  • This one simple X on the ground can be used for so many mountain bike skills and drills! Highly recommended to get some tape (or chalk) on the ground, then play with it and see what you can do. In this video, I give a few suggestions, but you can freestyle all you want - make it fun!

    Hey Aaron
Just over a thousand people are following it in the first wave. Mark my words, this series will become a template on how to learn bike skills and more importantly how to teach.
I am struggling with the wrong foot forward drills but I can feel the progress I am making.
Well done Aaron - and thanks
    Practice makes progress!

Thanks so much, that means a lot! I hope you're right. I think these fundamental skills will help ANY rider on any bike, and they're not commonly taught (or practiced), so hopefully people stumble across these skills and incorporate them. Thanks so much for being a part of this challenge!

      I agree - SuperTeacher!
I started out serious this summer thinking “I’ll just be ambidextrous.” Didn’t happen. That’s why oppo moves score more in the feeestyle stuff - even the pros struggle.

These have been great. I've definitely learned where my strengths and weaknesses are. Especially the weaknesses, haha!
I've also learned that because my rear shock doesn't have a lock out, but the fork does, it makes rear wheel control... interesting. For example, doing an English hop with just the front locked out is very weird and feels unbalanced no matter what. It's a cinch on my gravel bike though.

Awesome! So glad to hear it's been helpful. Yeah, those rear shocks can definitely throw a wrench into the mix when they don't cooperate as well as the front shock - definitely have dealt with that on multiple bikes.

Looking forward to trying this again after hopefully some progress from the prior challenges. For the upcoming pallet challenges, could we use concrete obstacles of various heights instead?

Yes, absolutely! That should work well, actually!

👍looking forward to the pallet drills.
Hopping on my rigid fork trials bike makes my wrist and hands a little achy. What are peoples tips to avoid that. I tried loosening my grip but that’s a recipe for a stem in my chest. I do use the deity def grips and they help with keeping gripped.

Pallet drills coming up next! I think part of it will be just adjusting to the rigid fork over time, your body will become more efficient at absorbing the shock. Try to focus in on using your knees/elbows to really bend and spring with the movements, I find that helps me the most.
