HOW EXPENSIVE is a TRIP to LAS VEGAS?

  • Revealing what I actually spent visiting Las Vegas for 3 nights with my family including, what I spent on hotels, how much I ate, what I bought, and how much I gambled. Nothing is hidden or off-limits. What I didn't do was any clubbing, or drinking... and definitely no bottle service in here! If you're planning a trip to Las Vegas you could use this as a basis for developing your own Las Vegas budget. But remember, prices do fluctuate and I visited in November which is typically one of the cheapest months to visit Las Vegas.

My tip: If you want to enjoy Vegas on a budget, remember to travel with people who are like-minded and aren't picky about restaurants. Food courts and quick service restaurants can save you a lot compared to nice sit-down places. Also, stop at a CVS and load up on drinks and snacks for the hotel room and pool. Have granola or protein bars on hand so you can skip an overpriced breakfast. This could save you hundreds.

Went to Walmart and bought food for breakfasts, snacks and to make sandwiches so we didn’t have to eat out all thr time. Got $20 3-day transit passes that includes the Deuce bus and used that to spend 3 days around the strip, usually ending up at Fremont Street for free concerts (except to see Aerosmith which was a priority). Rented a car 2 days for Red Rock Canyon/Hoover Dam/Cactus Gardens and to go for great meals in non-strip priced restos. It looked shabby to me and we found the food to be way overpriced. I didn’t find the slot machines to pay very well. Last time I was there was already crazy over priced, that was February 2020. After that trip I decided it was my last. I like to sit at the bar and have a bottle of beer and people watch when not gambling. When they charged $8 for a bottle of domestic, I said enough of the gouging. Yes, I could gamble at the bar and drink free, but to do that it was a minimum $20 stake and minimum $1 bets. At that rate it would have cost me $50 for a beer.

That’s why You stay at the Cheap Motels outside the strip and buy a bus ticket or find a motel that has a shuttle bus that drives to the strip and once there You walk to each hotel. It’s messy up that the Hotels on the strip now force people who visit the hotel and only park there to pay a fee. Because it use to be free parking at all the Hotels about 10 years ago.

It depends where you stay, eat, and play. I do all I can to search for promotions and cheap deals. If you can try and go to Vegas Sunday through checking out Friday, those are the cheapest times to go. Trust me, it’s never dead in Vegas, but it’s less traffic than on weekends. I think for 1 or 2 people, staying at the Motel 6 on Dean Martin Drive or Tropicana is a great deal, because you’re hardly going to spend time in your room but to sleep and shower so why spend tons on lodging. That and Motel 6 doesn’t charge Resort Fees!

I am not sure there are many places you can go on vacation anymore and spend less than $100 a night for a hotel. As far as food goes, I watched a lot of Vegas UA-camrs for places to visit so I was aware of the prices. You might be able to find comparable food outside of Vegas for less, but Vegas is a foodie paradise. I still call it a win if you can go for a 3-4 nights with a total bill of under $1500 for airfare, hotel, food. entertainment.

I asked a staff member what I was getting for the 50% increase in Resort Fee and he told me I was getting 50% more ripped off. I knew it would be more expensive and I accepted that. What I really struggled with is the incredibly poor customer service. Every front line staff member we encountered, except one, were absolutely fantastic, in spite of every place being short staffed. I know these people work really hard, but it is not easy to justify a large tip when the service was pathetically slow due to lack of adequate staff and the prices were, at times, significantly higher than in the past. And, thank you very much, I brought home Covid.

Even though my hotel comped me parking, I still had to pay resort fees, resort fee taxes, Clark county fees and taxes, I even went bar hopping outside in the downtown area, and outside in the actual communities, still EXPENSIVE. Also, gas is the same as LA, CA, in fact, gas at the moment is even cheaper here in LA than Vegas, imagine that! Overall, it was fun, but not worth it! $60+ for a souvenir drink at the Daiquiri place at Paris! Come on. On top of all that, it stinks like weed and piss all over the place. We visited vegas from the UK on a package deal through virgin in August. We stayed at the venetian and we had a good time overall. To be honest I expected it to be expensive but I was genuinely shocked at some prices of things. Silly things like 2 coffees in the morning from the kiosk on the side of the casino floor was $14. I know you'd find it cheaper elsewhere but 1st thing in the morning I didn't fancy hiking miles just to find a cheaper place. Another time we ordered 3 G n Ts and a budweiser from the bar and it was $79 plus tip. I was so stunned I just paid it. If I was ever to go back I'd definitely do a little research and avoid the rip offs where possible but I doubt I would return. The constant smell of weed everywhere gets a bit much if its not your thing. The homeless issue is out of control imo. We saw a fight on the strip between 2 homeless men that turned into about 6 on 1, blood everywhere and not a police officer in sight . We saw a homeless guy smoking crack/meth in the middle of the day outside casino royal. At times it reminded me of the TV show the walking dead. It was a bit of a shame really. I totally agree! The Venetian is such a good hotel and what I really loved when I stayed there was the fact that parking is free and you could literally walk anywhere

Covid shut everything down and only a dozen buffets reopened afterwards. This was the first sign that the casinos were not going to offer loss leaders to attract gamblers. Southpoint is the only buffet that is playing to that tune. I am somewhat confused you didn’t take your family to Chinatown since you have a car. $197 would go very far and you would probably get better food and service. Resorts World food court is very expensive and you could do better elsewhere. Give Chinatown a try next time and your wallet will thank you

We live in Southern California... so I'd argue most of the Asian food here in Orange County / Los Angeles is better than that of Vegas Chinatown.... so we ate what we can't get in LA/OC. No really good spots in LA/OC for Singaporean/Malaysian. And Mott 32 doesn't have an LA/OC location.

You saved a lot by not having to pay resort fees. I don't mind spending a premium if I'm eating or drinking things I can't get at home. I definitely bring my own coffee, French press and hot water boiler with me to save on coffee. I can't justify spending $6 on a single cup of coffee, ever.

@@YellowProductions I'll get a drip or iced coffee at the Eataly bakery once per trip, but making my own coffee is the best. I like being able to leave the room and just start doing what I want instead of waiting in a long line.
