I know most on here are likely quite young, but postpartum depression is not something that can be "cured" or prevented with "happy thoughts" and a "strong mind". It can happen to anyone and you should seek immediate treatment if this is something that happens to you. You are not weak minded, as implied in this video, it is a medical condition. Strong mothers get treatment to ensure they are safe as well as their baby, they don't pretend it isn't real.
Rydel you should do another pregnancy video with stormie! I think she has some amazing stories she can share with us about her experiences being pregnant.
Gurrrrllll, I love your answers, HOWEVER depression is NOT a matter of will power. It's quite DANGEROUS to trivilize depression by claiming you "refused" to get it or you had the "power" to stay positive! If it were that easy, nobody, especially mothers wouldn't have any depressions. 💁🏻♂️
Sounds like you're handling new motherhood like a pro, and a positive attitude definitely helps. However, being a positive person doesn't mean you can't suffer from postpartum depression. It's a chemical imbalance, not just an "attitude" issue. New moms suffering from it should not be down on themselves for something they can't necessarily control.
Yeah I strongly agree with you. It’s not a choice, it is something that can happen to anyone. Being positive all the time doesn’t work for everyone and sometimes it’s just not possible to be happy all the time. Postpartum depression is very much real and there’s no shame if you do or did get it.
Thank you so much for this, I just commented something like this as well. I love Rydel but she was blessed with not having depression. It’s not something someone can control by being “positive” or having a “strong mind” ❤️
I had a hard time watching this because that’s not how postpartum depression works. You can’t just say “stay positive” when you don’t have help and aren’t getting sleep. Also, it sounds like she’s basically just sleep training really early. Please remember guys that she has a lot of family help and sleep as she stated and not everybody has that so that really helped her to not get postpartum depression.
I've been following you since you were in R5 and the fact you have a baby seems so surreal. IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS AND WISH YOU THE BEST!!! He's already such a loved baby I can't wait to see him grow up and keep seeing your family grow!
My mom did the same thing with feeding every 4 hours with my sister and I! - & she got my sister to do it with her son as well! Lol so I agree that it DEFINITELY works!! & her son sleeps through the WHOLE night!
i don’t know abt y’all but i would LOVEEE to hear rydel talk more abt being positive & treating yourself right & how to have a positive mindset yk… or is that just me??
Hi Rydel! I'm glad to hear everything has been going pretty smoothly. I am happy your feeding schedule is working out. :) I'm just hoping you okayed the feeding schedule with your pediatrician to ensure Super is getting the adequate caloric intake. I'm a nursing student and we have learned infants are to be fed every 2-3 hours on breastmilk, or 8-12 times a day. When they grow older, they can sustain longer periods of time, as well as if they are being formula fed since formula takes longer to digest. I am by no means a doctor and I just wanted to make sure that this was approved by the professionals. If so, this seems magical and when I have kids I might have to try it out. ;) I love your channel and I'm happy to see you (& Super) are recovering nicely! :)
My sister in law had the epidural for her first and second pregnancies and no epidural for her last and she couldn’t sit for like two months. So I’m really happy and proud of you, Rydel❤️
I love how positive you are. Pregnancy and child birth is so hard and exhausting, so it’s pretty amazing that you are so bright and positive. I can’t wait to see your family grow!
I neeed to know more about this feeding schedule. This sounds like the holy grail of parenting! Please share the deets queen! Btw your light and positivity is definitely contagious 💞
I’m not pregnant and probably won’t be for many years to come, but the feeding schedule sounds so interesting and definitely something that could help a lot of people if it seems to work
This doesn’t have anything to do with your postpartum journey: I find your presence calming. It’s like chilling with a friend. Also, I was always plain and more of a tomboy. Seeing the way you upkeep your appearance inspires me. The way you genuinely enjoy fixing your hair, nails, and makeup motivates me to do the same. You keep it fun and it’s not for anyone but yourself. You make it look so easy so thanks for that and for sharing glimpses into your life.
I love real stories of pregnancy where they share their struggles and you empathize with them cause I can imagine it can be really heard! However I love love love this positive outlook of pregnancy I haven’t really seen before, unknowingly I realized I had become a bit anxious about getting pregnant in the future, for the whole deal, PPD, nursing, giving birth, tearing, bleeding, honestly it started to sound not so great but I’ve always wanted to become a mom, this calms me greatly, I know it’s not the same for everyone but to see someone so positive and genuinely happy is so refreshing 💖 (edit: plus I’m a med student so jeez I have become anxious about many things to be fair😂!)
cannot get over how incredibly wonderful it was to hear you talk about handling positive and negative thoughts that’s been such an important thing for me recently!!
Rydel, you so beautiful! Girl your so strong, I love you so much, and your positive and you inspire me a lot! Your probably wondering how you inspire me? We’ll you inspire me by, having a positive attitude and having such a great life in general. :) again ilysm and your family! ❤️
yessss part 2 please!! i find this very interesting and from this video, you could see what a happy person you are and how much you love super and want to make him happy and healthy!!
The episiotomy (the cut down there to prevent tearing) is like a way to have a "controlled" tearing instead of risking to an uncontrolled, huge or dangerous tearing. A very good decision from you and your doctor!
Aww well done babe love u 😘 can't wait for baby 2 then the rest hope u stay on UA-cam with all the kids and Capron u never gave Rydel her library ice cream 🍦 🍨 💖
I love your energy and positivity Being a mom is can be a lot but it’s also the most beautiful thing in life. When I had my baby girl she was born with meconium aspiration and she was in the NICU for a week. It was so hard for me to stay positive because I was so worried about her but as soon as she was home with me, I was the happiest mom ever and I enjoyed every moment with her even if she kept me up some nights. 💕 you’re a great mom rydely and I’m glad you know what you’re doing😊
Feels like just yesterday it was 2013 and 12 year old me was absolutely enchanted with you while you were singing "Shut Up and Let Me Go". So amazing growing up with you and it's been so emotional watching you become a mom, you're doing so wonderful! I'm so proud of you Delly ❤❤❤ Sending you love from Washington!!!
I'm so excited to se all the 6 kids together as a cute and lovely team. Also we need The baby whisperer (Stormie's) secrets all relating to kids and stuff.
I don't know, my pediatrician scolded me and said I had to wake my twins up every 2 hours to feed them no matter what. 4 hours is pushing it. I am glad it worked for her but I just don't think this is going to work for every baby.
I was also told that until they reach their birth weight again you have to wake them to feed if they sleep longer than 4 hours but idk maybe she was told different. I had my son 2 months ago
Yeah I was thinking this too. A friend of mine at work said their child’s pediatrician told them even if their baby was sleeping through the night they had to wake up their baby to feed them so they would gain the appropriate weight
Hey Rydel! So I truly love following you on your journey and have since your early R5 days! Watching you get married and become a mama is seriously so surreal and I couldn’t be happier for you! - however, (and who knows if you will even see this) i was caught off guard when you answered the postpartum question! I totally get that you’re super positive and mostly happy, but honestly I can say that having that mindset that like... you’re refusing yourself get to that place is a privilege. You deserve to be happy and i am soo glad you are, but unfortunately depression/PPD, isn’t something you have control over. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, not just someone who isn’t positive or strong, or happy. If that makes sense. I’m sure you didn’t mean any harm by this comment, but as a supporter I just wanted to share some food for thought. Like I said, it’s incredible that you don’t suffer from depression, so please see that as a blessing. No one chooses to be sad, especially new mamas. It’s just a psychological thing they literally have no control over. I would be super grateful if you maybe looked into this more, as it truly could be more helpful for you and your supporters. Good luck ❤️
That’s true! Babies do sleep through the night! My baby boy since he was 1 month old has being sleeping the entire night, now he is 19 months, and still sleeping through the whole night
You’re so sweet. Just found your channel. I will say in my opinion you’ve lucked out that you got a good sleeper. If he was sleeping through the night right away, that’s a huge blessing. A ton of moms have to do a ton of work to get a good sleeper! (My baby is awesome too- she’s three months old, but definitely none of my own doing). ALSO, I’m a very happy person as well. But definitely had baby blues. They’re reaaalllll.
Rydel being a mom so suits her. I mean look at her 😍 she can definitely do it like 5 more times. I love that they share their lives with us, cuz we love them 🥰
Yes for the nursing schedule video!! I’m due any day now and I’ve gotten lots of different information on nursing , i just need something that we can stick to! Also, your personality is so contagious 😍ahhh! Congrats on the new addition!!
I haven't seen any but there may be some comments about the schedule you have him. To me it shouldn't matter how a mom does things as long as its working and it's healthy for the baby then people just need to mind their own business. I'll never tell a patent how to do things because every baby is different and the parent will find what works themselves. I'm glad that you don't take things to heart about the way you do things. It works for you and that's all that matters
I wanna hear all about it!!!! I wanna have children so bad. Literally 24/7 baby fever for me! I love watching your videos cause of how positive you are. I have depression so it really boosts my mood for the better. But when you announced you were pregnant I was so exited and I love babies sooooo much!!!
YES!!! A nursing/sleeping schedule video with Stormie please! That sounds amazing. I don’t have kids yet, but boy oh boy does that schedule sound amazing!,
You and Capron give me so much hope. My 3 year relationship ended 2 weeks ago and it’s been very hard cause I thought we were going to get married. I’m turning 24 and I want nothing more than to get married and have a family one day. I know I’ll find someone who is as obsessed with me as Capron is with you. ❤️
Yes! Babies can sleep through the night if you let them and you have to be in control of the entire situations. My baby slept through the night from day 1 and I kept him on a schedule every 4 hours to keep it up and I never woke him up in the middle of the night to feed him. He would have woke up if he was hungry anyway. I had a strict controlled schedule so that I could get myself together and then love my baby too. You don’t have to jump as soon as the baby makes a noise and they don’t have to have food if they are awake. Let them be content and just exist without eating. We all do what’s best for our children and nobody is right or wrong.
Thank you for your positive message!! It's beautiful to see such a relaxed and happy mother. I'm so happy for you and extramely grateful, we need positive vibes like this!!
I’m in a zoom but this seemed more important
LOL same

Yes that would be amazing!
Yeeeesss!!
YES PLEASE!! That would be do help for all of us future moms, especially those of us who don't have moms of our own to give us this advice!!

❤️❤️❤️ THIS
so important!! such a dangerous narrative to project!
1000% agree with you !

Am I the only one who’s taking notes for when I have a baby in the future or is that just me? 😂
Rydel is such a sweet and energetic person! Rydel please do a part 2!
Ezra eats every 4 hours as well! Having a schedule makes it so much easier!!! Ezra is only 10 weeks older than Super! 💙

i also noticed this, i really think this should be addressed as she has young viewers and this really is such a dangerous narrative to portray
The whole thought spiral thing was actually so good
I can't believe I met her when she was forming R5 together with her brothers and now she is a mother, she is going to be the best mother in the world
I CANT WAIT TO BE A MAMA LIKE RYDEL💋💓
I had a hard time watching this because that’s not how postpartum depression works. You can’t just say “stay positive” when you don’t have help and aren’t getting sleep. I’m not ready to have a baby for YEARS, but you better believe I took notes on the nursing schedule. You got this figured out girl!!
Some people are made to be great moms, Rydel is that person :)
i don’t know abt y’all but i would LOVEEE to hear rydel talk more abt being positive & treating yourself right & how to have a positive mindset yk… or is that just me??
Hey Rydel, I just wanted to let you know Super is the cutest baby and your doing amazing 😍
I need to hear more about this every four hours nursing thing cause I feel like this will be sooo helpful when I have babies someday!
Honestly having babies always seemed so scary but this video makes me feel like I could do it.

She is going to be (and already is) the best mom ever!
I love your energy and positivity

I am glad you’re doing so well
Your mom should totally do a video about the feeding schedule! Honestly it would be so helpful and nice!!!
Aspyn Ovard did the schedule too and it worked amazing for her!
Wishing Capron a happy belated birthday! HE's 28! Rydel, you guys are perfect for each other!
Rydel you are so beautiful don't even look like you just had a child can't wait till you have more
I'm so excited to se all the 6 kids together as a cute and lovely team. Also we need The baby whisperer (Stormie's) secrets all relating to kids and stuff.
Rydel just has this “big sister” vibe and I really enjoy hearing and seeing how you’re adapting to Super being in the world as a first time mom!
Can’t wait for the baby nursery tour on your family channel💙
The fact that yesterday I explained exactly the same to my mom about the positive thoughts, the vicious circle and etc🥺🥺
I love her energy it's so great
Would absolutely love a video of you & your mom explaining the nursing schedule!

Let's get Rydel to 500k! Do it for the FUNKS
The British accent at the beginning is hilarious
I love how positive she is!
Thank you so much Rydel.
I personally don't think everyone has to go through postpartum depression.
Ur rant on positivity at the end is so useful to me. Thank you❤️
What a beautiful mom♥ I'm so proud of you! Love from Argentina♥
I’m glad that your baby is doing good. It’s okay to be realistic and know when to adapt to be okay.
Hey Rydel! So I truly love following you on your journey and have since your early R5 days! Congratulations again, Rydel. You are an amazing person and role model. Thank you!

I am the biggest fan from the UK, I’m obsessed! Super is gorgeous! I loved your birthing video and seeing Capron cry melted my heart 🥺

Yes and YES 💓💓 I loved seeing you grow throughout the last 10 years (nearly) with R5 and now Super!
i swear rydel is the best. i absolutely love her positive attitude towards everything. i was there when r5 came out and now she has a baby. ❤️🥺
