Nice demo. I have MC909 in my live setup for many years and it still is a core element of all set with its midi/synth/sampling capabilities. Even few well known and described firmware bugs and nuances can't ruin the power of the Groovebox.
I’m French and totally confirmed your feeling mate… I’m actually searching a nice example of the MC-909 by the way… In the nineties I was mixing on 3 turntables then I had the need to use replace the third one by machines I can program and use during my set so I bought a Yamaha RM1x the year it dropped out on the market… Then a bit later the MC-909 was introduced but no more money……. IT WAS MY ABSOLUTE DREAM It was like if ROLAND created this machine for my usage, with the turntable speed fader….!!!!!……. I’m 44 yo now, and I want it NOW. 😊
I love mine and use it a lot on my tracks! Mine is expanded with the Platinum Trax SRX board, max RAM, and the Don Solaris sound set installed. Massive box, you have it sounding ace here, nice! P.S. try using it with a keystep controller, trust me, great match, the arps etc. Cheers from Canada. RF
The maximum RAM is 256, but in fact it works great and with a memory of 512 MB I have been using it in this form for 9 years, as well as 9 expansion cards, 05 is his own, created specifically for him and not a phantom like everyone else
@@RenniefosterRF NO, only one card can be installed in the box, 9 cards are in my collection. But 512 MB memory, yes, I’ve been using it for 9 years and everything works fine
Hey! I just updated the firmware of my mc 909. It adds a few functions (which I haven't tested yet), fixes some bugs and system glitches, and adds a hundred new patches. Have you updated it yet? A smartmedia card reader is required to do so. Then just put the update file (can be downloaded from the roland website) on the card. When you insert the card into the groovebox and turn it on, it will update automatically.
You forgot about the SRX Expansions that are available,,if you can get a hold of them! I’ve got the SRX-05 (supreme dance) expansion board installed on my Mc909 and it adds so much more sounds, patterns and drum kits too.
@@BerlinHouseMusic What do you mean? In terms of its capabilities, the MV8800 has the same capabilities as the MPС4000 and 5000 and even more. In general, these are tools for the same tasks. By the way, it has even more technical capabilities than the manual says, which is simply huge. For example, although the MV has a maximum RAM of 512 MB, in fact it works perfectly with 1GB of memory, its drive is also listed as an SD, in fact it is a DVD drive and it reads DVD discs perfectly
Do you think it is safe to remove a smartmedia card while the mc909 is switched on? I should swap a card during a set but cant find any information on swapping cards. A lot of information on this groovebox seems to disappear as old websites are taken down. Therefore great you have this channel!
Don't risk it. These cards are very sensitive (and old) and it seems that they can easily get the files corrupted. Also, always backup the files on the card to your computer.
Love your video it helped me a lot, but please we are not pro like you, you're going too fast with the controls and machines, you're not explaining what you're doing and you're going waaay to fast for someone to replicate
Thanks for this. It’s pretty crazy that there are so many newer videos out for a machine that came out over 20 years ago.
I just bought mine today….
Good to hear! welcome to the Groovebox club 😁
I'm jealous 😬..
I recently acquired an MC 909 as well. LOVE it!
Keep the videos coming. It is great to see how you use it.
Great to hear! The MC 909 is a real treat! More videos to come!
Just dug my MC-909 out of the attic earlier today, was in it's case the last like 18 years.
Thanks for content.
that is dope! the fact that you have had it sitting there for 18 years indicated that you are a real G
Looks so much fun. I love all in one groove boxes. Nice demo. Thanks guys
Thanks for watching!

Totally Agree!
I bought a practically new rarity of this machine here in Brazil. Does it seem to me that many of us are craving performance and are tired of DAWs?
I have the same feeling!

No I haven't updated it, but to be honest, I am not planning on updating either haha, kinda happy with what it is hehe
The presets are pretty cool, decent deep house vibes
true that!

I've 3 or 4 of the expansions, with the upgrade RAM card (I think), been in my attic the last 18 years as I was abroad working.
The SRX Expansions were already on there when I bought it!
Hola amigo buenas noches donde se pueden encontrar nuevos bancos de sonido para la roland 909.
Muchas felicidades por tu estupendo video.
So glad I’ve never had the pleasure of using this box
hahaha yeah it a seductive machine
How do you hook 🪝 it up to your laptop 💻 or other instruments 🎸 🎺🎷
there I was... thinking I would not need one... haha! Thanks Habibi, now I want one too :D
Hahaha juuuuup!
Thats dope..
Damn! For a sec I thought there was a new mc909.
Oh that would have been amazing too!
still have mine
Great video! I still use it in my studio.Let's look at samplers like WE and MPС, I have MV8800 and MPС 4000 and 5000 and X
Omg, I have been wanting the MV8800 for years now! How does it compare to the MPC? I have the MPC 2000XL myself

Once again an awesome Roland Groovebox showcase!
Really enjoying these!
Just one question, will you also be featuring the smaller brother, the MC-303?
Happy you dig the video! Regarding the MC-303 it would make sense to make a video about it at one point as well :)
@@BerlinHouseMusic I was also kinda asking, as I have one myself for quite some time; but I am struggling a bit to make it work for me.
It does Hoover bass so I guess I have to buy 10 of them now.
jup jup

Yes
