Played against Eroni back in Fiji in a 7s tournament back in Lautoka.. he was so hungover everyone including ref could smell strong alcohol on him..still I was impressed with his performance, he was fit still ..he played like he was a Bully. Won’t forget that day because he smashed one of our best players.. I’m not surprised of how far he’s come. Definitely Sledge Hammer 💯

I am not Fijian but I have followed Fijian rugby for over 20 years. This is the one puzzling omission from the national team over an extended period of time. I've seen him in the 15's game and he is just as effective. For some reason or other he has not received many 15's caps.

They didn't...from what i heard he went to coach somewhere in france maybe because he was supporting his family.
Baber had just taken over the 7s team, and he dropped Sau and Naduva who were star players that series, and he opted for big names Radradra and Tuisova who were not 7s fit. They cost us the knockout against NZ7s, when joe ravouvou ran around them both like nothing. Sau and Naduva should have been there, and we should have won that world cup 7s, but alas.. all good. Glad to see Sau in the 2023 Drua team! Toso Drua, Toso Viti!
Erosion Sau is a perfect example (alongside Jerry Tuwai and others) that the men of smaller stature in Fiji are not to be taken lightly... either they got speed, power and even worse if they have both...

@@theresavunivalu8818 Huh ? Never heard of that. He was in the squad for the World Cup and dropped in favour of Tuisova. It was poor decision by the coach. They went for the more well known Tuisova. If there was something else internal that happened, it was never released.

No, what he did was at second halves because he knew they were heavy, fit but heavy...
That's the difference between Ryan who thinks Strategically and Baber who has no idea of the possibility that Tiring can slow them.. Tuisova maybe a monster at the Game of 15's but come 7's Sau is the 1st Half Player...

Hi there. There is no doubting this man's ability on both sides of the ball!!! But, are the tackling rules different in Rugby 7's? There are some high tackles and shoulder first tackles that would be a penalty and/or a yellow card, at the very least in 15 aside rugby.
Great Question! The tackling rules in 7 aside footy are exactly the same as 15 aside, maybe even stricter. They crack down a lot more on high tackling, Where even if the arm makes contact with the head or neck any time during the tackle, you will be sent off, rather than playing advantage and carrying on. Some of the times Eroni Sau has done this and been sent off for 2 mins in the bin. As for the leading with the shoulder, Im not too sure about the rulings on that, but Eroni Sau usually usually uses his shoulder and wraps his arms as well, I mean in a good, bone rattling tackle you would get that shoulder in before wrapping the arms. But idk... thanks for the response! :)
The high tackles did get penalised and the “shoulder first” well the arm does come round for the wrap still so its not an illegal tackle. My thought form the games i watched anyways.

For someone to be perfect at both needs time when you transfer. Like when Sau is now a 7's to 15's Convert time will give him experience and body build of a winger to tackle huge people..he must gain weight and stuff and time will give him that..Unlike Baber he didn't realixe those few weeks of 7's World Cup prep was not enough to loosen body weight for Tuisova
