When I was much younger, I actually replace the belt on my first cassette player. Years later, I finally have my own Walkman. Thank you very much for being the only video instruction I could find for this specific model
Excellent video. I will definitely save this one in case I need to replace the belt on a Sports Walkman once I get one. Just gotta find where to get a replacement belt now and I'm all set.
@@ThriftyAV That'll be helpful, then. I wonder if the belts in the Sports Walkmans are still somewhat okay to use till I can find a replacement belt. I assume not, but maybe they are.
Jrodsly thank you!! I’m glad your getting back into cassettes!! I hope to have more videos out soon, Like to show you how to demagnetize the head and calibrate the speed. But If you didn’t want to go through the hassle of repairing one, I do sell fully refurbished ones on eBay from time to time.
Jrodsly I also wanted to add, when you get your Walkman. Check out this website tapeheadcity.com They have a lot of new releases on cassette. Plus they have a huge catalog of vintage tapes for 70s 80s 90s 00s.
@@KeoniMarques That is perfect. I'm definitely bookmarking that. If you ever do sell any more refurbished Walkmans, I'd definitely be interested in buying one. Seems like I'll be collecting these now, so the more the merrier!
My problem was insane. When I opened my Walkman there was a piece of the end of a pencil that got stuck on the main motor and that's what caused it not to spin/play the cassette.
Your video made this look so easy, until I did it, and started shouting things that even insulted MYSELF. But it's done. Time to test it out with some Def Leppard!
I just got myself a light grey sony wm f-35. It plays radio good just with an unstable connection, casettes it plays but really slow. I think i might have to change belt, but im terrified to break it considering they run for like 600$
Nice work👍👍 I have a old Garrard dual cassette boombox it still works well but noticed the tape when in play mode has sped up so voices are too high pitch. Any ideas on this? Thanks.
Hi I followed your video for my own Sony Sport Walkman . Everything works perfectly (rewind, Forward, stop, reverse) , except for the "Play" in both ways. The little rubber cylenders turn, but not the black plugs for the cassette wheels. Could you give me tip so it can works too. Thanks in advance. Regards.
I have a same walkman. The pcb is damaged (around 1 inch circuit area) because of battery leakage. Can you send me some HD pictures of pcb from headphone jeck side, then i can fix that.
I was having trouble with the wm-FS191 moving slow so opened it up dont know if the belt was off but now that I put it where I think it goes it's going too fast, any suggestions, did I move a speed regulator or something like that or put the belt wrong
the likely culprit is the speed adjustment potentiometer they can go off with age and can be adjusted using a small flat screwdriver until what you hear sounds normal i recommend pulling a youtube video of the song you want to play up and adjust till it sounds close enough

I had one of these in the 90s ..... great to see someone else still has one.
Thank you so much. The sports Walkman is the easiest to fix imo
Thanks for this. I just bought a nice WM-SXF30 and had to look up how to put in the batteries! Plus, I'm handy with tools.

You can order a variety assortment of cassette belts from China via Ebay. You will just have to figure out which is the best to use.

Would you have a link on ebay of which belt assortment you got it from? Is it the 40-130mm assortment ones you purchased?

Did it work?
@@jeremiahbarth4363 Sadly, it didn't fix the speed issues I was having. There's definitely more wrong with it than just a bad belt.
What belts did you use?

Hello my friend do you know the part number of the belt for this walkman? Thank you

Anyone have an idea of what mine in a box unopened with headphones might be worth?

Not enough light on the interior to be able to see what you are doing.
Is there any way to fix the volume knob? I ordered mine and it was broken off and I thought I could just glue a couple coins on it or something
Hi, any info on WM-FS421? At least the belt routing? Thanks!
Eres un genio, thank u

I’m having lots of trouble getting into my SXF10. Even after undoing the screws it’s not budging

I unscrewed those two screws at the beginning but it still won’t come out
Stick your finger in the battery compartment and pull outwards,
Just don’t pull too hard and try to wiggle it a bit.
Walkman Habitat finally got it out okay. Helping my friend repair it, thank you
