    I make about the same but with a 2002 SLP, mine came in with 345hp, bigger pipe, p&p TB and a tune, I'm getting 390hp to flywheel.
    Love the BMR Suspensions (is it ?) Torque Arm (and the whole system under the car), I just ripped the stock TA mount bolt on mine some time ago and had to crawl under there to replace it, I see you got sub-frame connectors on too, nice !

    I have a 98 firebird m6 with long tube headers, ls6 intake, ported throttle body, stock heads, flowmasters and Tick Performance stage 3 torquer cam. I put down 390 to the rear wheels on stock heads. So his numbers are not that far off.

    I have the C6 zo6 vette wheels on the rear of my ss. I had to add a 1/4" spacer in order to clear the bump stop but now if I have someone in the back seat it rides low enough that any decent pot hole will cause the tire to kiss the quarter panel. What's your situation like with the larger tires/wheels?

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  8 років тому

      is yours lowered? i dont remember what width the wheels you're talking about are. probably 10.5? maybe 11.5? running 315s or 305s? i have had the same problem you had in other camaros and birds i owned, especially when lowered. thats why i didnt lower this one. and why i went with 10.5 rims and 305s ultimately aside from price diff.
      315s are technically too wide. they usually rub. they fit.. but... not really... if they rub they are technically too big. also different brands are different widths. i think the 305s i got were actually the same width as the 295s I had on it before once mounted. vs something like a nitto which is usually wider than advertised, so this car didnt have any rubbing issues with it, however i rarely had a lot of weight in it. i usually took as much weight out as i could.
      i know it sounds like a shitty and kind of ghetto thing to do to your car, what I've done in the past with a lowered car, 315s and 11 inch rims, was to roll the lip on the wheel well, remove the bump stops, and take a small sledge hammer to every part of the wheel well that had black tire scuffs on it. if you do it precisely and take your time, u can stretch the metal, rather than making craters in it.. precisely, meaning not too hard, not hit the sharp edge of the hammer to it and make a crease, etc. I've done it to where you'd never know by looking at it, that someone hammered the crap out of it. as for the bump stops... id put aftermkt ones on instead of the ones on the side. those things are annoying. in truth though, i have gone extended periods of time without them at all. you rarely ever hit the bump stop in normal driving unless u hit a huge pothole or a curb or a large mammal. just.... dont hit anything. lol. and it would take a pretty large amount of tq and hp to make it hit the bump stop while drag racing... and if it does? then you really need to spend some money on setting your suspension up haha

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  8 років тому

      oh. my wheels were aftermarket btw.not stock. so.. they were 18x10.5. not 19.. that makes a difference too...... when i did 19s in the rear with 315s or 305s and lowered it, thats when i had to get crazy with it.

    The engine mods you talk about here wouldn't create anything close to 400 HP. In fact with 142000 mi you're lucky if it just took you back up to the original 320.

    I got 315s on mine bro and it rubs like bitch when I hit a bump, my tires are starting to get all cut up from the outside...I need new springs too tho so that might be the issue idk.

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  8 років тому

      yeah, for 315s you have to cut the lip of the fender down using a sandpaper disk, and also you have to bang in the wheel well with a small sledge hammer, and cut down the suspension stopper with a cut off wheel, especially if the car is lowered. had to do that on one of my old ones where i was running 19's on the rear and 18's front. they were wide 5 spoke vette c5 style chrome rims. on this car, i didnt have any of those issues with stock height, 18 rear and 17 front 305s. but honestly the 305s i put on ended up being the same size give or take as the 295's i had on the car before.. brands tend to brag about size i think... a 305 nitto drag radial would have been much wider. but anyway, the work i mentioned takes about 2 hours and doesnt cost anything unless you need to buy an angle grinder, in which case, buy it and return it when you're done lol.

      SAL GERVASI MUSIC its rare to fine one with as low of miles as yours has these days. im assuming you paid more than 10k for it. as for mine, i sold it years ago. the guy pulled the engine and put a built ls7 in its place and gave it a paint job.

    • @hasty-carnaage1518
      @hasty-carnaage1518 4 роки тому

      Is 142k a ton of miles in your opinion?
      3rd and 4th gen camaros are very commonly driven alot. My camaro had 124k on the dash but I think the odometer didn't work when I bought it. Paid 800$ for an 82 Berlinetta, minor rust and needs painted, had the 305sbc and a th(turbo)350 transmission. Front trailing arms and brackets are replaced, rear plate for trailing arms were also newer, they kept the original rear trailing arms on because they were in great shape still. Overall perfect project.

    The LS6 cam is smaller than the LS1 cam? Are you high???
    97'-99' LS1 .479/.472 lift, 207/199 duration 117 LSA
    01 LS6 .525/.525 lift, 218/204 duration 116 LSA
    Also 383 hp at the wheels=/= 400 at the crank. Please, show me a car that only loses 4.25% power through the drive train.

      Only time i said ls6 was in talking about the i take. Not cam. I was comparing early ls1 to later ls1 before and after they switched to the ls6 intake for ls1 and ls6.
      2. Then i guess i have a lot more than 400 at the crank becsuse because i definitely have 383 at the wheels. Thx for calling that to my attention. Not giving my car enough credit.

    • @TheReadArmy

      "But then they put a smaller cam and smaller injectors on it" 1:59

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  9 років тому +5

      start from 1:45 bro.. i said, early model LS1 with stock LS1 intake, had larger cam and larger injectors, then later LS1 models, (not ls6) swapped to LS6 intake and put smaller cam and smaller injectors with same overall stock HP rating. by smaller, i mean marginally... I never said that the LS6 has a smaller cam than an LS1. its a "different" motor... 96-99 LS1s had shitty (by comparison) intakes. in 2000 they started using the LS6 intake on the LS1 from the factory.. it is very common for early LS1 car owners to put LS6 intakes on their car because they are better.. (which is why mine has one....) GM wanted to keep the same HP rating in the camaro / firebird from 98 through 02. Keep in mind, i'm NOT talking about vette engines.
      We square now? :)

    You have pretty low oil pressure. Should be about 50psi on a cold start.

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  8 років тому

      you're absolutely right, it's been someyhing I've kind of checked into periodically but im still not completely sure its not the gauge itself. i haven't hooked up an external gauge yet. the reason i think it may be the gauge or sensor is because when i rev it, the pressure rockets up. i dont drive thencar right now so its not a huge issue. i sold the car to someone and they didnt make the payment so i repo'ed it. they blew out second gear in it so i have to fix that before anything / before i drive it anymore. i have a daily driver (supercharged mini cooper S lol) I'll probably just sell the car again rather thsn dump any more money in it, or buy a project and yank what i can out of this car and stab it in. but it woulf have to be a pretty cool car to destroy an SS

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  8 років тому

      +Jake Tannen I looked into this at work on all data. it's showing that minimum oil pressure is safe at 4psi and average running is 40psi, max is 60psi. so my gauge showing about 40, is right on par. but I did run a series of tests in my downtime and the sending unit is actually going bad in the car. hasn't failed, but is going bad. the gauge works fine. Just curious, where did your 50psi come from? a tech sheet, or a forum? or experience as an engine builder? and do you mean 50 exactly when the car starts, or until it warms up? oil temp and weight will also affect oil pressure readings too, fyi. I tend to use thinner oil because of the time of year I tend to drive the car (if ever). but yeah, oil pressure can jump up to 50psi on initial start, because the engine revs up quite a bit on initial start. on some new cars, the engine revs immediately to 3000 rpm or so, which is the main reason they use 0 or 05 oils. if they used thicker stuff, the oil filter could explode on cold start lol. (I've actually witnessed this)

    • @SheerMayhem
      @SheerMayhem 8 років тому

      +Mitch B I've owned 3 LS1 F bodys and cold start has always been around 50 psi. Sometimes closer to 60 psi if it's cold enough. Once the oil warms all the way up, it's around 30-35 psi at idle. Good to hear that it's probably your OPSU that's going bad and not actual pressure.

    Hang on how can you be making 383 rwhp with a stock cam? I'm calling bs, 400 crank equates 340 rwhp, that's usually accomplished from full exhaust free mods lid and a tune 340-350rwhp. Your not making almost 40 more hp then me even with your LS6 intake which is good for maybe 10hp and is widely debated. If you would research you will see the my 02 came with the bigger injectors as all did, many people think otherwise, it's the vortec cam GM used from the trucks for bottom end torque in the 01/02 cars and the LS6 intake that was different. I like your car allot but if your a car guy you should know this, maybe the dyno was happy.

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  8 років тому +2

      +Stevie Bottz yeah you're pretty much right. i was kind of guessing at rwhp, but, engine hp was just shy of 400 on the dyno. may have been calibrated incorrectly, who knows. either way, it's a fast enough car to get you pulled over, and loud enough that the cops can hear you coming from almost literally a mile away, so, it stays parked most of the time.
      unfortunately, i cant take down the video, re-edit it, repost it etc without taking up way too much time for what it's worth, just to be factually accurate, so i leave it as a topic of debate. hell.. even a comment saying im wrong, is a comment worth having...

    Hugger orange?

    • @MythicGuitarCompany
      @MythicGuitarCompany  9 років тому

      Eric Neuhaus nah, it's normal every day camaro "bright red"... That's what they called it from 93-02 give or take. ironically, it's just about the exact same color code they have used on most Chevy cars since the 60's with different names every few years. Fiesta red, Torch red, blah blah. With that said, i do like Hugger orange on these cars... I've been thinking about a repaint. I just may do that... It's cheaper than the red believe it or not... dang... Now you have me thinking....
      but... the reason for the orange tint, is probably the color balance of my phone, and whatever device you're viewing on. It looks orange to me too now, but i never really noticed it because i see the car every day, and automatically see it as red. funny how your brain does that.
