    I've been using the CLEAR2O ADVANCED WATER FILTRATION PITCHER - CWS100 for years. It uses solid carbon filtration which prevents channeling. What makes the Clear2O unique is that it attaches directly to the faucet tap and fills the pitcher with water in seconds, which is convenient, but I can't tell whether or not the filter has a chance to work appropriately. Brian comes through again, delivering this video as promised. Very interesting finding, re: cobalt. My only wish was that your pre-filtration control sample had more contaminants so we could really put this filter through its paces and see if it really delivers as promised!
    I very much like my Clearly Filtered pitcher's performance, though the physical pitcher itself leaves a little to be desired. I don't like the flow of water through the pour spout. I find it to be too wide a stream of water and prone to splashing and making a mess. I also don't care for how half of the lid needs removed in order to fill the reservoir. I'd prefer a flip open lid with a hinge. Otherwise though, I think it's a good pitcher filter, and I haven't any regrets about switching to Clearly Filtered after Pur dropped lead removal from their filters. Thanks, Brian, good stuff here.

      Since our testing projects aim to put systems through real-life testing, we unfortunately don't have control over the contaminants present in the unfiltered sample at the time of testing. I had hope for the same, especially since the source used for this project had lead detected previously.

    Now that its a more well established brand, what are your thoughts that they still haven't obtained a NSF certification (still third party)? Smaller off market brands seem to pay for it so would love your thoughts. Does your test review all their contaminants claimed or only the ones you discussed. Thanks so much!

    • @waterfilterguru
      @waterfilterguru  9 місяців тому +2

      The Clearly Filtered pitcher does hold a few certifications now, actually. Its certified by the WQA to:
      NSF/ANSI 42 (chlorine, taste and odor) find.wqa.org/find-products/ctl/detail/mid/1054/cid/clearly_filtered_inc/sid/1
      NSF/ANSI 53 (for PFOA & PFOS) find.wqa.org/find-products/ctl/detail/mid/1054/cid/clearly_filtered_inc/sid/3?
      NSF/ANSI 372 (materials safety) find.wqa.org/find-products/ctl/detail/mid/1054/cid/clearly_filtered_inc/sid/29
      That said, I'd love to see them obtain more performance certifications for additional contaminants they claim to reduce.
      Our testing is conducted in real-world conditions, so there is no way every single contaminant a company claims to reduce will be present in our water we use for testing. We do not intentionally add contaminants for the sake of testing, but rather test products as a regular user would use them at home.
      I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.

      I'm not a medical professional, so I'd suggest consulting your doctor with the cobalt question. As is explained in the video, most of us are exposed to cobalt through the foods we eat every day, so I'd imaging this would be situation dependent. My assumption is that the cobalt is being imparted by the filter media, as I can't imaging the plastic components containing cobalt. This is just a hypothesis and I can't say for certain without more data

      Neither the Clearly Filtered or Berkey water bottles should be used with untreated surface water, like water from a stream or lake you would filter while hiking. For that I'd recommend Grayl Geopress geni.us/puX777A or the Ultrapress geni.us/0FTg there are also new titanium versions of both those bottles.
      For daily use filtering TREATED city water, the Clearly Filtered bottle would be best geni.us/eo1oEIs

    Thanks for these videos. In many ways this seems like the best pitcher. I'm a little concerned about the added levels of cobalt, though. Amongst some of the other contaminants that Modern Castle found in their test. I'm just curious if you've seen their results and had any thoughts about why it performed worse? Also given your background, what are your thoughts on why cobalt and others are being added? Is it coming from the filter itself, or does it have anything to do with ratios changing within the amount of water. More cobalt per ml based on the fact that it's not filtering any cobalt out? I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on this.Thanks!

    • @waterfilterguru
      @waterfilterguru  5 місяців тому

      My hypothesis is that the cobalt is coming from the filter media itself. But with limited, real-life testing, it's hard to say for sure. We'd need multiple rounds of experiments to validate this. There was no cobalt detected in the unfiltered raw water, which is why I hypothesize it came from the filter

The plastic is thin and bends easily and the lid doesn't fit well and has sharp edges. The plastic release door was broken and finally the priming bag disc doesn't fit snuggly on the filter so when I squeeze the bag to prime the filter, it separates and water shoots out the side.
