Technically chaz is now selling directly to the consumer so he can go up to 50% profit because usually he sells to stores and he can haggle to get 10% more and stores of course add more value to that...so technically the final consumer is getting the same price anyway so chaz should be able to sell with profit ...

In build mode, alt place the rosettes and photos going up the stairs. That feels like an authentic display place for a farm house. But if you set up a proper farm shop, you should put them in there
I support whatever gameplay you enjoy. But IRL (where I live in the US), the roadside farmer stands out in the country cost a little more because they are specialty and farm to table. That’s why the grocer wants you to bring ingredients, because they want quality from the local farmers. 🤷🏼♂️ Loving this either way!!
it's opposite where I live (rural Alberta Canada) you can get cheaper from the farmer's market and higher quality because they don't need to package and sell to the grocer who marks up prices and takes a cut. I only buy my carrots from the market 🤣 they're too good fresh grown
Where I live in England getting your vegetables from the selling table at the front of a farm is cheaper or the same price as buying from the supermarket. The supermarket has a lot of additional costs because of transport and shop staff and running the physical buildings. Buying cheese from a farmers market would be more expensive that buying cheese from the supermarket, because then it's artisinal cheese that takes more human hours to produce than mass produced cheese. But if you see a sign at the side of the road that says "potatoes £2", you will probably get more potatoes for you £2 there than you would get at a supermarket.
I'm also from the US, but around here, farmer stands and farmers markets usually provide better produce for less money (and less packaging), so I think it depends on where in the US you live :) Also, it depends what produce you're buying, since the US pays huge subsidies to artificially lower supermarket prices, but often that's just for Big Agro/GMO produce, not local/independent organic farmers ETA: That said, for the LP, I think it makes sense to mark up the price on the market table b/c the price Chaz gets from selling to Kim is lower than what she's gonna turn around and charge the customer (at least, in theory), so it makes sense that Chaz should be able to keep the extra profit that would otherwise be going to Kim, plus he's having to take the time to tend the table so he'll probably end up selling fewer items total... but really, it's whatever rules makes James happy (and/or make him hilariously frustrated, which is also fun to watch ;)
same here in Germany. Especially if it’s seasonal produce, I picked up strawberries at a farmers stand by a road when they were in season and they were 5 €, like almost double the amount they were at the supermarket at the time.
EA really needs to let us move stuff in stacks from the household inventory to the sims inventory. Moving stuff one by one is so annoying and time consuming
Absolutely agree with the selling prices, you did it in island living until you got a store, I have been watching you since the Original Lady Bigwallet. I love that you actually have full length videos, even if I called you a Monster yesterday for leaving poor Hennibal all alone.
Also some names of the chickens: Henna (might've been used already) Henen (from Helen) Henwig (from Hedwig) Hendi (from Heidi) Henmione (feel like this has already been used) Henga (from Helga) Also names for the evil chicken: Henakin Henperor Poulpatry (like Palapatine) Kylo Hen
james make sure to make en evil rooster next time you get a midnight treat!!!! you can actually get Hatchable Obsidian Eggs, but you need a roster in the coop for that i think (or just put a regular rooster in with hennibal)
I think its bc he just skims since he’s been playing for so long 😂 he doesnt notice the little things like when he grafted a chocoberry instead of a strawberry
Display the award winning produce in the green house (make it green house bigger). There is the empty wall in the kitchen to the right of the fridge. Perfect for displaying ribbons and photos. Take your selling table to the next fair and sell your produce there. More people around and it's realistic to sell your goods at the country fair.
What if you did the high ticket items on the selling table and just sold the produce directly to Kim? It would make the most sense since produce are so many individual items
I literally just watch now for the genuine excitement of a batuu item placement. Everything else is great and wholesome, but that right there is the king of energy I need in my life.
I appreciate you showing all the glitches, even if they're frustrating for you to deal with. It lets me know that when I see them in my game it's not something I did wrong, and hopefully it lets EA know that they should add the glitch to their to-do list for future patches.
@@paulabroadworth2504 it's not patchy. it does this to me too and I don't have patchy. it actually has to do with the fact that move objects was used with the plants or near the plants.
Every morning I wake up with my kids. Get them all feed and dressed and taken care of. Then I make my coffee and at 9am James post and for 40 minutes I sit here in peace drinking my coffee and watching James. You have officially become part of my morning routine and I love it. It's the 40 minutes a day I get to myself 😂🥰
You should create a cottage “gift shop” at the front of the lot to sell produce, then a little courtyard, and then a first place museum on the other side (complete with a professional photo studio). Make it like an orchard or farm that makes money off tours, produce, etc.!
There's a great mod by LittleMsSam called "coolers are cooling" that makes coolers have their own separate inventory and it keeps items from spoiling in the same way a refrigerator does. I've been using it for years. It has always worked great for me.
The easiest way to get another evil chicken is to just put a couple of normal roosters in the coop with the obsidian hen. She'll produce a hatchable obsidian egg after a few days. In my current save, I have a whole coop filled with obsidian hens and chicks and one normal black rooster.
You can actually grow the oversized crops at their maximum size by interacting with them - encouraging growth, talking to the plant etc. I always get the big ones by this. :D
except for the fact that a lot of people are reporting that even when they harvest the crops right before leaving the lot, they get a bunch they didn't earn in their household inventory anyway.
I’m not even mad that James struggles to make money in his LP I really love how he genuinely tries to make money by being the Sim. Can’t wait for the LPs to combine 😆
Hey I discovered something interesting, if you sell produce to Michael the Creature Keeper, he gives you a fantastic markup. He only takes certain kinds of produce.
It’s a good thing you got the water collector, cause your bills were that much, because water alone was 1800 😳 So this should reduce the bill amount 🤞💪
Ok, so I've had the problem with the household inventory. Its definitely a bug. I would like to say the fix is to harvest all of your plants first thing so it can't make it into your household inventory. Notice I said "would like to say", this is because even though my sim harvested everything somehow produce STILL made it into the frickin' inventory!! OMG, I've been trying to find a work around for this and I just can't. I mean, if there is no produce out there how is it getting in the inventory? I even had him go through and sell EVERYTHING there was no produce on the lot and then I emptied his personal inventory and yet... where did it come from? Now, the selling table. I get what you're saying. I do and I fully agree. However, I will say that you're actually doing it backwards then. Most farmers have a stand because they make more money selling themselves than selling to a middleman. It a well known saying that stores make money, the middleman makes money, and farmers suffer. Its my opinion thats why they made 'farming' so profitable. Not to mention that it takes TIME to sell at the selling table, which is why so many farmers use that middleman. So if basing on real life, you've actually got it backwards. But I get what you're saying.
The Selling Table Thing: But! think of it though, the reason why you can mark up the price to that high is that you can't exactly do anything else why tending to the table. That extra bit of money is essentially the pay you get for the hours it takes from you while you tend the table, in short, it's your hourly wage.
I think you should sell the produce from the household inventory to the catalog, since it‘s obviously your produce that you planted... it‘s your money :)
@@JamesTurnerYT then yes please edit it out because it definitely is frustrating like seeing someone shackling a ball and chains on themselves. There is making a challenge but this really isn’t cheating as it would be harvested and the glitch shouldn’t harm so it seems to frustrate quite a few. Someone also mentioned using MCC to put it in the personal inventory again. But if that’s also not an option then yes pls edit.
I just realized why it’s also so frustrating to watch! Because it feels like the food is wasted, like it gets thrown in the trashed and not used. As someone who was raised by a post-war parent that is truly triggering. lol. sry
@@melz6625 that's so silly, whoever buys the food from the catalogue it was sold to is definitely gonna use it. The sim is just throwin away the money. :D Which is also... not a fun thing to witness, but hey. To make it realistic, if you don't harvest your things in time, they're kinda unsuitable to be eaten.
So as not to get frustrated, you can just assume that Chaz is a VERY GENEROUS person so he is donating all the proceeds from the "glitch produce sales" to charity. It's not like James threw away the produce anyway. He sold them but didn't take the money from it. 🤷♀️
Things we should build for the next house upgrade: 1. Half garage - half display house (with oversized crop on shelf) for selling table 2. Shed for eco living stuff, woodworking table,… 3. Small garden/bbq setup near the pond so we can have fishing day When we have money to spare, I would love to see a lot of farming clutters just hanging around. I think that looks cool and makes sense for such a big farm.
I haven't caught up yet, so you may have changed your mind since, but do consider that getting the markup from the selling table takes a *ton* of sim time compared to bulk-selling at market days and running the farm takes loads of it, so it might be a thing you can only afford (the time) to do for a few items-- though I've just hit Patchy tending the table, so maybe not 😂
You could make a little broken down shack at the front of your lot and put the selling table in it. That way sims will have cover during weather events and no lightning strikes to destroy the table. Maybe instead of a door you could use a part of the wall with spandrils. And definitely put a fence with a locked gate to protect your home entrances. Love your videos, James! Keep them coming!!!
I was hoping you'd save the aubergine for aubergine parm... Maybe next time. Yeah, I discovered I may not want to sell all the oversize produce, especially lettuce, since a few recipes require them. Canning the berries can help make money too since they're worth more than the berry and sugar you use to make them. So if your sims have time one day try doing that.
anyone else laugh so much when james was just talking about the gate and how he loves it and then chaz comes zooming through the gate on his bike to get the eggs?
A Bigwallet Brothers Country Store would be adorable. You could build it in front of the house and make it super-rustic. It could sell produce, canned goods, pies, cheese, and even bottled juice from the juice still. It would also be a great place to display the award-winning produce.
Winter w Seasons is such a pain with the crops and bees. Your brilliant idea of a greenhouse has been a massive help to keep more food variety, but the snow is such a pain that it’s tempting to turn off. Lol I’m so glad that EA will know about the inventory harvest issue, since you get to give feedback. It’s so frustrating and hard to remember.
Absolutely loving this Let's Play! Quick tip: if you feed your llama/cow a Fishy Protein Treat after giving them a colour treat (like a Rainbow Treat or Flirty Treat, etc.), then you will get an extra colour wool or milk!
When you sell to the stalls, they would presumably then mark up the price to sell. If you are selling directly to customers, there is no middle man, so you should get paid more from your selling table than at the stalls.
James you should add windmills or the water catcher. That's really common for farms. It will also help keep your utilities down. I just wish they had more of a rustic looking windmill.
At some point the chicken high security island needs more of the gtw prison equipment, like the security camera and the ominous red alarm light for added dramatic effect. =D
I feel like since it is time consuming for you to tend the table you should include the idea of price of labor. Selling to the stall is like selling wholesale so realistically you would earn less. I think a markup at the table makes more sense.
Just an idea- I'd move the recycler/water catcher etc. to a sort of more industrial-looking junkyard section of the farmyard, maybe with the woodworking table and other bits of junk, and keep the greenhouse as this more like 'classical' garden space. That reminds me of a lot of the farms I know in the UK, there's a sort of weird tension between cute country cottages and the industrial stuff you need for farming. I think it's really cool. Love how the farm is coming together, can't wait to see Hazel get stuck in!
Canning the produce means it no longer has an expiration date and stays unspoiled forever. It also sells for more once it's canned, especially the fancy mushrooms. You can use the canned goods for your Sims' recipes but also in some of the animal treats you craft. If you harvest every morning, then you can use it for canning or fertilizer or whatever, but at least it will be your decision since it'll be in your personal inventory and not the household one. I have a giant greenhouse with hundreds of plants. I harvest first thing every morning and I haven't had a single item go to the household inventory when i leave the lot. Just a thought. Love the series.
For the award winning produce, you could make a window display on the side of the house, propping the produce up using platforms and placing the photos and ribbons on a wall behind them. It would also be cool if you take a selfie with the crop while it’s on display at the fair!

You took the comment right out of my keyboard ha
Literally, I live in nz. It's 1am when it gets posted yet every night I stay up to watch the new episode
I'm lucky that it's 4 PM where I live so I don't have to sacrifice my sleep
Lol goodnight
2pm here!
Loving this either way!!
it's opposite where I live (rural Alberta Canada) you can get cheaper from the farmer's market and higher quality because they don't need to package and sell to the grocer who marks up prices and takes a cut.
I'm also from the US, but around here, farmer stands and farmers markets usually provide better produce for less money (and less packaging), so I think it depends on where in the US you live :) Also, it depends what produce you're buying, since the US pays huge subsidies to artificially lower supermarket prices, but often that's just for Big Agro/GMO produce, not local/independent organic farmers
ETA: That said, for the LP, I think it makes sense to mark up the price on the market table b/c the price Chaz gets from selling to Kim is lower than what she's gonna turn around and charge the customer (at least, in theory), so it makes sense that Chaz should be able to keep the extra profit that would otherwise be going to Kim, plus he's having to take the time to tend the table so he'll probably end up selling fewer items total... but really, it's whatever rules makes James happy (and/or make him hilariously frustrated, which is also fun to watch ;)
@@kweeniepiez Hey, I live in Alberta too! Howdy neighbour :)
same here in Germany.
Chaz dislikes mischief and we all know Hazel is the queen of mischief......... im excited to see this drama play out
Absolutely agree with the selling prices, you did it in island living until you got a store, I have been watching you since the Original Lady Bigwallet. I love that you actually have full length videos, even if I called you a Monster yesterday for leaving poor Hennibal all alone.
The recycler was such a good idea, James, for the household inventory glitch!
Remember if you want the cottage to have the cottage feel when hazel decorates it make sure Chaz and trentons likes follow that theme
Also James don’t forget to unlock the front door of the farm
ALWAYS give your Llama a fishy treat so you can get 2 golden wool
Also some names of the chickens:
Henna (might've been used already)
Henen (from Helen)
Henwig (from Hedwig)
Hendi (from Heidi)
Henmione (feel like this has already been used)
Henga (from Helga)
Also names for the evil chicken:
Henakin
Henperor Poulpatry (like Palapatine)
Kylo Hen
I lost it at Henakin 😂
I think Hellhen (also from Helen) for an evil chicken would be funny too
kylo hen is sending me
james make sure to make en evil rooster next time you get a midnight treat!!!! you can actually get Hatchable Obsidian Eggs, but you need a roster in the coop for that i think (or just put a regular rooster in with hennibal)
he said he was going to do this in the video
10:10 James, that's why there's written "missing" in the sentence just before the number 😂
I think its bc he just skims since he’s been playing for so long 😂 he doesnt notice the little things like when he grafted a chocoberry instead of a strawberry
@@Andreafondu yeah, tbh I do that a lot too so I understand 😂 that's why I'm trying to develop the habit of reading always everything 😅
My favorite part of this LP is James’ reaction to Batuu items every. Single. Time. I am here for it!
I would love to see Trenton in some bright gumboots as he walks through the mud!
Since it’s winter you can go back to the old house and get your nightly mushrooms.
James explaining his let's play rules to the commenter's suggestions reminds me of when kids used to invite you over to "play" at their house lol
Those grid windows in the greenhouse give off such beautiful shadows!
Whoever is responsible for James' household inventory produce issue rant - I hope you're happy...poor James ran out of breath 😂😂😂
It doesn't matter to me but I believe patchy is harvesting while he's not looking and thats why they are there.
@@paulabroadworth2504 it's not patchy. it does this to me too and I don't have patchy. it actually has to do with the fact that move objects was used with the plants or near the plants.
@@tinklebelle4792 Really? Ugh, that's so annoying! Hope it gets fixed 😖
I dont think its move objects. I happens to me and I don't use that cheat.
Tip: instead of buying Giant produce using the plots, purchase seeds at market after haggling.
I’ve resorted to previous rags to riches series while waiting for the new uploads! I’m heavily invested in this now.
I binged the 3 brothers series and will probably pick another series to watch soon 😅
The easiest way to get another evil chicken is to just put a couple of normal roosters in the coop with the obsidian hen. She'll produce a hatchable obsidian egg after a few days. In my current save, I have a whole coop filled with obsidian hens and chicks and one normal black rooster.
Me running from another video to get here.... I swear James gets me to do my chores early cause I need something to pass the time till he comes on
You can actually grow the oversized crops at their maximum size by interacting with them - encouraging growth, talking to the plant etc. I always get the big ones by this. :D
USE MC COMMAND CENTER PLEASE TO TRANSFER THE HOUSEHOLD INVENTORY TO CHAZ’S INVENTORY WITH ONE CLICK
yeahhh... telling the guy who doesn't want to cheat, to cheat is... 😬😬
Oh yeah I forgot he can do that now it's not early access anymore! Hope he does it soon 😂
@@darlinganon he's also sold things in the inventory before 🤷🏼♀️ but for this one he's been really strict. and imo mods are cheats and alter gameplay
Can you tell me how to use mc to transfer them? 🤧
except for the fact that a lot of people are reporting that even when they harvest the crops right before leaving the lot, they get a bunch they didn't earn in their household inventory anyway.
The easy way would just to have them actually harvest the produce from now on.
AND DO THE CANNING!
I’m not even mad that James struggles to make money in his LP I really love how he genuinely tries to make money by being the Sim. Can’t wait for the LPs to combine 😆
What about Henlock for the second evil chicken (you know, like the poisonous plant Hemlock).
Hey I discovered something interesting, if you sell produce to Michael the Creature Keeper, he gives you a fantastic markup. He only takes certain kinds of produce.
Take a picture of the product while it’s in the stall at the fair then use that photo for the reward wall
yes!!
the selling table reminds me of the plantain selling madness, it took days to sell all of them :'))
It’s a good thing you got the water collector, cause your bills were that much, because water alone was 1800 😳 So this should reduce the bill amount 🤞💪
When I saw those sprinklers running nonstop before they broke I was like oooohh nooo his bills are going to be SO HIGH
I don't want to sell those plants to make money, we're only growing them to make food and animal treats :)
Things we should build for the next house upgrade:
1. Half garage - half display house (with oversized crop on shelf) for selling table
2. Shed for eco living stuff, woodworking table,…
3. Small garden/bbq setup near the pond so we can have fishing day
When we have money to spare, I would love to see a lot of farming clutters just hanging around. I think that looks cool and makes sense for such a big farm.
I swear to God your little giggles every time you find something Batuu-related give me life 😂😂
Not James showing the keyboard like a beauty guru 😂
☠️
And this shade is the 'AHH BATUU', which is my personal favourite. 😅 I want a james turner palette now 🤣
paired with 'KATRINA!!'
I haven't caught up yet, so you may have changed your mind since, but do consider that getting the markup from the selling table takes a *ton* of sim time compared to bulk-selling at market days and running the farm takes loads of it, so it might be a thing you can only afford (the time) to do for a few items-- though I've just hit Patchy tending the table, so maybe not 😂
You can take a selfie with plants before you harvest…then when it wins a prize, I put the ribbon above the photo on the wall
that’s such a cute idea!
Keep them coming!!!
i love when Deli and James post at the same time - it's so so cute!
Grocery deliverer: 'I should get going'....Yeah, you think? LOL. I'm enjoying this LP so much!
I finish 15 and instantly recommended 16, my day just got alot better :)
Sameeee
I was hoping you'd save the aubergine for aubergine parm... Maybe next time. Yeah, I discovered I may not want to sell all the oversize produce, especially lettuce, since a few recipes require them.
Canning the berries can help make money too since they're worth more than the berry and sugar you use to make them. So if your sims have time one day try doing that.
Let's play a game,
Everytime James says "oohh Batuu" take a shot.
And now I'm happy drunk 🥴
Dead.
People really shouldnt be liked get mad or something cuz this is James' LP. Always grateful and excited to watch your videos. Thank you!
anyone else laugh so much when james was just talking about the gate and how he loves it and then chaz comes zooming through the gate on his bike to get the eggs?
I appreciate James approach to playing this game in his rags to riches series- the struggle makes it so much more worth it in the end! 💛😋
Opening a little farm shop would be so lovely have all the produce, bees wax and honey plus the cross stitch and wools. We British lap that up lol
A Bigwallet Brothers Country Store would be adorable. You could build it in front of the house and make it super-rustic. It could sell produce, canned goods, pies, cheese, and even bottled juice from the juice still. It would also be a great place to display the award-winning produce.
Love seeing how much fun James is having with these two packs!
Winter w Seasons is such a pain with the crops and bees. Your brilliant idea of a greenhouse has been a massive help to keep more food variety, but the snow is such a pain that it’s tempting to turn off. Lol
I’m so glad that EA will know about the inventory harvest issue, since you get to give feedback. It’s so frustrating and hard to remember.
Oh no. Hazel likes mischief and Chaz doesn’t. I can already see a rift forming in their relationship. 😂😂
You can get a mod that makes everything have a separate inventory.
James I’ve been living for these daily videos only thank you
For the award winning produce, you could make a window display on the side of the house, propping the produce up using platforms and placing the photos and ribbons on a wall behind them. It would also be cool if you take a selfie with the crop while it’s on display at the fair!
