Another great shootout you two :-) The super crunch of the Gus's chicken had me guessing you'd pick that one, but I'm always on the edge of my seat until the big reveal! Those fried green tomatoes looked delicious as well. Thanks for a great episode. Stay healthy!
I’ve only had Gus’s in Memphis but I think it was probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Another great shootout. Thank you guys for bringing us along!
You both are amazing vlogers ! We are from the UK and can not wait to be able to travel again and follow your suggestions! First on the list New Orleans and one of those purple slushies !! Xx
What a fun shoot out! I love how there’s an exercise program being held simultaneously with the vlog 😹 I agree w/ Lisa, coleslaw that is on the sweeter side is best with savory southern meals.
Yaay.. I knew Gus's would win! Glad you tried the tomatoes. They are delicious. So I have to drive quite a bit to get to Long Beach to pick up Gus's but with this rainy day and watching your shoot out I'm dying for some Gus's 😊😉🍗
I would've timed my chewing of Gus' fried chicken to the rhythm of the exercise class. 0:53 menu...yes, peanut oil is the most delicious way to fry chicken, turkey, potato chips, etc. I appreciate the unpretentiousness of Gus' atmosphere, the chipped walls, cement floor, and that old school sign at 0:34. That sign would go for $$$$ on American Pickers.
Great video you 2. I love the concept of competing foods against each other. We know you aren't professionals, and that is perfect, because most of us watching are not professional eaters either. We actually have Gus's in KC. The chicken is a little spicy for my taste, but was cooked to perfection. I can't remember if they offered a mild or not.
Another great video. Gus's fried chicken reminds me of Pioneer chicken back in the 80's. All your choices are always fantastic and yummy! You can make any type of food tasty. Always fun to watch your videos and makes my day!
Y'all are great! I haven't had Gus's and it looks great. I have had Hattie B's and loved it. I especially loved the pimento mac and cheese. I am excited they are opening one here in Dallas this summer!
Hi bill and lisa. Great video. Gave me a couple of giggles. Bill you were funny trying to get that leg and thigh apart lol. That food so good. Thanks for sharing the flavors of Alabama. Take care guys and be safe.
I love the fried chicken from the Blue Ribbon restaurant inside Cosmopolitan. I think the restaurant was way better then their take out location near Bally’s hotel
Lisa says “let’s get it on, babe!” You guys crack me up! Thanks so much for doing this. We love Hattie B’s in Vegas, but have never had Gus’s. Turns out there is one right here in Lexington, KY! We also have a Joella’s Hot Chicken that we’ve never tried, so maybe we’ll do a shoot out of those two!
They both looked really good! I'm a fan of KFC coleslaw and that's what came to mind when I first saw the Gus' version. The Gus' mac looked better to me for some reason!🤷♂️ I'd definitely try both if I'm ever down that way!
Love it! Two people who enjoy the same things and places. Can it get any better? I think not. New subscriber here! Thanks for highlighting the places I have been already. By the way, you will love Italy and Greece. Don't forget to visit Croatia. The people are so friendly. Blessings to you!
We wanted an authentic fried chicken experience when we were in NOLA and ended up at Gus's. Turns out, we have one in Santa Ana lol. The hospitality in NOLA was wonderful... food was good at both places!
They have a Gus‘s fried chicken I believe it’s in Long Beach but I know it’s in LA somewhere. My daughter took me to it it’s delicious. Mind you she made chicken that is even better than Gus’s really.
I love, love, love KFC coleslaw as well and this is making me hungry. I was planning on making mac&ch for work. Now, I'm thinking of ordering KFC since I'm in Boston.
The ADC was in Washington State area that Boeing was closing. Boeing is leaving to NC I think? Do you watch 747 gear or San Chui? I was in in the air fprce and am a aviation enthusiast.
Gus’s looked great!!! I love fried green tomatoes. I liked the way Hatties coleslaw looked better than Gus’s. Mad and cheese gets the Gus vote. I guess I will review by sight only with you. Oh that exercise class hahahaha made you sound like you were in a huge gym. Too funny!!
Hey there have you both tried Blazin Hens on Artesia blvd in Redondo Beach? It’s very good and shares a business with Slider Stop. Sliders are good too but the chicken is amazing! I’ve seen great reviews for Pinky’s Hot Box in Torrance on Crenshaw. I haven’t been there yet, but after watching your video which tortured me, I may have to give Pinky’s a try real soon!
You two make me want to go out and eat every time i watch your videos. really enjoy fried chicken. just noting might want to do a cold fried chicken shootout. many eat them bhirds fried and cold like picnick food.
Hi Bill and Lisa hope you guys are having so much fun in Alabama. Can you please do a shout out on your next video for my husband Luis Antunez his birthday is tomorrow. Thank you stay safe and healthy! ❤️
Made to order fried chicken...yums. Still it was odd for Hattie's to leave the chicken in quarters...hella hard to eat w/o making a mess of the whole thing.
That’s the way HB serves the ‘Half Chicken’. It was busy there, so we’re guessing the marinate soak time was at a minimum, thus didn’t have the kick a ‘mild’ was supposed to have.
Just looking at the video Gus’s chicken looks so much more crispy and juicy and you could tell that it was going to just taste delicious and their Mac & cheese just looks so creamy and rich.I think I might have to take a trip and definitely try this fried chicken.
I could tell within the first 20 seconds of the video this was recorded in Birmingham (because the only Gus's location and only Hattie B's location in Alabama are both in Birmingham). My brother attending graduate school a little more than 2 hours from Birmingham thinks Eugene's Hot Chicken is even better than Hattie B's. It isn't quite a fair comparison between Gus's Fried Chicken and Hattie B's because Gus's has a Cajun spicy taste while Hattie B's is a Nashville hot chicken place. The latter has a different, hotter spice profile than Gus's. Both are excellent though; Gus's is probably a little more moist and tender. P.S. Ironically the first time I ever had Nashville hot chicken was at the Hattie B's in Birmingham!
Both looked really good! When in Alabama you must get the Alabama White Sauce!!! It's good for dipping anything in. I put that Sh%#@t on everything!!!!!!!!! LOL Nice video guys.
I gotta say, I really don’t get how food reviewers can have a reaction after chewing the food one to two times and then start explaining it. I would have to chew 5-10 seconds and swallow before giving my opinion.
Gus must have some fabulous chicken if they have to have an exercise studio over the restaurant, they both look fantastic and I'm going to order fried chicken now
Slaw should be cut thick, lest the cabbage and carrot slices get too soggy in the dressing! Also, Southerners (I am half-Southern) put pimentos in mac 'n' cheese, too.
I'm trying to locate a video that I watched of you folks the other day of you at Main Street hotel in Vegas. Did it get deleted? Anyway just wanted to see if for sure Main Street hotel buffet is open
I appreciate how Bill and Lisa describe all the little things like the food temperature, the texture, and smell.
Love watching you. You bring such a positive perspective to my day.
Another great shootout you two :-) The super crunch of the Gus's chicken had me guessing you'd pick that one, but I'm always on the edge of my seat until the big reveal! Those fried green tomatoes looked delicious as well. Thanks for a great episode. Stay healthy!
Loved seeing the chicken. I could hear the crispiness in Gus's pieces. As usual, I was drooling.
Those fried chicken 🍗 looks so yummy. Hearing the crunch makes me want some NOW! You two are my stress busters. Hope to meet you one day 💖
Yassss!!! I think hearing “shoot out” only feels right if it’s coming from Bill & Lisa LOLOLOL
I’ve only had Gus’s in Memphis but I think it was probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Another great shootout. Thank you guys for bringing us along!
Hattie B is good but Gus is better
That’s hilarious, a workout class above the fried chicken Place🙈. Have fun guys. Be careful.
Ya that’s strange lol.
Agreed. You can smell the fried chicken from the parking lot, so you know the business upstairs can smell that deliciousness for sure!
@@billandlisa soo funny🙈
Would say more like absurd. Torture.
I can’t believe the night I decided to watch this, I was having fake morning star farms chicken nuggets for dinner. The real chicken looked so good😋
The second place looks good but they need to cut the pieces first.
Pro tip....try the sweet potato pie at Gus's. Amazing!
You both are amazing vlogers ! We are from the UK and can not wait to be able to travel again and follow your suggestions! First on the list New Orleans and one of those purple slushies !! Xx

Omg! I couldn’t exercise smelling yummy fried chicken the whole time!LOL
LOL Deb!
Hattie B's @ Cosmo is a favorite!!
Yes most definitely!
Loved the crunch in both chickens! Sounded delish!
People exercising while you're trying to chow down some fried chicken! That cracked me up!
Great video you 2. I love the concept of competing foods against each other. We know you aren't professionals, and that is perfect, because most of us watching are not professional eaters either. My new Favorite channel, I hope I can meet you guys next time you're in Vegas🎲
The fried chicken looked amazing at both places. Moist and crunchy! Really enjoy your reviews!
I prefer Gus's over Hattie B's, another great video!
WOW EVERYTHING LOOKS SO DELICIOUS, THANKS FOR SHARING ANOTHER FANTASTIC VIDEO, KEEP UP THE AWESOME JOB
Never tried fried “green” tomatoes! Fried chicken looks good! Aloha 🌸
Been a fan for a while! Would love to see more Mexico travel videos !!!
Another great video. Gus's fried chicken reminds me of Pioneer chicken back in the 80's. All your choices are always fantastic and yummy! You can make any type of food tasty. Always fun to watch your videos and makes my day!
Going to try Gus’ this weekend. Their first location just opened in the Phx area.
Y'all are great! I haven't had Gus's and it looks great. I have had Hattie B's and loved it. I especially loved the pimento mac and cheese. I am excited they are opening one here in Dallas this summer!
We had Hattie B's from Goldbelly, last night and it was awesome.
Get the Gus's 2fer special. Fried chicken dinner and a workout! Lol
The sides at Gus' looked so good. And the banana pudding at looked fantastic.
Hi bill and lisa. Great video. Gave me a couple of giggles. Bill you were funny trying to get that leg and thigh apart lol. That food so good. Thanks for sharing the flavors of Alabama. Take care guys and be safe.
I haven’t even finished the video, but I have to say that Gus’s is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. OK, back to the video!
The fried chicken looked so good at both places! I love a crunchy creamy coleslaw too! Safe Travels! Fun vlog!
I love the fried chicken from the Blue Ribbon restaurant inside Cosmopolitan. I think the restaurant was way better then their take out location near Bally’s hotel

Yes! Give Gus’s a try!
That Hattie B’s chicken looked insanely huge and great tasting!
You don't have to justify a little dessert!!🥰 I haven't had banana pudding in years! You cant go wrong eating at anyone of these places!
They both looked really good! I'm a fan of KFC coleslaw and that's what came to mind when I first saw the Gus' version. The Gus' mac looked better to me for some reason!🤷♂️ I'd definitely try both if I'm ever down that way!
Love you guys! Come to Houston one of these days!
They both look yummy. Best southern chicken I’ve had was Bojangles so far. 👍🏻
Tried Gus's in Burbank today and it was pretty good.
Great shootout!
Cannot wait to try both places some day.
Both look great.
Enjoy Birmingham and safe travels.
Thanks Yvonne! Gus’s should open up a restaurant in Vegas!
I haven’t had either, but Gus’s looks more appetizing! Though I am sure they are both good!
I agree

There is a Gus’s in Long Beach , Ca . I’ve seen it but never tried. I’ll need to try it. Tried Hattie B’s in Nashville and in Vegas.

@@peacekelly1128 Gus's has four locations in the greater Los Angeles area - Los Angeles, Burbank, Long Beach, and Santa Ana.

The one time I visited Gus’ my chicken was over fried. I’m glad yours was juicy
I 💗 fried chicken 🍗 great shootout review!
Wow, that looks so good. I absolutely love fried chicken. Wished I was trying it with you two.
You would love these two places, Tanya!
Oh that chicken looked delicious but I’m with Bill - the banana pudding with nilla wafers - yum!!!
Let’s get it on by Marvin Gaye has now got to be your intro theme song!
What happened to the xylophone music at the beginning of your videos?
Old version of iMovie, went away with the update.
Guys if you are in Birmingham you aren't that far from Destin, FL. You should go check it out!!!!

Memphis also has both.
Im so hungry now ... just watching..worse part its kinda late and no place to order chicken!!!🤣🤣
I did the shut the cluck up level at hattie bs. It wasn’t hot on the way down, but on the way out for the next 3 days was another story!
LOL!! Sounds painful!
I wonder if they brine the chicken at Gus’s? I think Jollibee might as their chicken tastes like a richer taste of chicken. Good shootout. 👍
Can't get much more Southern than deep fried green tomatoes!
Hi Bill and Lisa hope you guys are having so much fun in Alabama. Can you please do a shout out on your next video for my husband Luis Antunez his birthday is tomorrow. Thank you stay safe and healthy! ❤️
I'm not a fried chicken fan but my husband is and he loved this video.....yummy
Very nice shootout. They both looked good and Thanks for your info. Take care.
Not sure if you guys know but we have a Gus’s Fried Chicken here in Long Beach, CA.
Been there! ua-cam.com/video/77B3wXDVTw4/v-deo.html

Now I want fried chicken!!😋 Have fun guys😊
Would you say Gus's is better than Willie Mae's in NOLA?? I love watching your videos!!
Willie Mae’s is one of our favorites of all time.
Yes please! I love a good fried chicken. And a good Mac n cheese! Delicious
Went to Hattie B’s in Tennessee February 2020. I was under the impression it was originally from Nashville TN, not AL.
Your impression was correct, First location for Hattie B's opened in Midtown Nashville in 2012.
Just looking at the video Gus’s chicken looks so much more crispy and juicy and you could tell that it was going to just taste delicious and their Mac & cheese just looks so creamy and rich.I think I might have to take a trip and definitely try this fried chicken.
Gus’s knows fried chicken for sure!
You guys are so cute! You make me smile! 😁

No, there are several locations. Check out their website for one near you.
Are you guys in Alabama eating the chicken?

Looks like I know what to have for dinner.. Fried Chicken! Wishing I was in Alabama tho.. Yummy!
Fried chicken ?? Yassss!!
You can go join the class after eating . The food looks good . You going to eat your cornbread from life movie with Edie Murphy.
I'm trying to locate a video that I watched of you folks the other day of you at Main Street hotel in Vegas. Did it get deleted? Anyway just wanted to see if for sure Main Street hotel buffet is open
It’s still up to watch. Main Street buffet is not open yet.
@@billandlisa thank you! Big Fan of the chanel!
My office is behind the civic center and have never eaten at either place. You guys were so close i could have met yall for lunch.
Gus’s is much better to me too. Hattie B’s skin is good but the meat is bland no flavor whatsoever
Ok, never watch while hungry...need you guys to FedEx us some banana pudding and Gus's fried chicken pronto
The First Spot to me is much better with those fried green tomatoes 🍅
So good. Can't wait to go .
