I really like these little terrariums/aquariums with the resin and clay. You should see if you can find a bigger mold similar to the square you use to make bigger versions and try bigger animals, like a Komodo dragon, alligator or even a shark or moray eel. I think that would be really cool. Great job on this one Jackie!
My sister has a veiled chameleon, she didn't give her enough holding time so she is hissy and touchy but once she fell asleep on my shoulder it was so cool!
just a friendly tip that I learned. In between the small layers when they are still wet blast the a for a few seconds at a time with a heat gun that will really kick those micro bubbles in the butt x3
+NerdECrafter I love mine and honestly they are pretty inexpensive I paid under 20$ every craft store I've ever seen has them and some are called heat guns while others are called embossing heat tools
+Joanna Kime I'm not a fan of lighters for resin. yes while heat guns can get very hot lighters have a direct flame you don't have as much control and risk catching thing in fire a lot more. not only that but direct flame can change color in some things
CutePengy I have no personal experience, I just watch a youtuber that makes a lot of resin products and he always uses a lighter. I just assumed it would be a cheaper and most people probably own a lighter for candles ect therefore making it a helpful suggestion to other crafters as well as Jackie herself :)
Omg you should make tiny turtles in resin in collaboration with chameleon inks as well! also I think it would look even cooler if the chameleon was smaller and maybe had another chameleon friend! but it's still awesome
You know, you should use a heat gun or even a hair dryer set on high to get rid of the bubbles in your resin. Just use it after you pour it in and the bubbles will come to the surface and pop. Alternatively, you can use a vibrating massager, face down on your work surface or propped against the mould as you pour your resin, this forced the bubbles to rise to the top and can easily be popped with a heat gun or hair dryer.
I love everything. :P I would have to say alligator snapping turtle though. When I was about 12 or 13 I caught one. I was hanging out down at the stream that connected the two ponds near my house. I was just sitting on the bank watching the water flow by when I saw this huge snapper walking through the stream. I stood up and ran in the stream to get him out. I hauled him up the bank and held him holding the only safe part - the tail. :p Called a couple of neighbor kids I knew over when I saw them riding their bikes. They thought I was nuts. *laughs* It was only as big as your average car tire. Nothing too crazy right? :D I let him go and he went back into the stream to continue his journey to the other pond. Although I also caught a large cottonmouth snake once when I was around 15 years old but that is another story. :p - Heidi
I had turtles for pets my whole childhood. Then I checked to see if they could live outside in my area and yes they could. They had grown very large. So when I graduated I let them go in the water behind my parents home. Now when I go visit I go out and look for their off spring. Love turtles. You should craft one for us. 😀
THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEK! is are mondays and thursdays! after my day off im bummed to go back to work :) youre videos always cheer me up and help remind me what im working for! so excited :)
oh yeah ours we rescued and hes a grumpy old man we have been working wih him but he still hisses when we try to pet him, hes a turd! when hes awake and in his tank hes brow with a little green when asleep hes beautiful light green, dark green very little brown.
I love your craft ideas you make me want to start my own I just want to suggest that when you pore your resin you should use a straw to blow hot air to pop the bubbles it would look better without the distraction of the bubbles if it was clear
you don't actually need a heat gun, you can use a lighter, or a bbq lighter, or a small torch, or even just blow on it through a straw (although a lighter works better), and that also gets rid of the bubbles. The flame doesn't actually need to touch the resin, it just needs to get close, and you just quickly go over the surface with any of these things.
Oh my gosh -- he's amazing! I love how it turned out. It's like a snap shot coming to life. Very, VERY neat :) Can't wait to see what you come up with next :)
I plan on making a chameleon now although I want to make it a cage instead of using resin. I hope mine turns out as cute as yours :) I'd love to see more reptiles!
Love chameleons!! I have two of them my self! And as for fav reps.. Well.. Its the ones I own.. LOL I have 3 Burmese pythons, the two chameleons, a white throat monitor, a savannah monitor, albino red tail boa, a macklotts python and a green anaconda. love your work cant wait to see what you do next!!
I love this! Looks so awesome! I actually have a panther chameleon (along with 3 bearded dragons - 2 of which are rare, or “ultra fancy”, and a pastel ball python). I love all my babies ☺️
This is really cool! The chameleon looks amazing! my sister really likes lizards so I might have to make her something like this. I myself really like snakes. :D
Hey there! Lovely new project you have done here. :) I tried to make one of those fish tanks and colored my fish with alcohol markers. But after using the resin, I saw that the inks where heavily bleeding into the resign. Do you know what went wrong?
I'm thinking of buying some polymer clay, so what brand would people recommend. I know about fimo and, of course, sculpey. I just want to hear people's honest opinion and experience with different brands.
I loved this! Say Jackie, now that Valentine's is done, would you please please please come up with a project for us that might impart a wee bit of the luck of the Irish. (I know it's really early to ask for that type o' thing but in case you might entertain the idea, it's good to have plenty o' time) Be it a leprechaun in a bottle or a four leaf clover, or a particular ninja turtle to wear to ward off pinches, maybe give it a thought? 😶 And thanks fer the sparkles. 😄
pro tip- read into thinking chameleon markers are cool. their main gimmick that makes them overpriced is that you can blend the inks on the marker nib with special blending bits. you can do that with any other alcohol marker. not to mention the brush nib (falls apart after a couple blends) and ink quality (insanely streaky) aren't the greatest- the extra cost is just the blending chamber, which is basically just alcohol ink in a tube. I know nobody is going to read this.... but just don't buy them.
Oooh a chameleon made with chameleon ink......😱

+NerdECrafter I love mine and honestly they are pretty inexpensive I paid under 20$ every craft store I've ever seen has them and some are called heat guns while others are called embossing heat tools
