Loved this movie when I was a kid and I just watched it for the first time in 20 years. I think it still holds up! It’s genuinely creepy at times and the acting is actually quite good.
... I saw this as a kid... it gave me a huge fear of escalators and elavators... im barely over it... then I heard someone died on an escalator.... yeah it got worse
I was wondering why the clips were so short but I guess it worked. I came here after watching a similar analysis/synopsis (analysynopis? ( made that word up but just roll with it ok?) about "don't look under the bed" from the channel Jordy Mcneil (called "banned Disney movie is nightmare fuel) and it's clips were a good bit longer. You may try to use that as a guide for what counts as "transformative enough". But as far as your video goes it was solid. I honestly think this movie, as campy as it was since it's a kids movie, is still much better designed and executed than a lot of horror movies today. It's amazing how far modern screen-writing has fallen. I wish movies were theatrically and cinematically made again instead of focusing on "realism" or worse, "member-berries". Isn't real life drab and sad and anxiety ridden enough? Why must our media be the same??
I watched this movie the night it premiered, I was seven years old and I LOVED it! I didn't see it again until I was an adult when I worked at a place that sold used DVDs and that one came in. Honestly, it's a fun dumb movie, great for kids who love something scary! You should do a video on a movie called "Rossini's Ghost" if you can find it! I had to watch it when I was a substitute teacher (meaning I watched it five times in a row one day), and it's so bizarre. It's about a little girl who goes back in time and meets the composer Rossini as he's preparing to put on his new opera. It's not Disney, but it seems up your alley!
@@ztrb0820 That's lovely! He was definitely one of my favorite parts of this one. I've been meaning to cover Addams Family so we'll probably see him again on the channel.
Guess I'm not the only one that had no idea a movie existed. I have ridden this ride, tho. That stretching room is a technological masterpiece. Also, Technology Connections!
I remember getting on the ride once and hearing a mom say to her scared kid, "eh, it's just an elevator. What could happen?" And I thought, "welp, that kid is never getting on an elevator again". 😂
I was soooooo little when I watched this! Bringing back memories. Hahah I feel like I most likely didn't really understand much, but I remember not liking this movie for some reason 🤔
It is a very strange movie and I feel like I appreciate it now but would have hated it as a kid. It's just scary enough that I would've been traumatized. 😅
A fun Halloween movie. I'm happy to own this and watch it a few times. There's alot of creepy moments. A great subtle one is one of the ghosts looking like he's being hanged against a wall or pillar within the lobby. It's in the foreground and slightly hidden in shadow. That moment gives me chills every time. Some may or may not notice it on the first viewing. But I sure did. Like I said, A great subtle scare. :)
Does anyone else remember that Freaky Friday movie, not the one with Lindsey Lohan or the first one with Jody Foster. The middle one with Demi Moore's daughter ???
So this is one of the many weird movies I watched when I had to stay up for EEGs as a kid. I loved this movie, I still do but it probably helps that I had to be awake for 20hrs before those and I couldn't have sugar or caffeine past a certain time. Maybe the sleep deprivation makes it less scary, because I don't remember this movie ever being scary.
It's definitely one of the better dcoms I think. I'm not sure why they make it so hard to watch nowadays. I'm glad it could be entertaining for you at what sounds like a generally un-fun time. 🙂
I totally forgot about that movie haha. I have a distant memory of seeing him in Three Men and a Baby many years ago. Another interesting movie to say the least. 😂
That's great! Yeah Disney is my childhood but they have done some pretty shady stuff as a company. It's great that you own it! It took me forever to track this one down haha.
I've been thinking about covering some episodes of monk in the near future so I'm glad to know that's something that more than just I am excited for. 💛
The protagonist does have a unique way of confronting concepts of existential Terror. Even your two dimensional Action Movie bad asses usually just maintain a cold stoicism. In this, Steve Guttenberg ... well, he Steve Guttenbergs.
@@AveryTalksAboutStuff It's that interplay of over and under reactions that makes it a proper Steve Guttenberging. Find out that the hotel's continental breakfast has your favorite cereal and react enthusiastically. See a horde of zombies rush in from the lobby and make an offhand joke about breakfast being ruined. Also, usually when I make up words I have to wrestle with the autocorrect, but as soon as I started trying to turn Guttenberg into a verb, it just said "You know what? Live your life how you want to; I'm out."

Joke’s on you! I saw this movie as a child and my therapist says I’m doing just fine 😎
😂😂😂 that's good. My therapist says I won't recover for a while.
disney wants this movie banished lolllllll
For real though! I had to rent a dvd bc they won't stream it anywhere. 😂😂

It's kinda funny because the actor who plays the bellhop was Isaac in Children of the Corn.

Disney apparently doesn't want you to know it existed because good lord was it hard to track this one down. 😂
mysfiring the stretching room is in the haunted mansion not in tower of terror
@@iamedo8121 hehe, yeah. I realised that *after* I posted the comment. lol.
Sadly this got overshadowed by Halloweentown that came out a year later. Shame because both movies were so good
Yep, both classics in their own right!
I have a huge fear of elevators thanks to this movie but I loved it
I remember getting on the ride once and hearing a mom say to her scared kid, "eh, it's just an elevator. What could happen?" And I thought, "welp, that kid is never getting on an elevator again". 😂
Remember? I was in it! I even conceived my daughter whilst on set, on the last day of production.
Well that escalated quickly...
Wtaf..
I to this day always recognize that one guy as Lloyd from Brotherly Love
Tower of terror is the best thrill ride at any Disney resort!😍
One of my very favorite rides!

yay, you're talking about my favorite f*cking movie!!
I had never seen it before but it's quite an experience. 😂
oh.. damn. lmao.
It was soooo good! So many people have not seen this!
I literally had to use Netflix's DVD mailing program like I was back in high school to get a copy. 😭

@@Raddierae94 nice! Thanks for the tip, I want to have this one in the collection.
Did you know that the kid who played the younger Abby (Shira Roth) was in Campout at Walt Disney World?
No, I didn't! I just looked it up because I'd never heard of that before and omg thank you for bringing it up! XD So much 90s at once haha.
@@AveryTalksAboutStuff your welcome

The Olsen twin movie "Double double toil and trouble" (? something like that) would be a good one for fall/ Halloween too

In another movie about a haunted house where he plays pretty much the same character
