Wow! It's so thrilling to hear my guru, the late Sri T N Bala's composition Vilayada idu nerama in Shanmukhapriya raga, sung so well. Sri Bala was very happy that Sangeethakalanidhi Sri Maharajapuram Santanam and his sons had sung this kriti at several of their concerts, and a few other famous vocalists had also sung it. But it was his fervent wish and hope that many more good vocalists would sing a few more of his compositions also. (There are about 420 compositions of Sri Bala, Mrs. Susheela Bala had told me during a class.) Like Sri Purandaradasa's compositions rich in meaning and noble thoughts, Sri Bala's compositions, most of them on Lord Muruga, are also very rich in meaning expressed in mellifluous Tamil. Thank you so very much for singing this song in such grand manner, and also for uploading this video. How I wish Sri Bala were alive to listen to this; he would have been very happy to hear this. Shanmukhapriya, a very beautiful raga is the 56th Melakartha which belongs to the tenth Chakra, Disi (Direction) Chakra - 10 directions in all - including Akash and Patal. Dikshitar school had a different name called Chamara for this raga. In Mind, Body and Soul Chakra - Chakra 10 is higher Mental Chakra connected to the higher mental planes and rules special thought. It helps to bring in all levels of wonderful information. Universal knowledge is stored here. This raga has the effect of sharpening the intellect of the singer as well that of the listener. It instills courage in one’s mind and replenishes the energy in the body. This major versatile raga which renders a very pleasing effect is suitable for singing and listening at all times and encapsulates almost emotions or rasas namely,Bhakthi,Shringara,Karuna, Atbudha, Hasya.Handled as a main raga in concert with elaborate Alapana, and Manodharma Swaras. I heard them for the first time during 2018 December season in Vani Mahal, Chennai. Have become a die hard fan ever since
I heard them in 2011 in USA. These guys are brilliant like Ranjani Gayatri

Most Beautiful and Blissful Rendering. !!
Born to enlighten music. Hope in India and its culture is not lost. Governments must take their advice as to how to foster music and fine arts.
Why is this song only 4 minutes?
This should be at least 20 minutes.
Thanks Trichur Brothers for this. But this song deserves at least 20 minutes.
Closely follows Maharajapuram rendition. Good improvisation without losing the original flavour
