Thanks Alan for recording every aspects of rural gurung life in your camera while doing your research . I read a part of your research paper few days back along with few of other anthropologist of Nepal and today just out of accident I got to see your recordings too....being a gurung myself and settled outside Nepal your videos and wrk are a source of information to me. Love the way how nicely you have mixed up with the local ppl of that area .More such studies needs to be done to know about the ancient socio economic and cultural system of mountain society....Thank you once again.

Thanks for this nice comment. I will one day change this - but it takes a lot of editing to do so, so please forgive not doing so straight away. Actually, it was on th private side of youtube for some months - so only went up two days ago, so others may now find it. Best wishes, Alan

Thanks. Since you are obviously a Gurung fan I shall tell you. It is Thak - on the road up to Sikles. You probably passed below or through it... Alan

Example of a sustaining culture and material world without killing it! Developed , wealthy societies, and their destructed economies, need to learn from such places.

He made a good point how the west culture has forgotten how to live like this and they should because most of history was like this. The west wouldn't survive without internet.

If the villagers here are cultivating rice below and grains above, I wonder how their society has adapted different social and labour requirements for each over the 30 years of fieldwork, in line with the larger divergence mentioned between East and West. Or are their combined agricultural practices somehow not representative of conditions 1000 years ago because of that combination?
