Is it not good practice to "load" the taper roller bearing with grease prior to installing?

I now preload the thrust bearing with grease and once the blade is re-installed, it pushes the grease through the taper bearing before you have pumped the blade full of grease.

Could you perhaps share the specs for grease seals? I have spare SKF bearings, balls and nuts but I forgot to measure the V-ring seals before I last serviced my H5 Autoprop. I think they are SKF V-ring seals.

Did you ever get a response? I'm looking at SKF 400650

@@robertvonkulig801no, neither Brunton or King Propulsion responded. Let me know if they fit!

Could you just clarify the torque settings from the video please? I should probably know, but is it fourteen or forty, fifteen or fifty you’re suggesting?

Torque for the Autoprop is a bit of a black art. Bruntons recommend 15 Nm or about 11 ft lbs. However.. The blade must fall on its own weight and sometimes the system torque does not allow this. So first I will add some grease to the thrust bearing before tightening the nut - not too much to contaminate the loctite. Then a little WD40 on the lip seal. Both of these will give you a closer blade friction and help set the torque. Finally just back off the blade nut slowly until the blade falls like you want it to, gently. Then tighten the tab screw, find your notch and bend the tab into the nut and you are done! I like to compare all 3 blades as I go around so they are the same.
