I used to be active in the LaDs community, but the hate has gotten so out of hand that I’ve greatly limited my use of social media because of it. Especially as a Caleb girlie, it doesn’t feel like a safe space anymore. I used to post Caleb saving guides and Caleb theories on the subreddit months ago, which caused me to be targeted. I don’t post anything anymore.

I consider myself as a person who is detached from the community/fandom, but I love the game,it's lore and characters. But this is so genuinely valid. People have preferences yes,but fighting amongst eachother over an opinion, said character or something else is not the way to go. Kudos for this.

unfortunately, it's a given. as soon as a community gets bigger, more toxicity will follow as well. that said, the LaDS community as a whole has never really been "chill". in CN there have always been fights between fans of different loves interests, even before sylus. even in the global community there were would be certain fans who would make hate posts about a specific LI they didn't like on the official reddit, etc. however since the global community was so much smaller before, the toxicity was less frequent and less noticeable.
i think the issue with LaDS lately is that people are starting to get very aggressive with their opinions, especially on platforms such as X and tiktok. we should all be able to express our opinions freely, wether positive or negative. however, there's also a way in which you can express your opinion without turning into it toxicity, especially if you're sharing that opinion publically to a wide variety of LaDS players. the point of having an otome game with different love interests who fit different tropes is to attract multiple different audiences so it's normal that not all of us are going to love the same LIs; depending on our background, experiences, and tastes, we'll feel more inclined to love certain LIs while not really vibing with others. that is completely normal, you don't have to like every single one of them. however you disliking a specific LI doesn't give you the right to harass their fans for liking him. let's please learn to be respectful of each other's preferences. we're all playing the same game, we just have different perspectives and tastes :)

19:00 this!! I've seen people on X saying they wish the game would only have Sylus in it or that 4 LIs are already too much😂 They somehow don't understand that other girlies like other characters. Especially when Caleb girlies are so excited about him coming back while 70% of EN X hate him being added
The fandom would be much more wholesome if they didn't constantly hate on each other that way

The only toxic thing I encounter in the fandom is teenage girls attacking others for their favourite. It’s always like “Why do you like this and not that” “you’re here for fun and not the story” “u s3xualise the LI” Which is funny given that the dev themselves makes the spicy cards and not us.
It’s fun to be delulu but not enough to harass others for a fictional man

    • @ugh5281
      @ugh5281 19 днів тому +6

yeah i feel like LaDS might be some people's first otome (nothing wrong with that, just something i've noticed) because usually there's an understanding that different love interests are made to appeal to different audiences. i feel like some people think that you are supposed to like all the LIs equally even if you have mains but that's not the case at all. you usually pick your favorites and you let others pick theirs, that's it. of course, if you like all of them equally, good for you but you don't have to. however, not liking a certain LI doesn't give you the right to question why others like their favorties or harass people for their favorites.

As someone who play the game when it was first released, I really do miss the early day with LADS tbh. It was actually my first time playing an Otome, and it helps me got through things that I felt so insecure about, and even from a previous game that I had to delete from the apps store because the developer was shutting it down; that led me to this game.
Afterward, I kept seeing a bit of player playing it but some not posting much about it; which kinda upset me, since I really love seeing other player theories about the lore, upcoming banner, reactions of the game, LI they adored so much, and lastly enjoying the game.
I want the community to grow in a positive way where we can all feel safe and talk about our interests about the game. Instead of negative way that cause player to fall out of love for it, which it kind of almost made me lose my love from it a little bit and cause me to not play it anyway or even wanting to post about it; since I did wanted to do it a month ago but seeing other hate on player love or thoughts, I didn’t wanted to perceive doing so afterward.

These days, I just consider myself as someone who likes Love and Deepspace, but isn’t necessarily a member of the fandom. I feel this way because it seems like being friendly with people you disagree with is not allowed. The second you have a differing opinion on something, the fandom will ostracize, bully, or isolate you. Then you realize half of the fandom has you blocked or muted and now you’re talking to a brick wall (speaking from experience). I still enjoy the game, but I’ve felt especially wary of other fans now because I don’t want to become friends with someone just for them to act like they don’t know me when I’m not following the crowd.

English is not my native language so the translator here had to help me a bit to communicate my thoughts better, sorry 😅
I always find it amazing how people can muster up so much energy to hate pixels. Or the people they think have joined “the wrong side”. Having different opinions, experiences and points of view is perfectly ok. It only makes a good exchange at eye level even more interesting! But for that to work, you need respect. Have your opinion and views but don't set out to hurt other people with them. My grandma used to say “if you can't beat them,” kill them with kindness! “ cuddle and smile like the others just to reason 😊 ❤

I'm a gamer. The fact that anyone fights over some pixels is. . . Baffling. I dont remember players freaking out over Ghost's eye color in MWII and the remaster. That being said, people need to start being adults about the game, and building thicker skins. This kind of thing is always going to exist no matter where you go with any fandom. You tune out the dumb and find the ones that game to game and have fun, and that's it.

I think the accual problem started from covid. Until covid, there were not as many people online, and people respect each other to some extend or had a conversation normally. Even if there were anger or more heated arguments people know where not to cross the line. However when covid started everyone was lock up and the only excape that imitate comunicatiom was social media. With this many people who never were in a fandom enter a space they could not accually adapt and because of this they start to be toxic. There were also an increse in the number of toxic people (trolls) and people who think they are the center of attention because in real life they were. Miscommunication become a value and drama farming or causing drama become a monetization tool for many people who just lost jobs and saw how much engagements they can get from the new wave of people who enter social media.
Also is true that the bigger the fandom the toxic it's gets but I think the issue is accually the fandom who interact or rather keep active those controversial people and discussions like they are important when, let be honest most were not. And all this because people forgot how to act and instantly go to use rudd down graded words to proof a point when they proof nothing.

i think one factor as to why theres so much discourse around this fandom (at least from what ive seen. im not active on twitter) is bcus most newcomers had love and deepspace as their first otome game and therefore are still new to how things work around this kind of game and community.

I feel like any time something gets popular, you're going to have fandom toxicity. I've been in a number of fandoms, and I see it everywhere. Generally I just try not to engage with anyone itching for a fight. I don't talk to anyone on Twitter about LaDS because that place is off the wall. Especially lately, with the reveal of Caleb as the next LI. I find it interesting that some people seem to think it's some kind of competition and that they're going to get superiority badges for defending their opinions about a video game, or for defending their favorite LI as though he's a real person.
I do understand feeling passionate about something and even perhaps feeling a sense of ownership over something you love like this. Especially as someone who doesn't have a very colorful social life and tends to not be great around real people. But it's important to keep some perspective, too. The game is supposed to be fun, not stressful, and it doesn't just belong to one person. We are all sharing in it, even if our experiences are different. I just want to gush with other fans and have good time, not fight with them.

STORY FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW: I only use Facebook and so a lot of the fans on there are older, and I wasn't active often so I hadn't seen all the recent drama about Caleb, and I made a post, calmly I'll add, about how I was surprised because I thought he was supposed to be a brotherly figure for MC. And out of 100 comments only one gently explained the situation of them being friends, and just a term Asians use for older figures. There were so many comments of people calling me things like over dramatic, a validation seeker, etc even making three whole paragraphs about how they hate people who disrespect other characters. You can tell most people didn't actually read my comment and I was so surprised that was how these people behaved. I ended up deleting the comment and apologizing for starting drama yet there are still screenshots people took and posted of it just to complain more.
(I don't accept people hating on the main boys, and It really upset me that I was compared to them and blamed for giving them a reason to comment on my post about Caleb hate when it wasn't related at all to my comment.

I'm deeply sorry for this player felt this way... Every fandom has its own toxicity and it never stops at all. There are many possible ways to get out of it and one of the best solutions from that is by blocking and ignoring. It takes alot of mental power to do so especially social media for younger generations gets easily to be too addicted in a media drama. Love and Deepspace is basically otome for the girls to have fun, though not for everyone. But at the end of the day, IT'S FICTIONAL. People gets too exaggerated over a character when these characters do not exist in our world. Infold company doesn't control the community in exception offering of their games performed.
Everyone has the right to express what they like/dislike, expressing their opinions in good/ugly, but for the love of god, STOP THE HATE and RESPECT EACH OTHER. That's because a person doesn't like a character, it doesn't mean this person will ruin to others that likes the same character. Everyone needs to be reminded that it is FICTIONAL and take care of their mental health. This generation these days had me staggered that I've seen one 13 year old girl patient at my ED space room, is too young to think and overstress that bothers her.
Take care of your mental health and that is your priority, everyone. Be safe and hopefully 2025 will be better 💜

Let me tell you, If you live long enough, it's like a gem in the mud to find a fine and great positive community. The "COMMUNITY" is full of bunch a children behavior even you old but you act like chidren that brag about everything and complain about everything. We can do it healthy but some of the player act like they already play Otome Game like a hundred time. If you don't know anything, in this era, you can search nearly everything, make your own research and if you like to complain so much, how about making one and see if your side of perspective will be accept by other in positive way.
The game is to combine and to gather all the player in one game, we can share the opinion, share the interest and share the joy while playing the game but you must know, God created us in many different way, if you can't accpet someone perspective and don't share you thought with others but if you want to share something, make sure share with manner, don't let your horny mind too wild. I really mean it "TOO WILD" just keep it to yourself. You might not see a healthy Community but at least, be one. We should be the one being healthy, share and respect.
This is my opinion as the old player in many genre game, there some game that we don't like and like but please for the Community and Fandom, the game created by not you, if you like it, keep playing and be healthy and if you don't like it, just stop playing. Even human that created by God make mistake and you think a game created by human iwll be perfect.

It’s stupid that the fandom are arguing about love interests, this must be their first otome game. I’m also afraid in the future that this will attract the toxics fujoshis to try to make this game have BL (because I have already started to see some ppl do that with this game, and to clarify I’m talking about bl between the love interests or bl by adding a male mc into the game to romance the male love interests) no offense to bl enjoyers but I’m sick of seeing bl everywhere in my fav media, even when I try to ignore it will still show up at my face. Otome is one of my safe havens away from that stuff, bl just ain’t for me. If you like bl, that’s fine and all but respect the genre of the game since Otome’s main purpose is to cater towards male x female romance with a protagonist that’s female.

I’m saying that ppl who love BL shouldn’t come into an OTOME game, expecting there to be bl or demand there to be bl and complain about it when the devs don’t comply. Don’t jump into a genre without knowing anything about it and demand it to be your way. Idgaf if you’re gay, straight, whatever, just stop forcing a genre to change to suit your ideals and just accept how it is. Apologies, but the toxic has always been part of this fandom. Especially with the way that queer fans have been explicitly driven away with all the hate towards queer interpretations of the game. There’s room for EVERYONE and no need to attack people because you don’t approve of their preferences.
As a queer player though, I really resent comments like the anti BL comment on this thread that have caused me to generally retreat to queer safe space for the game instead of being able to participate in the wider community. I shouldn’t have to put up with that AS MUCH as people who complain about this LI or that.

I don’t think they’re are saying that queer ppl can’t play this game but to understand that how much you want there to be bl or how much you want to play as a male mc you have to understand that otome is a genre that caters to heterosexual women or women (bisexual, etc) who have a preference for men. The term otome means “maiden” so the target audience that otome has always prioritized and will always prioritize, are women who want to play a hetero romance game. Ppl play otome because it’s hetero romance or they like that it’s a game with female protag just the same as ppl play bl games cuz it’s homo romance and to change its target audience and genre can upset some ppl especially those who came for the hetero romance and who have spent so much time bonding with the love interests in believing that they were gonna be able to romance them as a woman, because a lot of ppl do self insert when playing these games. They probably don’t like that ppl are trying to force a change like this and I’m sure you would be angry too if the devs/authors of your fav bl game/romance decided to one day change everyone’s sexuality to be hetero no?

    • @mabsdaughter
      @mabsdaughter 19 днів тому +2

@ I know what otome means. I’m a queer person enjoying a piece of media and bringing my whole self. I want to be able to express my joy the same as anyone else. I play it because the romance stories are good not because it’s hetero.
By being rigid and forcing “hetero only here” and bullying queers out of the space y’all are literally creating exactly the environment that encourages people to bully for other reasons like love interest choice.
You can’t say “we’re not the enemy, leave us alone, those are the REAL enemy” and expect that to not turn against you eventually. My queer joy impacts not a single other person one bit. I’m not forcing any kind of change because I am literally just enjoying a piece of media as myself. And if you (general you) find that it does impact you to have queers existing in a space and trying to participate when literally the whole world is hetero dominant, y’all should really look inside yourself and ask why that is. Because the real answer is not good.

It’s the ppl who know nothing about the genre and want to change it to fit a diff target audience for example going into an R rated movie and complaining that it’s too scary and that the director should’ve made it more child friendly, that’s literally what the person you are referring to is talking about. This video is getting a little rambling and it’s not directed at me so I’m gonna head out. 17:48 the butthole thing while I get the comparison like, I’m already being respectful with my opinions so the lecture isn’t for me. Hopefully the ones that need to hear it do. If one more Caleb or Raf girlie try to force them down my throat I’m going to scream. I left a lot of LaDS areas on social media because they tell me I can’t like Zayne. That he’s boring. As one of the people having nasty comments thrown toward me just because I don’t conform, I sincerely hope those that are acting this way watch the whole video and listen.

yeah the fandom is toxic as hell esp too lgbt people that play the game. I kinda don't interact in a fandom that hates me

Same, this was one of the things that kept me from wanting to play the game and has kept me from interacting with the fandom even tho I want to make fanart. Because I have seen other lgbt people get driven away out of fear of the loud homophobia or people pretending like we don’t exist in this fandom

@@cakecannibal160 yeah even some comments on this video are so weirdly bigoted and this whole rhetoric that 'we don't want u here' is prevalent in this community...

@@uranus2065 Absolutely, I’ve seen so many comments on videos including this one that are basically “You can play the game but we don’t want to see or include you in anyway” and then try to make it about bl, like this isn’t about that.

@@cakecannibal160 we should ignore those people! they won't change. Make that fanart! engage with other queer fans! I won't let them chase me out haha I've been a day one player and I love the boys!!

@ I have made one fanart so far but finding the other queer players is hard when it’s drowned out and they say you can’t post gay in the main tags anywhere, I know there’s others just have to find them. But yeah I’m not going to let them chase me out either, Sylus was the one who finally got me to start playing and I’m not giving him up.

I love the game and enjoy the UA-cam LND original channel and those like your channel thats positive. I stay off FB, X, Instagram and never used Instagram nor Ticktock because I knew how toxic and manipulative the platforms were and their power tripping with pushed ads, pushed political and other stuff and it pins people against one another with unnecessary drama many dont realize its happening before its to late. So yeah I love Otome and follow just a few YTube content creators who aren't toxic and also the original LND's Channel and enjoy this game so very much. However with my medical conditions I don't need the stress, anxiety and toxic negative issues that come with many platforms like X, Instagram, Ticktock and FB. So though the game offers gems to share on platforms I won't as I want a stress free life and staying away from such toxic platforms has been best for those who don't want that unnecessary stress be crazy people who are like as you said. So yeah I go to their LND offical sites, but I don't look at and never waste time with scrolling through fan stuff because I know how it gets. And so avoiding that on platforms has been best, just to have fun and enjoy the game. And yes I agree you can't compare LND to other Male audiences gearded gatcha games as this Otome Gactha was specifically designed for female audiences, however there are things like how they run banners, the shop and pulls that can be compared to other gatchas I believe, and I believe to ech their own in views and interpretation. Our society has become entitled-my way or highway, with me or against me type where people foregr what brings us together and how each of us have unique views and perspectives on stuff from like to Otome games and Gatcha games. And we need to stop letting ourselves be divide over entitled-ego emotions and entitled-tripping think we know everything type attitudes as its toxic to everyone around us and those who just want to join a safe and positive non-toxic community where we can have opinions and listen without hostility by others in comments and when having suggestions or thoughts on anything. Our society has shutdown being open minded and to question oneself, our thoughts, opinions and challenge ourselves and look at things in a diffrent presentation, being open to opinions and debate without toxicity and causing grief between us and others..... its unfortunate but thats something I see has become the opposite and the norm is toxic and arguments over debate and respect of everyones opinions in society today as much as its becoming am issue in Anime, Gaming and everything else.
