Victoria Police: Police Custody Officer

Victoria Police, Police Custody Officers (PCOs) tell us why they changed careers to become PCOs and what the role entails.
Supervising PCO Phil “I worked in the corporate world for about 30 years, but have wanted a change in carer. I wanted to do something interesting, something challenging to get out of the everyday comfort zone”.
PCOs core duties are the management and welfare of people brough into police custody and helping them get through a difficult time in their lives. The role is interesting, rewarding and no two days are the same.
PCOs work closely with Police Officers and employees within the police stations “Within the station we are all one team, regardless of what uniform we wear”.
