This song is such a strong cathartic emotional release to listen to in these troubled times. God bless Robert Wyatt and all the wonderful music he created.
Sitting here and feeling it all. Drunk. Sometimes there are no words to describe feelings. But this song is like when you've lost everything in your life but you still have the moon over the sea. All the chaos and the beauty. You can still be wild, be yourself, and just howl
One of the greatest love songs ever written imho. I absolutely adore this track. Thank you Robert. Although ironically my wife just crossed the street to get away from me singing it at the top of my lungs, so what do I know
because it's a love song between a man and an imaginary/fantaisy creature that a normal woman can't understand, the reason why you stayed alone singing/feeling this song
This song has been one of my favorites for a long time. I'm also a big Lovecraft fan and only a few days back I realized how very very lovecraftian the lyrics are 😮
"Rock Bottom" the tittle of the iconic record of Robert Wyatt ... a jewel, perhaps the most clever pop music ever ! Nevertheless, a sensitive way of music that not everybody can understand neither feel !🥰🥰🥰This is what i listened to when i was 20 Yo !!! Such an authentic psychedelic music doesn' t exist anymore in western societies, but is spreading much and more in India ... another level of consciousness that the herd cannot reach to !

You look different every time You come from the foam-crested brine It's your skin shining softly in the moonlight Partly fish, partly porpoise, partly baby sperm whale Am I yours? Are you mine to play with? Joking apart When you're drunk you're terrific When you're drunk I like you mostly Late at night, you're quite alright But I can't understand the different you In the morning when it's time to play At being human for a while Please smile (interlude) You'll be different in the spring, I know You're a seasonal beast Like the starfish that drift in with the tide, with the tide So until your blood runs to meet the next full moon Your madness fits in nicely with my own, with my own Your lunacy fits neatly with my own My very own We're not alone
@@michaelmarino3013 Love Maryan, but it was originally composed by Philip Catherine (as "Nairam")... just to give credit where it's due. Needless to say, both Nairam and Maryan are fantastic....
Whoa. I got here out of curiosity about an older gentleman in a wheelchair speaking the verse of Comfortably Numb in David G's 'Meltdown' set. Now I get it!!
Don't ever forget about Pink Floyd's NICK MASON. He'd been friends with Wyatt back in the pre-fame psychedelic days when Soft machine and the Floyd often opened for each other at small venues. After Wyatt broke his back and became wheelchair bound, it was Mason who urged Wyatt to record his songs, and offered to be producer. .
Of An Ear era superiore a aRovk Bottom. Lo stesso accadeva con Ummagumma ritenuto superiore a The Dark side...
Not all that much. IT's kinda of sweet in a way, I suppos but he's not that great of a singer and the tune isn't that amazing and the never ending scat singing/wailing at the end is awful.
Love this album ❤
One of the best ever made in music
Thanks Robert !!!

My absolute favourite song of all time. Totally superb.
This is my favorite album of all times. Robert is beautiful.
It is truly a work of genius.
Hearing... Crying...
I'm fairly sure I love him.

Grazie a te!
One of the best songs ever
Album leggendario
This and the following track "A Last Straw" should be enough to warrant Wyatt a lifetime achievement award.
I love Robert's singing a true maverick musical genius.
I could listen to this song for hours on end, all the time.
Timeless song ✨

The fact that you are physically able to sing this song impresses me quite a bit already!
Masterpiece!! Art, music and genius...RW!!
MERAVIGLIOSO
Uno dei piu...
This man and the rock bottom album Have been a staple of my listening diet for years now . He’s bloody magical !
Rien de plus beau...
Thank you, eldritch stranger, for making music whose madness fits so neatly with my own.
The greatest song ever
rock bottom is wyatt's great work. it's not really an album to excerpt, but this is a good way in.
Peter Hammill (Van der Graaf Generator) and Robert Wyatt (Soft machine) for me in This musical Field, Them are the BEST and the Masters!!!
I agree! I saw VDG a lot of times in the 70's and Peter Hammil alone after...magic! and Rock Bottom is one of my great vinyls!!
You're certainly right but I add Mark Hollis :o)) especially his last album "Mark Hollis"
@@francinecocq7359 hollis and sylvian...and with roger chapman are also the best singers for me
I is agreed with your view

Brilliant
robert wyatt has such an eccentric musical personality. Check "Maryan" by this guy
Just listened to maryan. And it caught my ear right away.

Amazing Roland O heard what he did in this to cover it. Maybe R.W heard what R.O eventually came up with?
Essential Scaruffi-core
I must admit, droning that fucker pays off in dividends
he's how i found this album but i forgot how scaruffi became relevant besides you know
More than a 6/10!

One of my fave songs of all time. But is this a remix? Sounds different...
...every time.
Anyone whose life isn't changed after hearing this album... listen better.
Without taking anything away grom Yorke & co, Kid A and Amnesiac are based on this Lp
this sounds cool on headphones. by design, I know. still.
I'm not digging the mix. Sounds like something's out of phase, makes my ears uncomfortable. Beautiful harmonies though!
Jammie ....

bowie?
same
This is from the same year as Diamond Dogs, 1974. I’ve never thought they sound like each other. Both are very distinct.
Lol bowie??? I think rob had more originality and talent in his little finger than David had in his whole being.

Great misses ( his greatest hits just came out)

Lol
I prefer the cover from Dune
it has a charm. The lyrics could use some work
What is so good about this? It’s quite childish.
Exactly
listen to it 5 times. then you know!
You got your answer, my man
