Gods will is what is. If we are against what is what hope of freedom can we have?

The worldly think freedom is obtained by the will as in willfulness. In other words, if your will is not impeded and you willfully get what you want when you want how you want, then you have freedom to do whatever you want. This is Nietzsche will to power. The reality is that in this world many if not most things we want can't be gotten because they are more powerful than us and are not within our domain. All things are in God's domain though. He put a small portion of His domain within our domain. What He has given us to be in our domain is our will, faith, and effort. We can choose good will vs ill will. We can choose to act in good faith vs bad faith. We can put good effort into what we do vs poor effort. Even then with good will, good faith, and good effort, we might not succeed in what we do since not everything we will is in our control. So, we aren't free to do anything we want even when we have good will, act in good faith, and put good effort into what we want. We don't find freedom in the external world because we don't have absolute power and our flesh is subject to the cause and effects occuring in the world.
There is internal freedom in the soul however. But this internal freedom isn't gotten by will power or willfulness. It is gotten by willingness. This internal freedom is the state of well-being in the soul at sabbath rest and shalom peace. It is eudaimonia. It is unperturbed by appetites, desires, aversions, and other emotions. It is undisturbed by thoughts and images in our imaginations which try to satisfy the appetites, desires, and emotions. When the soul becomes willful to satisfy these, then they turn into passions which drive and torment the soul. As long as the soul is willful to get what it desires and is willful to avoid what it is averse to, it is not at rest or at peace in a state of contentment or well-being. Paul mentioned that he had found the secret to contentment whether he found himself in feast or famine. The soul isn't free until it is free from the desire for the carrot dangling on the stick and from the fear of the cattle prod from behind like beasts of burden are. It is in willingness not willfulness that the soul detaches itself in a healthy way from the carrot and the prod.
Willingness lets go. Willfulness is a tight fist to hold onto what you have or to fight for what you want. Willingness is an open hand that gives and takes gifts, all of which come from God. Willfulness is rich in spiritedness or pride. Willingness is poor in spiritedness, humbleness of heart. Willingness bears and forbears, gives and forgives, goes and foregoes; that is it turns the other cheek, gives both tunic and cloak, and goes the extra mile. The soul meek and humble of heart is internally free from willfulness, from the carrot and cattle prod, from perturbing appetites and desires, and from disturbing thoughts and images in the mind driven to satisfy the flesh which the worldly only has to offer. Like Paul, the humble soul finds the secret to contentment. The humble soul finds sabbath rest and shalom peace in its emptied heart. The heart emptied of rich and prideful spirits has room the the Holy Spirit to tabernacle. Theosis cannot occur without meekness and humbleness and willingness of heart. Then true 'eudaimonia' occurs because the Holy Spirit is the Good Spirit.
