasumi pupun mv, I watched so far.Punpun also wanted to become an astronaut when he is a kid.
Ultra Robust I never said that he is the best singer. Vocally there’s a lot of them that can beat JK but what separate him from others is his artistry.
I'm not filipino (I'm an indian girl) but my girlfriend who is filipino recommended me this song- AND I DONT REGRET LISTENING TO IT THIS ARTIST DESERVES SO MUCH MORE
I mean I'm American and I love foreign music something about understanding the feeling a song gives off despite the language barrier is something beautiful to me it's why I love art
@@themangoman9315 well im filipino and I dont really like or get my countries music sometimes. And when actually like songs from our country its only those little underrated songs that were only enjoyed by a couple of people around the world. And greatly appreciate that some people here are around the globe! This songs truly are hidden gems...
i love how in his final moments we see them fighting like his parents used to. Yet for every fight they had he clings on to the times where they were happily playing around and dancing, he refuses to see their bitter moments (probably knowing that he is taking his last breaths) and forces himself to see the girl whom he genuinely loved forever dancing with him just before everything turned black.
Being 'underrated' means being appreciated by fewer people but these people have good tastes. Rather than be appreciated by a mindless, follow-the-tide audience who just like music simply because it's the trend.
Di namn sa mindless tols,, di naman talaga lahat same ng music taste eh we respect nlng sa kanila,, btw, we have a same music taste too. God bless! :))
I just want to say you are an amazing human being that God has ever made. Your music speaks to me and comforts me in ways no one else can. Thank you for your music. Again, your mom is so proud and she is cheering for you. 😊❤
I don't understand the language. I don't understand a word from this song, and even with that, I STILL understand the emotion! The beautiful vocals that are coming from this song and how I can feel the sorrow in their voice as they sing. This song to me, even when I don't understand the language, I some how understand what is going on. And that right there is how you make a song.
yung sira na sarili mo dahil sa iyong pamilya, then you fell inlove tas akala mo maaayos ka na yun pala mas masisira ka. Until hindi mo na kaya yung bigat ng iyong damdamin, so you end up killing yourself. JK will be one of the memorable and best artist
I am Italian 🇮🇹 so I need an help to understand the lyrics, but what I do understand is that I really enjoy this kind of music, I mean the voice, the genre.. Great job!
I'm not good in english ,the song is meaningful friend . It has deep meaning . My interpretation to the song is he is a guy who wants to escape the earth because of many problems. He compared his girlfriend to galaxy ,the only place he can go and escape his problem ,to make him happy. Haha sorry di masyado marunong mag english

From what I listened and how the video portrays the music; The guy "woke up" and follows his girlfriend whilst going through to his memories. At the end of the video, The guy passed away and his girlfriend just hides the fact that the guy is dead and proceeds to move on.
From being a casual listener, I can draw that JK is an artist who actually values and incorporates artistic storytelling in his songs and music videos. He invests his passion, emotions and musicality to produce art that has meaning to him and not just for the sake of releasing music. Music is art and art becomes meaningful when one has its own interpretation of it and from what I've seen in these comments, people have created their own meaning of the song, perhaps one they relate to. And while the music in the mainstream media definitely shows that people rely on music for relatability or 'hugot', those songs don't share the same authenticity and genuineness that songs like this do. I have so much faith in OPM and I know Filipinos are very emotionally diverse people who have so much culture and art to offer to the wider global audience. It's just the execution of the art in the music industry that needs to be taken seriously.
Boy's dream was to become an astronaut and explore the whole kalawakan, but it was not easy for the kid to have a dream seeing that he grew up with that kind of environment. Transitioning doors interprets his memory chain of his dreams and the girl helped him open the doors for him and him following the girl interprets that he never gave up and continued to follow dreams. alas he met his Kalawakan and now living the dream but it was only for a short period of time. I think they broke up and boy didn't handle it very well, owing the fact she was the only light that lights up his entire universe. So he took his own life, recollecting his memories and realizes that he did achieve his dreams but now he lost it. Sorry for the bad english, nag prapractice po ako :)
I love it when musicians release music to express what needs to be expressed. Artistry of any form, be it music, acting, dancing, visual arts, language, literature, etc., should serve as a window. A window that can both show us the harsh reality of this world and give an escape from it at the same time. I stand with those who stand as eye openers in this blinding reality, I stan true art.
I hope one day this guy will be one of the symbols of OPM, I mean, slowly he's polishing himself to be a legend! Plus this is a really good song with a really beautiful story.
You guys know about the 7 seconds of flashback sa mga nangyari sa buhay ng isang tao before mamatay? This MV reminds of that. And he's wearing an astronaut costume because it's his dream that he wasn't able to achieve :< All in all, another masterpiece na naman. Supeeeerb!
TL;DR - It's basically how it's interpreted in the MV, a person using relationship as a form of escapism. I-konekta niyo sa first verse. Toxic in a sense na sobrang possessive at dependent nung tao sa kasintahan niya. Wag niyong gawing source of happiness ang ibang tao dahil maraming maaaapektuhan. :) Like, the song in itself is already telling a story.

JK is an underrated singer. Tuloy nya lng sana pag gawa ng kanta he will make it to the top. Pero galing mo mag explain. Hahaha by the way i do make songs kaya i like opm and i have time reading you essay hahahhaha
I think this MV shows a man recalling every event that happened in his life before he die. He remember everything about his past experience and regretting every bad decisions that he made and those last scenes were his imagination of what could have happened if he didn't chose the wrong decision. Eventually, he died and everything is pointless now. It's currently 9:25AM right now and i'm having an existential dread, please help. I just want to rest from these thoughts.
Janwel When has JK made an MV that is sweet and romantic? Buwan seemed like it but the MV proved otherwise. His other songs are heavy in meaning as well
I remember playing this song every 11pm while staring at the stars in the sky while talking to the person who made my quarantine less boring. She was so beautiful like the moon at it's biffest form, up until she stopped talking to me to regain her mental health, so nag-intay ako. Worth it yung pagiintay ko dahil after 3 months nakausap ko na ulit siya. I was so happy to able to communicate with her again and she's still the person I would love to go drink a coffee with. She will always remind me of how beautiful the sky is, she will be the moon that will light me through my darkest nights and she will always be my kalawakan.
Ganto ang tunay na Pinoy A R T I S T , Top Notch Music + this beautiful metaphorical video creating damn good work of art Pota masterpiece na naman idol JK, galing mo talaga❤️🎶🎶
JK's songs are always a masterpiece. sobrang deserve niyang mas umangat pa at mapakinggan pa.
F*@&! Finally! A very deep artist who creates sensible, different, and deep kind of music and music video. I hope most Filipinos will appreciate this kind of artist and sana naman mas marami pang maging katulad niya. Sana nmn graduate na tayo sa corny lyrics and way of singing. Di na nakausad sa makalumang ballad and belting. Tsk!
Salamat✨✨ Pakinggan niyo guys yung kanta nyang "Ulan". Worth it siya, pramis 👍
GUYS YOU SHOULD ALSO LISTEN TO KULIMLIM AT SAMPAGUITA!!! Sobrang ganda. All caps para mabasa niyo. Hahaha JK is a gem, rare artist in this music industry.
Pinapaligaya tlga tyo ni jk,kagabi ln un diwa party, ngaun nman mv ng kalawakan, super ganda at dinadala tyo ni jk s kakaibang dimension...bravo jk💙💙💙 Another road to 100M views💞💞💞💞💞💕💕💕💕
You held tight on to me Will never let go We're heading towards oblivion It is the darkness That's enwrapping us But I am your light So do not be petrified Oh, a few of mine We will float up so high Oh, the great expanse, So few Will not let you depart, I count You're my only great expanse So few, so few Will not let you depart Mutual apprehension All about the unknown All of the answers Necessary for all my questions Is now being held Tightly in my hand You, my precious light You'll be the one to guide Oh, a few of mine We will float up so high Oh, the great expanse, So few Will not let you depart I count, I count You're my only great expanse So few, so few Will not let you depart Ooh, oh... Oh, the great expanse, So few Will not let you depart I count, I count You're my only great expanse So few, so few Will not let you depart Ooohhh...
I think the word ILANG is “an isolated place”. di ko rin naintindihan anong ilang ang ibig nyang sabihin dito kaya sinearch ko 😅. For me, an isolated place makes sense for kalawakan and the meaning of the song. “Oh aking ilang” like “Oh my isolation“
You guys should listen to the whole album. I’ve been listening to it for a month now. And I’m surprised that most of you haven’t heard of it. My personal faves are Kalawakan, Malay, and Jenny. But every song is worth hearing ❤️
Preserving the true meaning of music unlike the todays generation culturing diamond beat but has shitty lyrics. I'm telling you juan karlos is the next best opm artist
- lost - person - You just haven’t listened to enough underrated OPM artists. There are so many that can beat mainstream OPM it’s crazy. Thankfully, some do get recognized for a few of their songs but then it isn’t in the radio as often after a few months..
I think meaning nito, is just mere na nag flashback lahat ng memories niya before mamatay.
A review of past lives lived, cherished, gone but never forgotten. The woman was there, the one the rocketman loves to which she ultimately guides him and midway soften him up to accept the void to which we all are headed for. Great music.
I'm expecting a love story or romance for MV of this song but damn I was wrong! You never really fail to amaze me! This band deserve to be famous rather than those so-called singers na walang ibang ginawa kundi mag cover ng magagandang kanta!
Kumapit sa akin 'Di bibitawan Tayo'y patungo sa kawalan Ang kadiliman Ang bumabalot Ako ang iyong ilaw Kaya't 'wag nang matakot Tawaging ilaw Tayo'y lulutang O, kalawakan Ilaw 'Di pakakawalan Bilang Ikaw ang kalawakan Ilaw, ilaw 'Di pakakawalan Sabay nalalaman Ang mga 'di alam Ang mga sagot Sa aking mga katanungan Ay nakahawak Sa aking kamay Ikaw, aking ilaw Ikaw ang gagabay O, aking ilaw Tayo'y lumulutang O, kalawakan Ilaw 'Di pakakawalan Bilang, bilang Ikaw ang kalawakan Ilang, ilang 'Di pakakawalan Oh O, kalawakan Ilang 'Di pakakawalan Ilang, bilang Ikaw ang kalawakan Bilang, ilang 'Di pakakawalan Oh
Simpe, but deep... The message is, we really have to treasure every moment in our lives. What they wanted to show on the mv is a Dying man in his very last moment remembering/ hallucinating his most memorable life events. And its sad that you can no longer do anything to correct your mistakes. Or even say sorry to people you hurt. And you know the fact you're hopelessly dying, and you will be gone forever.
I have been trying, for the longest time, to figure out how this song makes me feel. It’s so beautiful. I feel a sparkle in my eyes. I feel flashbacks to a time that doesn’t exist. I feel like I’m floating in space in bliss. I can’t properly describe it.
The song is meaning full Time pass by, children is learning so we need to understand them too, its hard to fight from depression alone. And its really sad that the real world is like that, The reality is really challenging all i can say is we fight for the greater good to make this world a better place The "sistema" is good too, listen to it Im sure this man is going to be a history make some more ♥️♥️
Sa dahilan ng gusto kitang makasama na tayong dalawa lang.❤ Btw, I really really loveeee how you express feelings through music❤ Support OPM!! GALING TALAGA IDOL❤
I'm the type of guy that would never be too confident in themselves. it sucks that I'm like this but everytime I try to change, there's always something that proves that my doubts are all true. but I could still say that i'm in love with this song. The song's tempo that comes from a slow pace that spirals into fast pace especially because it's like my thoughts. At first I don't feel anything at all and it's all fun and games until my mind and thoughts start spiraling into something worse and it keeps and keeps on going, until it all comes to an abrupt stop like nothing happened. Then there's just me standing there with all the repercussions that comes after it and I have to deal with it on my own. I don't know what I'm saying but I'm just writing what I feel like writing. Idk It feels like my life is the oyasumi punpun mv that used this song. At first it's all calm like I'm sitting in the eye of a storm. Then life's hard parts come in like a 50 wheeler truck crashed onto me and everything starts spiraling again like my thoughts. Then it just ends. Just like that. After I turn back to my addictions, I just forget all my responsibilities and worries. Idk I can't help but laugh yknow. It's all insane. Everything and everyone is insane. Why does everyone give even a tiny bit of meaning to something in life. "Why cry over about it" I thought and yet here I am crying over useless sh*t I like. Why are there things that grow on us that prevent us from offing ourselves. Why do things we love and like exist just to stop us from leaving this plane of existence. Why. Idk. Also I like how the mv treats the girl as the guy's form of escapism like his entire 20-40 years of existence's only ray of light and of hope. There's one in all of us in different forms. Mine is my phone where I can check out my favorite idols and play my favorite game for that quick rush. I understand the guy for having a girl as his form of escapism. I used to have someone that I treat as the only thing that can make my day. It was a girl too but I wasn't in it for her looks, I just wanted to be around her company. We stuck with each other at first due to being the only people we knew after entering a new school. But we started to drift apart when we got new friends and such. Can't even approach her again as I'm not that confident that i can strike up a conversation without bothering her or even have a topic to talk about now that we're well aquainted with the new school and people. We started being better in our academics too after we stopped talking to each other. She must've hated me as I was always the conversation starter and I just suddenly stopped approaching her. I'm sorry. I'm not confident enough to be someone worth talking to. We used to chat through entire nights. But now I can't even remember how we did that or what we even talked about. But enough about me. All in all, she was my entire ray of light and hope too and I can really empathize with guy in the mv. Idk Anyways, I have some more thoughts but idk. I'm tired. Literally and ambiguously figuratively. This is all cringe idk. What keeps me from the toaster bathtub (not like I have a toaster nor a bathtub to begin with) is the thought that what I'm thinking is probably just something cringe anyways. Even I doubt my own feelings. But anyways, I hope no one sees my comment. I don't know.
Ambigat naman ng theme ng MV. It really hit hard sa akin dahil sa recent death of a loved one. This is what I imagine how it'd be like pag nass final moments bago natin iwan ang mundo at bumalik sa kalawakan na kinabibilangan ng ating kaluluwa. Great video for an awesome song.
This is, actually, my favorite song. I sang It today at a presentation on my school. I'd want to share with everybody the good feelings from Kalawakan, because both video and music are really good! From what I understood from the video-clip: it's telling the evolution of the story of a little boy, trying to skip from his parents fights, and the suffering from that. That was represented by his astronault costume: the way he finds to escape the reality when It gets bad. And it's a really good analogy, because when he get on his own relationship, and he feels REALLY good, and on that moment of complete entertainment, sure he appears with that astronault costume again. Until he see himself in a fight with his partner, too. And, in this moment, he's without the astronalt costume. So he probably fights, drinks a lot, and gets on a accident. And... unfortunately, die And the way that he is seeing his life getting closer from the end: skiping off the hospital and chasing his lovely partner, but with all that physical troubles from his accident. Until he gets on a room with all that moments mixed in, and he sees that will not get closer from his partner anymore. This process of moments between the start and the end of his life, was showed in this clip really well. And the song hold the intensity of his love for his partner, as something really painfull to tragic and abruptly turn the way to the end. That was my interpretation. Love from Brazil!
Lahat ng music/lyric vids ng kantang 'to sa UA-cam, 'di man lang umabot ng 1 million views. Grabe, I did not realize how underrated this song is. Sana sumikat 'to, because this song deserves more appreciation.
Hirap eh. On one hand, gusto ko sumikat pa siya lalo so he'll be more supported, so he'll be encouraged to write more songs. On the other hand, ayokong gawan ng remix ng mga jejemon mga kanta niya lol.
"Kalawakan" Kumapit sa akin, di bibitawan Tayo'y patungo sa kawalan Ang kadiliman ang bumabalot Ako ang iyong ilaw kaya't wag na matakot Oh aking ilang, tayo'y lulutang O kalawakan, ilang Di pakakawalan bilang Ikaw ang kalawakan, ilang (ilang) Di pakawalan Sabay nalalaman ang mga di alam Ang mga sagot sa aking mga katanungan Ay nakahawak sa aking kamay Ikaw aking ilaw, ikaw ang gagabay Oh aking ilang, tayo'y lumulutang Oh kalawakan, ilang Di pakakawalan bilang (bilang) Ikaw ang kalawakan ilang (ilang) Di pakakawalan ha... came from the oyasumi punpun mv now I'm in pain appreciating every bit of this song
What a coincidence, me to.
Sameee
TwT same....
same...
An oyasumi punpun mv with this song? Now im interested
Wow
Why are you so good
Mas kapani-paniwala to kesa dun sa Skitzo na theory
Damn bro ur so good🔥🔥
I discovered this song because of the oyasumi punpun mv of Venz, that mv is the most beautiful oyasumi pupun mv, I watched so far.Punpun also wanted to become an astronaut when he is a kid.
He's the true artist that came from "The Voice". Most of those The Voice Alumni are merely singers.
I love JK's songs. But let's just be happy for him and enjoy his music without putting down or judging other alumni. Can you do that?
@@fu6555 stating the facts is not putting others down. There's nothing wrong with being just a singer.
He may be true artist but they are better singers

JM -TRUE!!! 💯💯💯

Wow !
So he took his own life, recollecting his memories and realizes that he did achieve his dreams but now he lost it.

bamboo trained him well there some essence of his songs to it.
Reading the comments just amazes me how people can express themselves deeply and sincerely.
Iba ka, JK!
Explanation:
//
//
Nung unang kinanta ‘yung chorus, swabe pa ‘yung pagkakakanta. I-konekta niyo sa first verse.
Toxic in a sense na sobrang possessive at dependent nung tao sa kasintahan niya.
Wag niyong gawing source of happiness ang ibang tao dahil maraming maaaapektuhan. :)
Like, the song in itself is already telling a story.

Btw, I really really loveeee how you express feelings through music❤
Support OPM!! GALING TALAGA IDOL❤
got here because of oyasumi/goodnight punpun mv fanmade, the ending part tlga got me really good goosebumps that guitar solo real hits hard
Ifeel like his rivermaya, parokya and eheads of this generation 💯
Cinematography at its finest
Idk
It feels like my life is the oyasumi punpun mv that used this song. Idk
I can't help but laugh yknow.
Idk
Anyways, I have some more thoughts but idk.
Great video for an awesome song.
one of jk's best worth to be included in my playlist💪❤
And... unfortunately, die
And the way that he is seeing his life getting closer from the end: skiping off the hospital and chasing his lovely partner, but with all that physical troubles from his accident.
Oh aking ilang, tayo'y lulutang
O kalawakan, ilang
Di pakakawalan bilang
Ikaw ang kalawakan, ilang (ilang)
Di pakawalan
Sabay nalalaman ang mga di alam
Ang mga sagot sa aking mga katanungan
Ay nakahawak sa aking kamay
Ikaw aking ilaw, ikaw ang gagabay
Oh aking ilang, tayo'y lumulutang
Oh kalawakan, ilang
Di pakakawalan bilang (bilang)
Ikaw ang kalawakan ilang (ilang)
Di pakakawalan ha...
O kalawakan ilang
Di pakakawalan bilang (bilang)
Kaw ang kalawakan ilang (ilang)
Di pakakawalan ha...
Thanks
"tayo ay lulutaw" hindi tayo'y lumulutang.
