Hi! Awesome looking colonies! I actually caught a Crematogaster queen last week, (late September) and I was wondering, will she hibernate before laying eggs? Or will she lay eggs after hibernation? Thanks!!!
Thanks! She should be able to lay eggs before winter, but I’ve had queens that didn’t reach that point. For me, I don’t need to hibernate them, but if you would want to put her in a wine fridge, or colder area (warmer than inside a fridge) then you can.
@@HeadHunterrYT They are fully-claustral, so she wouldn't need to eat anything until she has workers :D Make sure to not disturb her too much, as some queens can be more prone to stress than others
I think they grow pretty quickly. As long as you provide them with a lot of protein, their larvae will grow quickly. But like most species, they have started to slow down, and not as many workers are enclosing because of winter

Great vids m8 got a Question i digged up a red ant nest outside my backyard and millions of ants came at meh lol ummm then a queen came out i think well it is one bc it has wings idk what it is but ik it is a red ant with wings and no it isnt a termite thank you please reply
Most likely it was an alate, since once colonies become more mature, and their numbers increase, they make alates, or Queen Ants which have not yet mated that fly out during Spring-Fall.
Very nice my crematogaster queens have founded colonies as well. Im thinking of getting the new 2 chamber mini hearth for . maybe mac can make it a bit larger than normal to be a permanent residence

Only a few of the Crematogaster queens have taken their wings, but most still keep them. Bestest of luck with your colony :D
