@@Bobsheaux It's not that you can't enjoy the support we're giving you, it's just that setting up a donation for it is the equivalent of taking someone else's bushel of roses, and giving them to your girlfriend, claiming them as your own.
@@Green-Raccoon777 Right, because that's what the point behind the video shout-outs, postcards, souvenirs, and all the other rewards we're handing out. I'm not using them as a way of saying "Thank you for making this happen," but "I pulled this off all on my own!"
Homeward Bound. Although, granted, it's two male dogs and a female cat, so that would be a weird romance on any level. Funny how it's the stories with animal protagonists that don't follow the trope.
thirteenfury Also, from what is mentioned here, it's animal protagonists of different species. Like dogs and a cat, and two different types of fish that can't interbreed. That's actually kind of sad.
Dawn Darrell Samaitha It is sad, but at the same time it proves characters of different races/species can get along rather than the usual Us vs. Them rivalry.
thirteenfury That's a really positive way of looking at things, and I agree, it's a good thing to portray in movies. But it'll still be nice to have two characters of different gender just going on adventures as friends, or as a team.
And this is the wolf mating ritual. They sing 90's porn music together with their howls. If the male cannot sing 90's porn music then the female cannot feel arousal for him.
+Ditto, Master of Disguise More like 80's pop music, honestly. lol I actually have a theory about that. What if, back in the 80s, some teen(s) visiting Jasper National Park left behind a Sony Walkman with some 80's era pop songs on it, which the wolves listened to and ended up thinking it was hot, so they began singing the songs. Because of that, it eventually got into their mating rituals to be able to sing parts of those songs from that Sony Walkman they found, hence creating the whole point of the story.
I wish the movie was about lily struggling to break out of her shell and find her place a wolf, then when Kate goes missing they show Lilly and Garth bounding more and more. Then once Kate comes back and has to marry Garth, lily is heartbroken but knows it's for the best of the pack. Then at the wedding it's Garth who rejects Kate and goes to lily, then the stampede happens and instead of Kate getting hit lily gets hit and Garth saves her in an act of love. That's just a thought :/
I imagine a parallel universe where Garth and Lily's relationship was the main focus of the movie, and Lily plush dolls were a hot item for the 2010 holiday shopping season.
So, Garth doesn't know how to howl, and this kills the birds. A power they could have used to feed wolves during the famine. But then sweet adorable Lilly teaches him how to howl and it brings the birds back to life, and they release what they could have eaten.
@Nick Gurr Except that doesn't excuse the issue when they aren't afraid to say that the wolves do eat other animals. (Like they're supposed to because they're carnivores.)
What if the sequels to this movie are so crappy, because there's a secret message that an alpha getting together with an omega will result in the worse offspring imaginable, and the balance of whatever weird universe this is set in is slowly being destroyed?
Will, Winston will be like “I told you an alpha mating with an omega is bad! Aaaaaagggghhhh!!!!” and Tony’s like “Agghhh, the universe is falling apart!!!”
There is one thing that I will give this movie credit for: they could've *so easily* made Garth a stereotypical meathead that just exists as a romantic obstacle between Kate and Humpfrey. But they didn't. They actually gave him his own arc, and made him a very virtuous guy. And you know what: kudos to that.
It looks like they've gotten so uncreative that they are just making another version of the first movie. Gosh, what's next? And as you said, none of these movies are very inspired films.
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this. Alphas - Mostly brown, tan, and red fur Omegas - Mostly black, grey, and white. Anyone think the animators have a problem with grey wolves?
Why are side romances so much better than the main ones?! Can't we get something unique like Kate never falling in love with Garth and when she tires to go back to humphrey she's realizes he's already with Lily?
Alpha and Omega 1 isn't a _bad_ movie. It just sort of sits there, doing nothing terrible but not doing anything original either. Mindless fluff to throw on for the kiddies while you're busy working at home. "So Okay that It's Average," if you will. The sequels, on the other hand, are fucking hellacious.
Yeah, I feel the same way. I think I'm a bit more positive about it though, partially because I love wolves (big shock there) and I really like the scenes of conflict between the two packs.
i actually loved the first movie, yeah there was some awkward scenes that made me feel uncomfortable, but aside from that i will always love the first.
ScreamingAnthrax u serious ? Damn yall so sensitive that will go right over kids heads they will have no clue it’s a funny joke and face facts it’s the circle of life everyone fucks
Attractive guy, seems nice, handsome, is an alpha in high standing, and getting with him is what the safety of both of your pack hinges on. Got it. Wait, what? He can't sing that well? Well fuck THAT, then! Total. Dealbreaker.
But wasn't it revealed that the whole Alpha/Beta/Omega concept only applied to wolves in captivity? And that wolves in packs in the wild are actually composed of mated pairs and their offspring until some of the offspring leave to form their own pack?
+Addy Dy Pretty much, yeah. There is a form of Alpha/Beta hierarchy in nature too, but it's actually the parents of the family that are the alphas, while their children are betas, omegas, etc.
Wolves don't have too strict of a class system, since they all have to treat each other fairly to work together as a pack. They do fight sometimes, but not often. The idea of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas came from captive wolves, who were from DIFFERENT packs and DIDN'T need to work together for food.
Yeah, except there usually is a pair of dominant wolves but most of the time they are just the parents of the pack. The runt of the newest litter also could be considered an omega.
Sorry wolfaboos, but if you ask me. the romance between these main characters feels really forced. There's hardly anything romantic about it because all their scenarios were ones where they HAD to interact.
+Bobsheaux Honestly, I agree with that sentiment. I would be happier if Lily and Garth got a spin-off sequel where their full character arc potential is realized instead of glossed over for some forced Humphrey and Kate interactions.
@@jamieandpayton7975 Your response to someone saying the romance is forced is telling them to watch a different movie? That doesn't disprove their point.
You missed an opportunity to open this video with the perfect literary quote: "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life, freely." - Revelation 21:6
From what I've seen in this review: I love Garth and Lily's relationship, and I really love Lily. XD The rest of the movie though...yeah, it's pretty forgettable. (And then they had to make all of those horrible sequels...)
+Dino Gojira Guy Eh, with how progressively worse each sequel gets, it's probably for the best that they stay away from those two. :P (They've been tainted enough as it is...)
AuroraKnux yea, I see what you mean it's been a while since ive seen these movies and I have gotten a lot more mature since my weird A&O phase, and now that I think about it, thats the only part that I honestly like about the movie, and I don't want it being destroyed by a crappy sequel
Dark Zombi Productions me too... i grew up with this movie back in mi childhood, of course when you grow up you find all the cliche stuff but still remember this movie with love... I always gonna love this movie no matter how old I am...
Dennis hopper was a famous actor back in the 50s through 2010 He was on such films like rebel without a cause, giant, easy rider, cool hand Luke, apalyspe now, and He was famous for mean villian, frank booth from David Lynch's blue velvet, Yes, I also know he was on super Mario brothers in 1993 and other stuff And this movie, yeah, it is his last before his death in 2010. Yikes
I included a screenshot of an online petition to get a Lilly & Garth movie made. I'm so sad I that I didn't get a chance to sign it before it closed! :(
19:07 Humphrey: "Kate... come on wake, up! We gotta to go home!" Tony: "What have you done..." Humphrey: "I didn't mean for it to happen, it was an accident!" Tony: "Of course you didn't mean it, we all make mistakes.... But the alpha is dead."
the alpha's and omega's are picked by who is born first, first few wolves born is the alpha, last ones are omega the ones in the middle are the beta wolves. and all the wolves hunt together
patha orion Humphrey and Kates kids Clawdet was first born, then Stinky was born, there both alphas, Stinky being the future leader of the pack after Humphrey and Kate die, then Runt was born and he's an omega .-.
well the first born male is the main leader with the second born (male or female, or first born female) as the second alpha. Runt should have been placed as a beta and the next litter of pups would be betas and omegas.
I remember I used to love this movie when it first came out, and I almost brought it to school with me so I could beg the teacher to put it on for the class 🙄 Now I see everything wrong with it and the sequels are atrocious.
+goldblaze93 Replace those mehs with bad/awful. Replace bad with KILL IT WITH FIRE and switch KILL IT WITH FIRE with 'NUKE IT FROM THE COAST! Then double tap.'
My mind's changed over the year. First movie: Meh. Second movie: bad. Third movie: bad. Fourth movie: bad. Fifth movie: bad. Sixth movie: KILL IT WITH FIRE! Seventh movie: bad.
Personally, I loved this movie because I like stories about anthropomorphic romance, but the three movies after it were awful in comparison. The animation was off, half the time the animation looked like a video game cutscene, the names of the pups sounded like there was no thought involved, and there just didn't seem to be enough character development in those three movies. The first was definitely a good story plot, but I can see the continuity errors that you mentioned.
13:12 This is something I really like about you, Bobsheaux. Most reviewers of mediocre/bad movies or games resign themselves to the idea that there won't be any redeeming part of the medium they're partaking in, and so they don't take anything good away from it. You, on the other hand, take note of when something genuinely nice or enjoyable happens, which you can take away as the good part. My cousin and I are also like that; when we watch a lousy movie, we continue to repeat the one good joke it left us with.
What makes Humphrey's relationship with Kate less likeable than Lilly and Garth's is because he sometimes seems a little...disturbing. Drooling on her and letting her touch his saliva while both are tranquilized feels disturbingly sexual and unacceptable. If Winston found out, Humphrey would be immediately ostracized.
+Brittany “dinorap1” Burdo It's cheaply made garbage. Notice how the only properly animated fur is on their heads and tails. The rest is just a crappy texture. Words can't describe how much I hate this franchise.
+Azariachan Actually, in the later movies, it might be a texture, but here it's still a particle effect. You can tell by the little wisps of hair when seen from the side. It's a lot more obvious with Kung Fu Panda: you can see the hairs in the movies, but on the show they're clearly smoother. This movie looks more expensive than the sequels, actually. Later on, you can tell the wolves are never actually in the spots they're supposed to be in; they *always* look like they're in front of a green screen. Again, shows like Kung Fu Panda and Penguins of Madagascar have that, too. (King Julian during nighttime shots is especially obvious.) That said, the hair on the head is the only thing with physics on it, that's true. Not sure if it's animated or simulated, though. You can argue that's to save resources, since that is a lot of calculating to do for a detail like body fur.
RaichuWizDom You're right that the first film looks way, WAY better than any of the sequels, but when compared with what is considered industry standard nowadays, it's still pretty sub par.
The only thing that confuses me are the social latters explained in this movie. I love wolves but they got a LOT of this jumbled. True, omegas stop tension with playfulness, but why cant they hunt with the pack? why didn't the omegas unite the packs? And where the hell are the betas? Aside from all that, the designs are okay, the story I heard before and a lot of clichés I've seen over and over, but its a fun movie to watch when you're bored.
I used to be friends with a guy who was pretty much obsessed with wolves. He found this movie in a bargain bin, and would constantly nag for me to watch it with him. I thought it looked like a piece of crap, and felt kind of bad for saying no each time. I'm glad to see I wasn't wrong.
So, since Garth and Lilly's relationship (and Lilly herself) are really the only things in this movie worth remembering, I might end up drawing some inspiration from them for one of my own character couples. ;) (They already have some similarities as it is XD Heck, the shyer one even has a kinda similar "hairstyle" to Lilly, now that I think about it...)
Troin Always Expect the Unexpected. Which includes, but is not limited to: Winged Hussars, the Spanish Inquisition, the Legion of the Damned, Reinforcements, Murphy and His Laws, Prâk Jaws, Krûk Blood-axe, any Uruk from TearsofGrace's Shadow of Mordor series in general, and Catbug... because he is Catbug and can teleport.
I pretty much agree, I liked Humprey as a wolf, but not really so much as a protagonist. I kind of feel the movie would have been a lot better if there were a more definite contrast between the Eastern and Western packs and explaining their situation as far as the relationships between their leaders and the territory goes. The journey that wrapped up Humprey and Kate was sort of a more... forced invisible antagonist in order to push them together... Technically speaking, if you would have selected any two wolves, the same result would have probably occurred--especially after that 'tender' howling on the train. Have you ever howled on a train before? Beats the crap outta howling on dry land, I can tell you that. Great review by the way--you've got the comedy stylings of an omega, but the tenacity of an alpha. Great work X3
Why would they make FOUR of these. It was said "Best Movie" BEST MOVIE MY ASS. Actually my dog can do Parkour! She can jump on the couch and jump off and run up and down my hallway. Makes me wonder Hmm... I feel like the people who made this had the budget of a Twinkie, I saw a lot of animation errors.
Well, I'm pretty sure that every wolf in this movie should be dead from moving their bodies like that. Even someone who has never even been in a science class before should know that a mammal can't move like that.
I think I have a plot for this movie if it featured Lily and Garth. It starts off with Kate and Lily play hunting while the Omegas are doing their own thing, We don’t really focus too much on them except for the fact we learn that Lily and Humphrey are best friends and Lily knows that Humphrey had a crush on her sister Kate. Lily sneaks off to look over the border to find Garth training, Lily likes Garth and finds him quite sweet and attractive and have seen each other every day of their lives, but Lily never had the guts to say hi to him. We cut to Garth training to become the ultimate Alpha with his father, so they can hopefully unite the packs and get Garth to Marry Kate. The fall-spring time skip happens and Kate just came back from Alpha school along with Garth, making Lily and Humphrey quite happy seeing their crushes back. Kate has her first hunt while Lily is watching from above near the other Omegas has she gives advice to Humphrey leading to him coming out after the failed hunt. After the hunt fails Lily comes out to try comfort her sister, while Humphrey tries to cheer Kate up with some humor. After Lily’s father eats his dinner with his family he meets Tony to talk about Garth and Kates arranged marriage, Lily watches what’s going on and is quite sad but accepts it knowing that she will never know Garth anyway. She would later tell Kate to meet him at the moonlight howl so the famine would hopefully end. The moonlight howl happens(and in this version it would have lyrics instead of just howling) and Kate is soon uninterested in Garth because of his howl/voice, this leads Lily watching what’s going on accidentally running into Garth, it’s an awkward meeting before they get get shot and sent to Idaho. Garth and Lily soon meet The 2 Geese that help them both get home, some schanigains happens with Lily accidentally falls out of the RV trying to catch some air, while Garth tries to help her causing them to lose their ride, and Lily and Garth walk home on foot, meanwhile Humphrey is trying to hit on Kate and they soon get along with each other as Kate learns that Omegas are just as important at being peace keepers, as alphas leading the pack by Humphrey teaching Kate how to let loose and have fun.(moments like these will happen throughout and they mainly serve as a comedic relief showing Kate and Humphrey bonding, leading to their howl). It starts raining and Lily tries to do a rain dance and Garth finds this cute, Lily is soon embarrassed but Garth tells her that he liked it and she did a good job. This leads to the vine scene as they try to help each other get to the other side of the river. They make it out and get some sleep. They wake up in the morning and Garth intends they start hunting, he learns Lily isn’t a good hunter and helps her learn, leading to Lily showing off her turtle impressions that she was always embarrassed about and this makes Garth laugh, they soon lead to the mountains to find the train that will take them back to Jasper. Lily soon plays with a baby bear while Garth tries to warn her about them while not trying to ruin the moment, but then he sees mama bear and her gang finding the baby bear leading to a chase scene, Garth finds the train down the mountain, and they soon start to sled down the mountain the same way Kate and Humphrey did in the original version, they soon sled down the snow into the train. They are on the train as Garth tries to howl, Lily offers to teach him how, and tells him to howl from his heart and then she will join in, this shows Garth slowly learns how to howl as Lily joins in leading to their developing feelings for each other. We would cut back to Kate finding out Humphrey is a good howler and howls along with him as the song keeps going to Lily and Garth, Garth ends up kissing Lily on accident and Lily really wants to tell Garth about her feelings, but they find the 2 fighting packs and Garth tells his father what happened while Lily tells her family what happened, Tony is thrilled that Garth is back and tells him to start the wedding with Kate, leading to Garth and Kate agreeing to start and leading Humphrey and Lily devastated. That morning Humphrey tells Lily that he is leaving to go travel and look for his own pack, leaving Lily devastated knowing that she will lose everything after her best friend leaves, but Garth soon tries to comfort her but is called back by his pack to prepare for the wedding, and apologizes to Lily. Lily finally tells Garth that she loves him. Garth feels really bad but tells her with a sigh, see you at the wedding, bye.. The wedding happens and at the final part of the ceremony Garth tells Kate that they can’t get married because he is in love with an Omega, Kate understands and admits her feelings too. Leading to Tony being disappointed in his son and telling his pack to attack leading to the war. Humphrey sees the fighting and comes back to get Kate to safety. A storm starts leading to a mudslide Lily and Garth and are stuck in the middle of it with the other wolves. Kate tells Lily and Garth that there is ledges along the cliff that can help save the other wolves. Lily finds a sled that she can use to help save the other wolves and get them to safety. She ends up saving the wolves and brings them to the ledges where they run back to their packs while Lily finds Garth and gets him on the sled. Everything seems to be going smoothly until they hit a rock near the ledge leading Lily to fall off, Garth goes in and saves her while the parent wolves watch, they agree to team up to help save Garth and Lily. Lily wakes up from almost drowning in the mud, but with an injury. The day is saved and Garth checks on Lily to see is she is ok, he later learns that she has a broken paw from the pressure of the mudslide. Lily is deemed as a hero and the parents realizing their love for each other come to fair terms and allow Kate and Humphrey to get together and Lily and Garth to get together, leading to Garth telling Lily that he loves her too. This leads to the final moonlight howl as we see everybody singing Bring on Tomorrow together, While our main 2 couples howl along on top of the mountain, as the film ends and the credits roll.
Fun fact: In my country, the dubbers decided to change Humphrey and Kate's names to Romeo and Juliet due to the parallels to that story, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately for them, they could not have predicted the sequels the movie would receive, so from the second movie onwards they are just refered to as Humphrey and Kate.
That must have been so confusing for the unknowing watcher. Just one movie being like: woo romeo and juliet are gret cherectars. The next movie be like: wait who the fuck are kate and humphrey what movie is this a sequel to this is bullshit
Oh, yeah, when I was a kid, I always thought this movie was really based on Romeo and Juliet story and it was kinda cool. Now, I just feel disappointed.
+Master Inkling not really i enjoy this movie and i am not a furry the sequels make me love it more if you could even call them sequles nothing changes just the animation that is shit
In fairness, I know as a kid we used to slide down a hill on cardboard boxes during the summer xD So it is kinda possible to sled without snow...? But still not at astonishingly high speeds :P Still I think this is a fair review :D It's certainly not the worst movie ever made ^-^ Love these videos :D
I was talking about the movies themselves. I have friends that adore these movies and they've been trying to get me to watch them -_- . I'll never know why. I'll keep watching if you keep making them. :P
One of the biggest problems about that movie is that Humphrey clearly understands that he is an Omega and must "stay with his kind", but he gets away with doing some rather "questionable" things with Kate despite the fact that he knows the rules and possible penalties.

I remember being a 9 year old watching this with my grandpapa, since it was the only thing we could watch for free at the time. He was trying his best to keep an open mind and just enjoy the film with me no matter how bad it was, because he enjoyed just hanging out with me. And I enjoyed Hanging Out with him, but I just vividly remember the second hand embarrassment I got from the film lol. His favorite character was Garth, and when the movie ended and he brought me home he started imitating Garth’s howl and laughing. It felt cringey at the time but looking back it was very sweet
You know, in one of the sequels, I think it was the family vacation one, Patty tells Humphrey and Kate that the librarian’s husband left her. Thus, further driving home my point that the sequels aren’t really happening and it all takes place in Humphrey’s imagination after Kate’s tragic death. This is why the pups never grow up and have horrible/nonsensical names. This is also why so many references are made to the human world, as it is based off what Humphrey sees in his travels after Kate’s death. Just a little cartoon conspiracy theory I’ve been coming up with.
I really wonder how copyright doesn't knock this away. Do you have permission? I say this because I'm going to do my own review on this soon but I am a little afraid to publish it.
+Paul Rafanan Fair Use allows for copyrighted material to use in this manner (whether Lions Gate likes it or not). I'll often get flagged for "copyright infringement" by the UA-cam bots, but I know how to fight against it.
Fair Use laws, yes. And because you give meaningful commentary on it instead of just watching it like a react video, it is transformed and therefore not copyright
For the romance between Kate and Humphrey, I agree that it's a little forced but to be honest I like it. I mean they support each other, when one of them is in danger the other will rush to help without second thought, and what's really sweet is despite his um... Excitement over the repopulating idea, Humphrey still helps Kate get home. Is it better than Titanic? No. Is it better than Twilight? Oh yeah.
This movie is so bad...the animation is terrible...and the designs are terrible...and I watch it when I am depressed because it makes me laugh so I guess it is good for something. Fun review man, keep it up!
I recall a very edgy line from kate's mother (a slightly overweight blonde wolf) about biting someone in the throat until it stops moving and i am very surprised it is even allowed to be in a kids movie!
It most likely was more so each pack was guaranteed power. Like the East have Garth and the West have Kate. They wanted both packs United but still have equal power as opposed to Kate's pack having the entire power over the new United pack. Then any future pups would already be a symbol of the joint power and be raised as such, like how many royal weddings work to keep the power and political strings.
and you know what? i didn't spot the "poorly made animation" because i didn't seek for it. I know this is a low cost movie, but this movie is great, and remember it have been made for kids, i watched this at 8 years old. and when you watch it as young, no matter how old are you, you will love it. while you reviewed it 5 years after the release. it have a great start, a great middle and a fantastic end. Ive been watching this when i was 8, in 2010, i am a little bit more mature now, age of 13, still love this movie no matter how childish it will be. since its a CHILDREN MOVIE, this doesn't need to be about physics, or so funny jokes you are talking about. and actually, the animation in this movie is better than all of the TV shows right now and this was actually good for a movie back at the time. Well, so you shut up, you are what, 30? you should let a kid to rate this video, not you.
War Games At the ripe old age of 13, I can see that you have vast knowledge about the evolution of animation styles, screenwriting and comedy. Of course, you are the *expert.* You presented yourself so maturely, especially with that "shut up" comment. You are truly great at debate. The movie was good for a 2010 animated movie? I beg to differ. How To Train Your Dragon, Tangled, Despicable Me, and Legend Of the Guardians came out in the same year. There is no comparison! As for it being better than all current television shows, that is also not true. Just because you want something to be a fact does not make it a fact. I enjoyed the first movie. My now eleven year old son did NOT. He was unimpressed by it entirely. He says the animation was NOT better than other movies that came out at the time and the story was boring. So, there you have a kid that rated this movie. Bobsheaux did not hate the first movie. If you actually WATCHED the review you're criticizing, you would have seen that he thought it was okay, just a bit predictable. And he really enjoyed the music. Finally, you don't have to share the opinions of others, but you really should respect the fact that other people have opinions! You don't agree with this review? Fine...neither did I. But I'm not making an ass of myself on someone else's UA-cam channel because of it!
Raven Fox Audio And how much budget were spent on these? all i said, that its nicer than most of the animation movies and TV shows, I didn't look for the animation problems in any of the Alpha and Omega movies. you cant compare low budget movie to the legend of guardians which is i believe the best animation i have ever seen visually. I don't think he is an expert too, he swears most of the time, and i don't think he is a good reviewer. I never saw a good animated TV show like Alpha and Omega is, i don't say its that good too. I didn't say i am mature, as i said, i am 13 years old, all i said that i am more mature than when i was 8 years old. If he compares pixart movies and the legend of guardians to the first time that a company makes an animation movie and the same movie is low budget one thats not good. For me, the story wasn't boring at all, especially the last scene. I did respect, but i said him to remember thats a kids movie, but he says "bad animation" and modeling and stuff, in the movie they show the nature in all of its glory. in the end, reviewing a 5 years old movie, and then comparing it to high budget movies at the time doesn't make sense, complaining about physics (at the next movies) at a children movie doesn't make sense, and i got more. Bobsheaux Why won't you reply me?
War Games Raven Fox did a sufficiently thorough job in addressing all of your points (as she is one to do), but if an answer from me is absolutely necessary, I shall oblige. Like yourself, I wasn't seeking poor animation. But if I see it, I'll comment on it. That's just what reviewers like myself do. Bad animation is even less excusable when utilizing CGI, since the animators can fine-tune and perfect their performances with FAR greater ease than they could in hand-drawn or stop-motion animation. Also, if your stance on this movie is that it's great and I need to back off, you can't play the "It's a kids movie, so who cares?" card. All we can do is agree to disagree on our respective definitions of "great", but if you're opinion is that this movie IS great, you can't brush off the bad physics on display just because of its intended juvenile audience. If anything, your appreciation for the story should mean that you're holding this movie to an even HIGHER standard. You should be thinking along the lines of "Man, I wish this movie had better animation to compliment the amazing story..." (It also doesn't help your cause to say that it's better than a lot of animated movies/TV shows of the day, then just dismiss far superior examples just because of their higher budgets. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a FAR greater technical achievement than Alpha & Omega, and it cost $2mil LESS to produce. Good animation knows no budget.) As Raven pointed out, children HAVE reviewed this movie before, and they weren't always as positive in their opinions as you are. Are you honestly going to tell me that you just shut up and enjoyed EVERY movie that you've seen when you were a kid? "he swears most of the time" I gotta say, that's a new one. lol If you think I swear most of the time, I strongly urge you to leave the internet while you still can before the amount of profanity coming from OTHER reviewers makes your head explode! lol If it doesn't make sense for me to review a movie that's already 5 years old since that somehow makes the movie impervious to legitimate points of criticism, then does it REALLY make sense to complain about my reviewing it? What harm am I doing to this nigh untouchable cinematic achievement?
I guess the caste system works this way: -If a wolf family consist of at least 1 alpha, then their first born son and daughter will both be alphas (since both Stinky and Claudette are alphas). Any siblings of the same gender born after (Lily, Runt) will be omegas. If two omega are together, then their children are also omegas.

Right, because that's what the point behind the video shout-outs, postcards, souvenirs, and all the other rewards we're handing out. I'm not using them as a way of saying "Thank you for making this happen," but "I pulled this off all on my own!"
How many movies have a male-female pair go on a journey that don't have them fall in love at the end? The only one I can think of is Finding Nemo.

How to truly appreciate Alpha and Omega: Watch every sequel in order and weep as it all falls into the abyss. Then watch the original.

Umm Yeah I did that I couldn't find the first movie :( until I got netflix yet I still cryed when Kate almost died
Hah
+Steve Kovoc so in other words, Peter Quill caused a group of wolves to evolve at a rapid pace by playing his awesome mix.
I'm fine with that.
The G-Wing LOL Pretty much... lol
Dat profile pic is hilarious
I wish the movie was about lily struggling to break out of her shell and find her place a wolf, then when Kate goes missing they show Lilly and Garth bounding more and more. Then once Kate comes back and has to marry Garth, lily is heartbroken but knows it's for the best of the pack. Then at the wedding it's Garth who rejects Kate and goes to lily, then the stampede happens and instead of Kate getting hit lily gets hit and Garth saves her in an act of love.
That's just a thought :/
Or better yet, NOBODY gets trampled in the stampede because Garth brought so much out of Lilly that SHE ends up saving the day! ;D
Bobsheaux true! Wow I didn't even think of that XD
Penguin love 594 i love that, that would've made the already great movie....perfect.
Bobsheaux , THE THEME OF THE MOVIE: giggity, giggity, giggity, giggity, lets have sex!
Bobsheaux once again, that’s a much better plot than the original movie that came to be!
I imagine a parallel universe where Garth and Lily's relationship was the main focus of the movie, and Lily plush dolls were a hot item for the 2010 holiday shopping season.
I wanna live in that universe
So much better
I'd buy one.
If only... lol
+Ferris Welker Are there really Lily plush dolls?
So, Garth doesn't know how to howl, and this kills the birds. A power they could have used to feed wolves during the famine. But then sweet adorable Lilly teaches him how to howl and it brings the birds back to life, and they release what they could have eaten.
Whoops... lol
Omg I never thought of that. You're right though. That makes no sense..
@Nick Gurr If you saw this as a kid you had one sad set of entertainment
@Nick Gurr That doesn't give it a free pass.
@Nick Gurr Except that doesn't excuse the issue when they aren't afraid to say that the wolves do eat other animals. (Like they're supposed to because they're carnivores.)
What if the sequels to this movie are so crappy, because there's a secret message that an alpha getting together with an omega will result in the worse offspring imaginable, and the balance of whatever weird universe this is set in is slowly being destroyed?
....Holy shit... Winston was RIGHT!!!! O_O

I agree. Why wasn't she the main character?
If you ask me, why do people want a movie on lily and Garth?
There is one thing that I will give this movie credit for: they could've *so easily* made Garth a stereotypical meathead that just exists as a romantic obstacle between Kate and Humpfrey. But they didn't. They actually gave him his own arc, and made him a very virtuous guy. And you know what: kudos to that.
When side characters' story is better than the actual movie.
I like this movie, but Garth and Lily's subplot should have been the main story while Kate and Humphrey's story should have been the subplot.

I can agree to that, although we need more Garth and Lilly.
Why are side romances so much better than the main ones?!

No way! Lilly doesn't deserve to be saddled with the likes of him! lol
If Lilly ended up falling in love with that stupid joke of an omega,
I might just throw the authors out of the window
Alpha and Omega 1 isn't a _bad_ movie. It just sort of sits there, doing nothing terrible but not doing anything original either. Mindless fluff to throw on for the kiddies while you're busy working at home. "So Okay that It's Average," if you will.
The sequels, on the other hand, are fucking hellacious.
Yeah, I feel the same way. I think I'm a bit more positive about it though, partially because I love wolves (big shock there) and I really like the scenes of conflict between the two packs.
I hate this movie I want to see someone destroy this movie.
The sequels have to be placed in the path of doomguy
This movie is nostalgic because I watched this as a kid, but not the sequels. The movie is fine but the sequels can burn in a dumpster fire.
i actually loved the first movie, yeah there was some awkward scenes that made me feel uncomfortable, but aside from that i will always love the first.
I'm not the only one who realized Kate's dad almost said, 'Humphrey, Alpha's and Omega's can't mate'? And cut himself off before he could say 'Mate',

So, from what I'm gathering here the Alphas are the kings and queens while the Omegas are the court jesters.
And the betas are the serfs? Or the knights?
Too many chiefs, not enough indians.
after seeing the sequels this movie looks like gold
Attractive guy, seems nice, handsome, is an alpha in high standing, and getting with him is what the safety of both of your pack hinges on. Got it.
Wait, what? He can't sing that well? Well fuck THAT, then! Total. Dealbreaker.
That's some beautifully valid wolf logic right there!
It's like you find a great guy, great hair, loves most things you like and great body...but then see a 4 in. dick and he lasts 1 minute in bed.
Ryan Zimmermann Female canines are called bitches for a reason.

This really should have just been a story about Garth and Lily. It wouMD have been much more enjoyable.
I liked this movie, by the way.
Yeah, except there usually is a pair of dominant wolves but most of the time they are just the parents of the pack. The runt of the newest litter also could be considered an omega.
Urgh, I just noticed how horribly awkward the wolves look when they stand on their hind legs.
I also agree on the soundtrack and I prefer to see Garth and Lilly spending time more.
It would be great if Garth and Lilly got their own movie spin-off instead of the very shitty sequels we currently have.
Sorry wolfaboos, but if you ask me. the romance between these main characters feels really forced. There's hardly anything romantic about it because all their scenarios were ones where they HAD to interact.
+Criminally Nerdy Lily and Garth, on the other hand... WAAAAYYYYY more satisfying. :)
+Bobsheaux Honestly, I agree with that sentiment. I would be happier if Lily and Garth got a spin-off sequel where their full character arc potential is realized instead of glossed over for some forced Humphrey and Kate interactions.
Well if you wanted a ACTUAL romantic movie, a kids movie is not the way to go. No hate

What everyone can agree on?
Garth and Lily should have been the main characters, and THEIR kids should have been the focus of the sequels.
The soundtrack to this movie managed to be totally epic just using "Oh."
+Lee Thompson-Kolar I pride myself on being fair. I'm sorry that's such a rare thing these days. :(
Bobsheaux true. (I love your reviews. :3)
It bothers me how human these wolves look... why did they have to give them that stupid hair?
Oh well. This movie sucks anyways.
HyperNova Gaming Because it's easier to show emotion?
+Brittany “dinorap1” Burdo i don't mind the hair some characters are bearable like kate
(King Julian during nighttime shots is especially obvious.)
That said, the hair on the head is the only thing with physics on it, that's true. Not sure if it's animated or simulated, though. You can argue that's to save resources, since that is a lot of calculating to do for a detail like body fur.
RaichuWizDom
You're right that the first film looks way, WAY better than any of the sequels, but when compared with what is considered industry standard nowadays, it's still pretty sub par.
As a kid I was amazed by this movie.
Then I grew up.
The guy who you're talking about sounds like someone who plays Space Wolves and is just as obsessed with wolves as them.
Niobesnuppa same thing but it's a girl
So, since Garth and Lilly's relationship (and Lilly herself) are really the only things in this movie worth remembering, I might end up drawing some inspiration from them for one of my own character couples. ;) (They already have some similarities as it is XD Heck, the shyer one even has a kinda similar "hairstyle" to Lilly, now that I think about it...)

Wait, you didn’t show any clips of Kate and Lily’s mom? What a crime. Her actress clearly loved her role and is hamming it up in every scene she’s in.

Those names would've worked better for Lily and Garth
....WAITTTTT! THIS movie could make the wolves adolescent! ARGH! MAKE THE PUPS GROW UP, DID THEY SEE A HO-OH OR SOMETHING?!
Wait a Pokemon joke yes I can make a Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
That doesn't appear to be a sentence.
I see what you did there... ;)
13:25 That IdubbbzTV impression tho
Heeeeey that's pretty good!
What are you fucking gay?
kabob 007 no, he just has crippling depression
I never saw Turkey Tom talk about him.
Yes yes yeeeees I’m the not the first person to notice that!
This whole movie is a furry's wet dream
+Master Inkling Would you believe even most furries shun this movie? lol
Bobsheaux
Prolly because of it's anatomy errors
That bad?
The series is for furries who don't give a crap if its bad
+Master Inkling not really i enjoy this movie and i am not a furry the sequels make me love it more if you could even call them sequles nothing changes just the animation that is shit
In fairness, I know as a kid we used to slide down a hill on cardboard boxes during the summer xD So it is kinda possible to sled without snow...? But still not at astonishingly high speeds :P
Still I think this is a fair review :D It's certainly not the worst movie ever made ^-^ Love these videos :D
"Hey Winston, guess what? Bob-omb!"
Lily and Garth are the only thing I like about this movie.
8:10
Oh don't worry, that's just eggman. That fat sneak.
I remember watching this when I was 8, and I said that this was a movie for those weird people who obsess over wolves. Which it is.
+TheEpicalCookie wolves are my favorite animal, not retarded anthropomorphic monstrosities that howl by singing off key! fuck this movie!
+John Doe Exactly
+John Doe Wolves are rather beautiful animals. Just the nutcase furries are really frustrating.
That's true, this movie killed my brain cells
Youre ten why are u here
Your reviews of the sequels may or may not make me appreciate this one more. I have yet to see any of them.
You've yet to see my reviews, or the movies themselves? Either way, this movie looks BRILLIANT compared to the sequels!

Lily was the only saving grace of this abomination of a franchise
I remember being a 9 year old watching this with my grandpapa, since it was the only thing we could watch for free at the time. He was trying his best to keep an open mind and just enjoy the film with me no matter how bad it was, because he enjoyed just hanging out with me. And I enjoyed Hanging Out with him, but I just vividly remember the second hand embarrassment I got from the film lol. His favorite character was Garth, and when the movie ended and he brought me home he started imitating Garth’s howl and laughing. It felt cringey at the time but looking back it was very sweet
Given that Hayden Panettiere and Chris Carmack are now on "Nashville," I wonder if anyone on set has ever brought up this movie around them?
I noticed that as well.
If Mufasa had learned parkour too, he would have survived🙂
Oh gosh, I love when you talk about Lilly :')
KateTheAlpha98 She's just too cute! lol
Yeah Lily's a cute wolf
+Bobsheaux when you talk I can't tell if you mean cute as in AWWWWW
or cute as in your a "hot"
im kinda confused
+DINO GOJIRA GUY It's strictly "awwwwwwww". lol
+KateTheAlpha98 Oh gosh, I hate it when you talk about Lilly. ':(
You know, in one of the sequels, I think it was the family vacation one, Patty tells Humphrey and Kate that the librarian’s husband left her.
Your theory is a little convoluted but it's better than anything that happens in the sequels.
Se que las secuelas son una miércoles, pero Hombre, no digas eso por favor 😢
This fever dream was real.
"how do you spend any time with Lilly and not fall in love with her"
im introduced to her through your review, and yup, i love her
I showed a friend of mine your review and now he's in love with Lily. lol
I’m back here because mr Nostalgia critic reviewed this movie.
He asked a question to be better educated.
SSEmery we dont need haters like you here.
Fair Use laws, yes. And because you give meaningful commentary on it instead of just watching it like a react video, it is transformed and therefore not copyright
@@neru1584 Did they delete there comment
to think I was at Nostalgia Critic's review and Bobsheaux did these better
but the best review is from Dumbsville.
Oh yeah.
It's great except for whenever Humphrey acted like a creep towards Kate. Drooling on her and letting her touch it in a violation of physics is one.
16:30-45 I just figured out what this represents Bob, and you……… ARE A GENIUS!!! 🤣
This movie is so bad...the animation is terrible...and the designs are terrible...and I watch it when I am depressed because it makes me laugh so I guess it is good for something. Fun review man, keep it up!
And they're only gonna get WORSE...
I recall a very edgy line from kate's mother (a slightly overweight blonde wolf) about biting someone in the throat until it stops moving and i am very surprised it is even allowed to be in a kids movie!
Verdad que si 😅
This movie was my life as a child. I realize now how cringey and bad it is, but it'll always have a special place in my heart.
En el mío también
Apparently the train drivers can't head two large wolves loudly howling through an open door of one of their carts.
I think Garth and Kate had to be mates to unite the pack because if they had pups they'd probably make stronger pups, which would benefit the packs.
Props to this movie for making the girl the alpha instead of the boy.
Is anyone not aware that This is Dennis Hopper’s last film?
Technically, it was.
I actually like this movie if only because the howling sessions sounds AMAZING
"I've fallen and I can't get up! YEAH!!!" - Poor Turtle
+ShivuTheWolf Hey, thanks. It's nice knowing that a wolf can watch these reviews and not HATE me because of them. lol
***** just no
and you know what? i didn't spot the "poorly made animation" because i didn't seek for it.
Good animation knows no budget.)
As Raven pointed out, children HAVE reviewed this movie before, and they weren't always as positive in their opinions as you are. Are you honestly going to tell me that you just shut up and enjoyed EVERY movie that you've seen when you were a kid?
"he swears most of the time"
I gotta say, that's a new one. lol If you think I swear most of the time, I strongly urge you to leave the internet while you still can before the amount of profanity coming from OTHER reviewers makes your head explode! lol
If it doesn't make sense for me to review a movie that's already 5 years old since that somehow makes the movie impervious to legitimate points of criticism, then does it REALLY make sense to complain about my reviewing it? What harm am I doing to this nigh untouchable cinematic achievement?
Yeah, at first I thought these movies were OK. But the second one killed it. Killed it dead. And I'm a huge wolf fanatic.
+Folan Wolf Good to FINALLY see a wolf holding this franchise to higher standards. lol
This kind-of-okay movie did NOT need a bunch of stupid sequels.
19:13 Cue the Lion King music.
Uh, which movie and which song?
*facepalm*
ISN'T IT FREAKING OBVIOUS?!
+Swag Feather Yeah, my bad. Though, I don't think that it would fit in this particular scene.
RespectedSalmon sorry for yelling.
+Swag Feather It's alright. FilmmakeroftheFuture may have edited the comment after I posted the reply.
Honestly, One of the Wolves named Hutch looks like He should be part of the Kiss Band to me
I guess the caste system works this way:
-If a wolf family consist of at least 1 alpha, then their first born son and daughter will both be alphas (since both Stinky and Claudette are alphas). Any siblings of the same gender born after (Lily, Runt) will be omegas. If two omega are together, then their children are also omegas.
