    Hey Martin, I think there’s something you should consider when planning for the marble targets. You should rebuild your marble bounce accuracy setup so that the marbles land in the cup but then leave it for a few days and occasionally test if it’s still accurate because there’s a chance that the accuracy might change as the surroundings do. It could be that your spring mechanism gets sticky on humid days and thus cause the marble to not bounce as far just as an example. This is only so you don’t run into issues when you have a really small target for the marbles to land in and so you don’t have to do fine tuning before each use of the machine. But I totally love how you test every single part of the MMX before you mount it to the final machine.

      My biggest concern watching this way the silicon breaking down over time and maybe losing its bounce. but I suspect that wouldn't happen often and would be something to happen slowly, though less dense materials maybe more often? But I know almost nothing about this.

    I was having a horrible day. I was awfully sick with a fever, and I had an acute chest cough; but for a moment, I had entirely forgotten I was ill, and was boppin' to the beat like a madman. You are a genius and I thank God every Wednesday that people like you, the wonderful members of the Marble Machine X and the beautiful Wintergatan Community exist.
    Thanks to the entire MMX team for working so hard to make this musical masterpiece a reality.
    Lots of love! ❤️❤️❤️

    Don't ever stop "overengineering" your designs. I love how you reach for perfection every time, and aren't afraid to make design changes to improve the quality of your musical sound. Your music, your creativity and your quirky sense of humor are always a bright spot to my week. I've loved watching you build this masterpiece from almost the beginning, and all your mistakes and "ah ha!" moments and infectious enthusiasm for this project have inspired me in my own creativity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I audibly yelped when you cut that notch out of the top. I guess it's less important when you've got thick silicone for the drum heads. Hehe.

    I really like this episode. It's super mellow. Also, I like when you take a little bit of a break and don't work yourself to death. Sometimes it's nice to see you relax a bit and make some music.

    Why did you always put the mic directly under the hit point for the tests? Moving it closer to the edges might yield some interesting sound variations...

      @dino_bread4246 5 років тому

      If it's centred it's always the same sound no matter the wear and tear on the skin, at least that's my assumption and ease of replication in parts

    • @Ravlen1
      @Ravlen1 5 років тому +2

      @@dino_bread4246 no, otherwise the sound wouldn't change when he changed the thickness of the silicone. As the surface wears, the sound will change. That will always be the case, no matter where the mic is.
      My issue was that the sound was too clicky/poppy, and maybe moving the mic to the side would make it more thumpy.

    When I heard about these 3D printed parts being printed on one of the special 3D printers I was thinking "He is not going to janky modify them in the end ... is he?". Turns out he just outright drops them (not in the Linus way). I had to just smile when I saw the wood.
    Nice. Sounds good.

    We need to fund Martin harder so he can hire a whole team of people to do his grunt work, allowing him to create more videos with the same amount of effort. 1 week is too long to wait for this wonderful content. This is the ONLY UA-cam channel I have the bell on for.

    As a brass player, I can barely hear the differences between the different configurations, so I believe this is really overkill for a simple beat. However, your persistence to find the perfect sound and look for everything in this build is so inspiring. I would never think of trying so many configurations if I were building something like this. Major props, man. I love what you do.
