Drew, hang in there - you are a great guy with a terrific channel. Anytime you deal with the public, you'll get the complete spectrum of personalities: some will love you and others hate. Pity that social media can bring out some of the worst among us. I'm a retiree and spend my summers much like you, camping in my pickup truck, fishing great streams Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. On my best day, if I could be half the fisherman you are I'd be mighty proud. I hope you have a great 2025 summer planned and I look forward to enjoying new videos on your channel.

Your videos are just fine the way they are. I can understand the comments some people leave get under your skin. They are missing some of the experience which is the process of discovery. Learning how to research where a good stream might be. Keep enjoying what you do, it shows.

Don't let the social media hate hook u. Your video's are fantastic. I'm 69 years old and have fished a lot of rivers and creeks in the West. I've also enjoyed your White River video. Every time I watch your video's, it feels like I'm still your age and catching fish every other cast.

I’ve been a fan of yours since you started your channel and I’ve stated before how much I appreciate you not telling where you’re fishing. In PA where I do most of my fishing, there are a lot more fishermen and I have seen wild trout streams destroyed because of UA-camrs stating what streams they are fishing. They argue that the streams are public knowledge and anyone can look them up and find them anyway. But very few people will spend the time and effort to do that. They would rather have it handed to them on UA-cam. So thanks again , Drew for what you do. I’ve been fly fishing for 63 years and I still have learned a lot from your videos. God bless.

You know, I appreciate that you take the time to put up these videos. I learn a lot from watching them, and that helps me ON THE STREAMS I FIND MYSELF!! I told my wife years ago, social media will expose all the dummies, and I sincerely mean that, and it has. Thanks for posting those comments, it is really amazing how petty and small some people can be. They are exactly why we fishermen live by the unspoken code. You know what I am talking about as this video is all about it. Take care brother! And Thank you.

I would venture to guess a lot of your viewers are return viewers/subscribers who live in completely different parts of the world that you normally fish (such as myself). It's nice to take in your vids during the cold winter months here in Minnesota, and they get me excited for when the season opens back up. And also motivates me to start planning some trips out west. So keep doing what you're doing and don't mind the fools who either A.) think you're giving up spots (which you're not) or B.) Expect you to hand feed them exact coordinates. Part of the fun - if not the main point of fly fishing - is going out, exploring new creeks and streams and striking out or finding a gem. Shame on people who are too lazy to do that themselves.

I live several thousand miles from these streams and would have trouble walking at the altitude. I could care less the name or exact location of any of these spots. I am happy that you get to fish all these beautiful streams and share the joy with me. The important message should be the way you handle the fish and treat the environment. Many thanks and look forward to more videos.

Great video. Your content is the best out there for this sort of thing...and I absolutely love this content. The amount of talking is just right. Thank you for not sharing the locations. Some people posting fishing videos on you tube are bullshitting themselves into thinking that sharing locations on the internet is a good thing...its not and almost everyone knows that. I am in Bali and love watching from over here.

Another great video Drew. Love your channel and always look forward to new releases. Never mind the stupid comments from lazy folks who want everything given to them. They want the ability to get right off their couch, hop on a plane, and be on the exact stream you've fished - and with the same results no doubt! Thanks for doing what is necessary to keep these folks off the water!

Even if you give exact GPS locations of those spots in the northwest of US, they will not be pressured. In the northwest if an angler sees another one in the 3-mile radius, they call it pressured.
Most of us are watching your channel because we are vicariously fishing those streams. Very few of us have the opportunity to camp a week around those streams. So, you are providing a good thing. Please keep it up.

Drew, I love your approach to this and am so grateful for what you do. you ever think of putting a pole mounted go pro in those clear streams. Like i have golf ball retriever that I attached a go pro too. i can put it about 20 feet out. you could probably just lay it down there and get some cool footage of fish striking from in the water.

Look at a map. Find the big blue line. Find the thin blue line. Find the blue hairline. Go check it out. Simple. Your videos are great. Keep it up. Eff those lazy people who just want to drive up and fish. Half the fun is finding it yourself.

Living the dream. I would love to hear your story, from your 30’s to now and how you got to where you are now traveling and fishing. What you have done for work/career and how you can make it possible to travel. Managing family, bills, etc. Really inspiring. I dream of being able to do what you do with your time. The freedom of adventure and exploring the wild to discover these beautiful streams and campsites and catching the fish that you catch. Heaven on earth. ❤ The comments you refer to are from people that don’t have anything positive to say and don’t belong on the internet, those type of people have some soul searching to do because there is a deeper routed issue that they are not addressing that has to do with their own self. Us YT fans are fortunate to experience the time you have out on the water, it isn’t easy to film and produce videos the way you do. Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work!

Those comments you showed are wild! You're completely in the right, I personally would have loved to know some of the spots you hit in CO, but your video on how you do your research (that you linked to) does an excellent job of helping others follow in your footsteps. If they can't do the minimum, that's on them. And as for the people moaning about spot-burning, you never drop names, and the small water you visit could be anywhere in the west. Even in some of your older videos, where you say you're near Creede, that could be any of 100 small streams in the area. Just much ado about nothing. Your videos are awesome, hope you are doing well!

A lot of humans are just lazy and want something for doing nothing. Good for you! Love your comments back to them. They’re losers in my mind. If they put in some leg work and pour over maps and do some homework they can locate areas like the ones you go to. Maybe not the exact ones. There are alot of great rivers/streams out there. I think that’s half the fun. Finding a gem of a river all by yourself where you see one to me is so satisfying. Almost as good as getting beautiful fish to the net. I can totally relate to your worries....My dad (91 y.o.) fished some streams in Idaho with his brother way back when they were in college...we took family to those locations for decades (my grandma could out fish everybody and made my grandpa really mad)....this next summer I am planning a trip with my grandsons to those same spots...but they're not the same BECAUSE someone's loose lips ruined it..because they swear their friends to secrecy who then tell their friends/secrecy and so on and so forth....STAY STRONG BROTHER, YOU ARE A TREASURE.

Would I like to know some of these streams you fish? I cannot lie, yes! However, I am more grateful that you do not divulge the name of streams. Part of the fun in fishing these locations is doing research and exploring them yourself. I once, many years ago, attended a TU meeting where the speaker talked about fishing high mountain lakes and had images of huge cutthroat and golden trout. I was surprised when he told the audience exactly where he was but commented that people are LAZY and less than 10% would ever go. I have visited that area several times over the past couple decades and I'm still the only one there. It's a shame people have to make such ugly comments. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Hang in there and keep up the good work.

Your videos make me happy that such pristine places still exist - that you return to the same place two years later to find it still pristine tells me that the people who watch your videos, like me, enjoy watching them for the simple feeling of tranquility and peace that they offer after a long day's work. Instead of saying "Hell, where's that, I gotta go there", we are saying "Wow, all is not lost, it's not only in our dreams that such places exist, thank God". That you actually walk along trails tells me that other people have also been there and yet it remains pristine. But there are people with no common sense who will visit the Garden of Eden and walk away leaving empty plastic bottles, pop cans and cigarette butts all over the place so I am grateful that you keep the exact locations to yourself. And then there are those who are born to bitch. They will even create things to bitch about. Forget about them. I cannot believe that there is a single UA-cam channel out there, no matter what the subject is about, where some folk will not get on to bitch about something. In fact, I believe that bitching is a favorite North American pastime.

These are great small streams you are fishing. For me, even if you shared the location, I doubt I would go there. I see lots of videos where they do share location, but I do not go to those locations. I don't like to travel and solo camp anymore. I know there is a lot of hiking to get to the locations you are fishing, and after breaking my ankle solo fishing, I wouldn't risk it. I watch for the entertainment. I think knowing the state you are in is enough. If I want to explore those states on my own, I can.
The only thing that would be helpful is talking about how you find these places. Are you just taking a chance that they have good fishing? I fish close to home, but in places everyone knows about. How can I find places that are good but off the beaten path?

My view has always been, if it's a major, well known location and river/stream, there's no problem naming it. But if I have to do a bunch of research into access and finding the location to go fishing, the name of the area and stream is staying unknown. It really does seem like people just want to bitch and moan about everything now. I guarantee you those same people probably would have complained if you named the location too.

No one's going there. If they are, they are fish snobs like you. It's just dumb ass trout.

Didn't these nasty commentors have a mamma that loved them? Mine always told me that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. If someone goes through the trouble to figure out where a video was shot, they probably would have found that spot on their own eventually anyway. There are not really any secret spots anymore anyway. Google Earth fixed that.

Only 5 % of fishermen will hike as far as Drew does.

Locals 😢 cry. Your fishing in some pretty remote and isolated areas. Your bushwhacking and hiking into the areas you fish. Yeah sure some might do it , but not to many.

Your 1 million views didn’t harm the stream because you are a good dude who doesn’t hot spot.

Cut the fly off in the bend so you don’t stress the fish, only one take per stream , 3 streams per state only once your leader needs new tipit you are done for the week, no casting to feeding fish.

I doubt if more than two or three if that fished that stream since you were there last. Most will not walk than a few yards away from the car.

The only people who know where your videos are located are people who have already fished there. Too many crybabies on here. There is no harm naming the stream if it’s a well known fishery like the Madison or South Platte. Everyone knows them anyway. There is no harm videoing a smaller lesser known stream as long as you aren’t naming it. You do good work, pay no mind to the trolls and crybabies.

Would the experience be the same if as you walked along that path you encountered. 25 or 30 other people? The path is there, obviously, because others have been there before you but they have left little evidence of their passing. As more people go there you will begin to see trash and places where some have taken a dump and left their toilet paper. And you’ll see more fire rings. The fish population will get smaller along with the average size of the fish. How do I know this? I moved to the mountains of western Colorado from Ohio in 1974 and NONE of the wild places I once frequented have been made better by being advertised, attracting more people. This degradation accelerated with the advent of the computer. You may not be there to witness this process but I assure you that it will happen. If you truly love wild places you would avoid doing things that make them tame. Also you should realize that it is the locals who are the first to know when some logging or mining company begins to talk to the Forest Service about some extraction plan they have or some developer wants the water from a stream. Not people who live in a city hundreds of miles away. They are the watchdogs of these ever fewer places you enjoy but can’t restrain yourself from pimping. Of course they want to protect something of such beauty from destruction. I find it odd that you don’t. Or, if you claim you do learn to keep silent. Otherwise you become an agent of the very destruction you claim you don’t want.

Nobody who hasn't been to this stream is going to find it from this video. Those who have been there and are interested in fishing already fish it. He doesn't say where he is. He's sharing his passion for fishing, not "pimping" any specific locations. I understand your frustration with the degradation of fishing locations--I've experienced it here in the CA Sierras. But Drew's not the issue.

You spend three days there out of the entire year and you’re commenting on how much fishing pressure it gets? How would you even know?

He can only speak from his experience--that he hasn't seen a lot of people fishing there when he's visited. All those complaining that he's ruined the stream have absolutely nothing to base that on. Just envious trolls.

the Bull Trout spot in MT is my favorite area/river. It was a great vid and it brought back great memories. my friend and I were there once and he had a bull latch onto the cutty and didn't let go and swim away until he he had it reeled in at our feet. @littlewildtrout ditto
