oh, and at 20:46, just aft of the winglet is a HUGE skyscraper. it's 432 Park Avenue 2nd tallest behind 1 WTC (although 432's roof is taller than 1 WTC's top floor)
It's nicknamed a "pencil tower" and it's hideous. However the model 757 is nicknamed the "flying pencil" and is maybe the greatest-looking jet model in the sky.
Love this and if you're born in the early to mid 1990s these B757,767 l-1011 DC-10 & A300-600 are common sight on the airport before the A320 family were common
I spent 7 yrs. flying the 75/76 for Delta and it was a blast! Back then Delta still had the 767-232, which the pilots called the "dumptruck". It flew like one. It's short body reduced stability and the sloppy cable controlled fuel control units were lousy. The 767-332 were better ( like all long jets mind the tailstrike risk) with the longer body. Best of the 76's was the 332ER which featured higher weights due to the GE engines with more than 62K lbs. of thrust (Vs. 50k) and FADEC (fully automatic digital engine control) engine controls. The 757 however was more humble but the best to fly. Weight/thrust, control harmony, versatility were unmatched. I remember my worst landing in the 75- MSY, and my best- all the rest. It was easy to roll it on but getting the nosegear down smoothly was a bitch (try doing a wheeley in a shopping cart and you'll know what I mean).
yup thats what they called them my dad flew the 757 and 767 for the last like 7yrs of flying time with delta based out of lax. he still says it was his favorite planes to fly
Awesome video! Great views of the Cross Bronx Expressway, then the George Washington Bridge, NYC, Hudson River, and the Jersey side! This is almost exactly the same route 'Sully' took when tragedy struck!
Yol theres a vid on youtube showing an airbus pilot flying a 737 the first thing he aked after takeoff was 'where is climb thrust' it makes those a320 only climb 1500 ft/min 2000ft over the ground it sucks...
+Joshua Zweighaft tacos are good and nice channel ! Aviation is my passion! I hope to go to flight school one day and become a commercial pilot! I just graduated from college, so hopefully I'll save up and go!
Northerncalwolf I was looking at that and figured that they started the engines with a tail wind. Must have been very small otherwise I figured they wouldn't have started the engines yet.
I graduated from a school where my math teacher's husband's cousin (her name is Mary) is an air traffic controller at LGA and her (Mary's) husband is an ATC at JFK!
During safety annoucements when pushback il love the "Disney World" music in the background. Be ready for takeoff to Neverland ! Pure American style :-) . Cheers from France !
Great Video! Anyone that is a fan of plane spotting and is local to LGA (LaGuardia) at 20:25 of the video, the winglet passes the best Spotting location at LGA. It's Ditmars Blvd which is right near the runway threshold of RWY 4. Easy access from the Grand Central Parkway. Its behind Vaughn College (The control tower looking structure at 20:25) happy spotting!!!!
I knew that had to have been a Saturday by how little activity there was at the gates and taxiways during the taxi to the runway. All those hangars in the beginning of the video are gone now.
People not from New England have no idea how big NYC is, you did a good job with the cam to show the scope. The 757 is the best intermediate airliner to fly on, i think... Some would argue for the A320. I won't fly on a Airbus...alot of preventable big accidents because of stupid shit!!!
Ditto. You are probably referring to Air France 447, etc. I'd rather have good pilots than being at the mercy of computer programmers. Different philosophies, with Boeing the pilot has the most authority, with Airbus it's the computer. I think it's easier for Airbus pilots to become complacent and overwhelmed when a true emergency arises.
@@jayo_z Right, the PWs are much better. The RB 211 always had problems from the beginning (1970s). Having an additional middle compressor and middle turbine and the consequent tube inside a tube inside a tube type of shaft resulted in more frequent replacement of bearings. Remember the engine issues with the L1011? And new RR Trents are based on the same design?
Pretty sure I would have started freaking out if I saw the engine smoking like that before take off. 2:39 How did they know that was ok & not an engine problem?
Flight Pan am 2837 in flight to h&l Honolulu this will be a round trip direct flight this is Captain Carl Rogers in route to Honolulu from from LaGuardia airport
Great video! Loving it! Do they allow you to take shots while taking off? I remember the flight attendant always telling me to put it away but after they buckle up, I start taking video shots.
Roger Williams The first 757's were delivered in 1982 and the last 2 were delivered in 2005 for a total of 1,049. Over 800 are still in service with Delta here being the largest operator of 757's with just over 150 planes. American retired part of their fleet. The one's with this engine here, Pratt and Whitney, but kept their planes with Rolls Royce engines. Delta took 14 of the American planes as their fleet is Pratt and Whitney power. I'm hearing rumors that Boeing may return to building the 757 but with new model engines from Pratt and Whitney or CMF which would be their Leap engine. These new engines have not entered service yet but will burn less fuel, have a smaller carbon footprint and not make as much noise. The new Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan engine and the CFM leap are the two options on the new A320 family coming from Airbus and the CFM leap will be the only option on the new version of the Boeing 737.
+Benjamin Kohl It wasn't late, it's based on weight, temperature, elevation, runway length, obstacles, flap setting and a few other variables. The best takeoff plan is selected for each departure.
+Gerard Moran I'm sorry I did not mean "late" as in it was supposed to be off the ground earlier, but rather it used up a whole lot of runway with its weight and thrust/flap setting, etc.
+Benjamin Kohl Some of the scariest takeoffs I've done were the LGA-PBI on warm days with a full boatload on the 727-232. Liftoff and V2 occurred with 1000' remaining. Sometimes we had to use flaps 25 (with AC packs off) vs. 15. You got off sooner but you would be worse off if you lost an engine during 2nd segment climb. Takeoff planning is a balancing game.
Nothing like the sound of a Rolls-Royce engine spooling up just before takeoff love it thanks for posting
This is a PW engine though.
I love how at 2:48 he says, "Smoking is not allowed on any Delta flight" while the engine bellows smoke at start up.
"I SEE THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING!!!" -excited, well-informed little girl 21:46
I heard it! YAY
I love at 02:50 they announce smoking is not allowed just as the engine billows out a large cloud of smoke during startup.
+rdinnan82 Cold soaked engine, cold weather start. Welcome to aviation. Cheers
20:35, this takeoff brings back SOO many memories, I cry everytime I hear those PWs. Delta 757s are AMAZING.
Wait there not RB-211’s?
@@rainbowrailroadcrossing7798 No. Delta's 757s have PW2000s.

Whats your opinion of going up in a powered parachute. The kind that use a chassis with 3 wheels. Are they safe?
I don't know enough about them to advise you. It looks really fun!
yup thats what they called them my dad flew the 757 and 767 for the last like 7yrs of flying time with delta based out of lax. he still says it was his favorite planes to fly
he retired in 2003 so he flew the old 757 and 767s
hey message me back my dad might of flown with u
Such a beautiful plane and surprisingly quiet!
Wow those engines sound great!
And this is why I like these engines so much.
Nothing like the sound of a vibrating buzzsaw
The RB-211’s
62 Hz

Hahahahaha the irony when the welcome video host goes "There is no smoking allowed during flights . . . ." but the planes engines start to smoke LOL
Jeremy Bruner probably due for new igniters in that engine
exactly they out there huffin and puffin LOL.
Jeremy Bruner bird strike!!
JT8 cold start
@Jeremy Bruner. Ground crew having a vape!!
Those Delta 757's with the P&W engines are so overpowered. LOVE IT!
What a rocket! Notice how the two pings indicating 10000 feet happen just 3 minutes after liftoff.
absolutely nothing wrong with overpowered (;
it's a Boeing thang lol

Smokes like my 10 year old Mazda 5 diesel on startup. Loving the clag!!
757 ROAR - THE BEST!
22:00 - Checkpoint 'Sully'!
---"Smoking is not allowed on any Delta flight" - as smokes pouring out of the engine. that was perfect!. =)
lmfao
Caught that too .. .Lol !!

Its sad that 757's hardly fly to LGA at all anymore 😔
I love the B757!!!
Almost the best airplane ever, after the 747 :-)
Great video. ☺️
Thanks for the amazing video-great shots and by far one of my favorite airplane videos. Job well done.
The irony @ 2:46 is amazing XD
I envy airline pilots. I know it can be challenging but the takeoff and landing seem so cool.

Engine buzz 👍👍
great parting shot of the Airfield at the end
Awesome flight log! Thise engines sound lovely!
Very nice...
New York!
New York City.... awesome.... incredible view... thank you.... :)
21:20....The God forsaken Hell-Hole Riker’s Island.😮
That safety video sounded pretty entertaining lol
thats what engines should sound like on take -off what a great bird.
Brilliant
Yeah PW2000 tends to smoke a lot more than other engines, cold start or not.
is it coincidence the safety video says no smoking on this flight and then the engines let smoke out?

Long video and the smoke was too funny on the engine
Total perfect timing
I guess when you sit on the side you get a whole lot more bass from the engine. Wow! Must've been almost overwhelming.
Take off 20:30
That's the longest push back I've ever seen.
danpend thats the longest taxi ive ever seen :)

Sounds like a NYC taxi 😅
off all he planes my father piloted he loved theboeing757thebest
what else did he fly? (:
+Yol I'm with your Dad. Flew the 75 & 76 for Delta for about 7 years. Great jets and lots of fun.
was there an 023 variant of this equipment built?
No sir. There was a -223 which was for American Airlines.
Amazing.
I flew on this same flight!!!
It's Kevvyy oh wow that's cool
I farted in your seat.
smooth roar

''i see the empire state building'' haha

Awesome job! What seat were you?
Thank you! I believe 21A, bulkhead on the left side.
Smoking is not allowed on this flight! Lol, holy jeez, try telling that RB211 not to. Right on cue😅
Stunning video. Nice job. Love airplanes.

Excellent shots :)
i flew on a Delta 757-223 in row 18A and judging by the looks of this window view, were you in the same row?
Jeremy Greenlee I don't think this plane had a row 18 on the left side... I was in 21A and it was a bulkhead
great vid
at 2:52 they said smoking not allowed...what is that plane doing 😂? smh. they need to see and fix that problem
+1990s were amazing!
Nothing to fix there. I forgot the explanation I read about that once, but nothing is broken.
It happens during most if not all cold starts as a result of the oil.
The smoke usually means that engine is a really good one or a brand new one
What seat were you in?
Back in the old 757/75U configuration, this was 21A. There was a bulkhead in front of us, which had a galley, and then the 2L door.
3700 rpm

Big thumbs down for all the taxi time recorded instead of takeoff and flight.
i see the empire state building too! hah!
Geeze look at the awful pavement
