I have a slight red/green deficiency, but it has made me smarter with colors than anyone I know from studying color theory to compensate. What helps a lot is a program called ColorPix. It tells you the RGB or CMYK values of the color your mouse is over. So if I can't tell if something on the screen is bright yellow or bright green, I hover over it and see R:150 G:255 B:0 and know it's yellow-green out to ruin my day. Sometimes my brain assumes really dark blue's are purple too. Even though there may not be red in it, my brain thinks there _might_ be red and I just don't see it, so it makes it look purple.

On Wednesday, March 2015, Avalanche Biotechnologies in Menlo Park and the University of Washington in Seattle announced a licensing agreement to develop the first treatment for colorblindness. The deal brings together a gene therapy technique developed by Avalanche with the expertise of vision researchers at the University of Washington. "Our goal is to be treating colorblindness in clinical trials in patients in the next one to two years," says Thomas Chalberg, the founder and CEO of Avalanche. The agreement has its roots in a scientific breakthrough that occurred six years ago. That's when two vision researchers at the University of Washington used gene therapy to cure a common form of colorblindness in squirrel monkeys. "This opened the possibility of ultimately getting this to cure colorblindness in humans," says Jay Neitz, who runs the Color Vision Lab at UW along with his wife, Maureen Neitz.

An interesting effect I've noticed from wearing strong prescription glasses is that reds and blues will separate out of bright lights and stuff, such that even a light that appears white might have this effect. So, that whole eye injection thing... Would it be possible to create cones that detect different wavelengths of light, like ultraviolet? Tetrachromacy is a condition where people (usually women) can see ultraviolet light, so would it be possible to take a normal, trichromatic person and make them tetrachromatic?
Sadly tetrachomacy effects only women and very regularly causes their children to be colourblind. So basically half the world has a small chance at seeing more colours in exchange for screwing their kids over by making them see less.
Huh. Cool video. I remember Radiolab doing a segment about all of that research (monkeys, eyeball injections, that stuff) a while ago, so if you want more in-depth on that you should seek it out.

jay neitz is focused on mypia managemen now, not color blindness. That's so sick.
I want to know if you can train your eyes to see colour better by taking different colour tests and etc.
i rather stay colorblind than get an injection in the eye
Why?
So, that whole eye injection thing... Would it be possible to create cones that detect different wavelengths of light, like ultraviolet? Tetrachromacy is a condition where people (usually women) can see ultraviolet light, so would it be possible to take a normal, trichromatic person and make them tetrachromatic?
Sadly tetrachomacy effects only women and very regularly causes their children to be colourblind. So basically half the world has a small chance at seeing more colours in exchange for screwing their kids over by making them see less.
Ahhh, I had heard that more men were colour blind than women, but I had no idea why. Now I do :)
It's the anti-patriarchy oppressing men as usual.
calsta619 hahahahaha, blame *Mother* nature ;)
Me being colorblind, I 100% will get an eye injection for it.
Over a decade human trials are not started yet
i need color vision treatment.
never
Huh. Cool video. I remember Radiolab doing a segment about all of that research (monkeys, eyeball injections, that stuff) a while ago, so if you want more in-depth on that you should seek it out.
No progressions till today. I am doubt if Jay Neitz focuses on CVD. He moved to myopia therapy now..
Is Greg Foot part giraffe with a case of I have to lean my head backwards?
Was there a number in that circle?
The colour vision deficiency of denotomauly or whatever and whatever and everything of those can be stimulated in android. Click the build number 4 times and then go and find it in Developer Options.
I have take a lot of those colourblindness test, and a lot of them you can see a number if you not colour blind and you will see another if you are colour blind. I can't see any of the numbers. So yes i'm badly colour blind.
But the next think then. will i get it fixed if i can? Nope i will not get it fixed. why should i? I know i don't see colour as normal people do, but im 26 and how i see the colour is normal for me. Sure there are some work i cannot do and hate when games do not have a colourblind options to help me difference good and bad guys.
Also if i get it fixed i probably see how ugly some of the colour choice i made for my clothes and painting i have and a lot more.
Also a reason i normal stick to Black/gray/white colours because i know i can see them as normal people :)
