Just my review n experience with my himo z20.
Been using.for almost 19 months now
    Daily use from 20-50km route
    My weight is 103kg
I only use it on highest power and only release the throttle once going above 20-22km
    I deliver food /grocery/
Very often carrying above 8-15kgs of load
Built good and excellent battery slow but good torque even when loaded
Make sure you give atleast 20-30mins of break for the battery before recharging it
Never plug the charger when bike is turned on
Never use anything above 42v 2a current charger to charge it
Occasionally discharge the battery to last bar! I.know it sounds stupid but yea
Make.use.of.the gears it helps over time with battery n ur energy. .
Tire pressure shall alwayd be perfect
Make.sure none of the disc brake pads are not grinding ur disc
Overall good product and im a harsh rider trust me 😎😆

    Nice upload.
I'll get a new set of battery and use that one as a back up.

Hi, I did this video in the winter. When I had 3000km I bought a new battery. But later as weather turned warmer, the battery performed better. Now I have 5500km and still running the original battery. So I have to believe the drop in charge had to be due to lower temperatures

I think quite a bit of the degradation may be due to deterioration of the motor.
I got to 1300 miles and noticed a 30% drop off in acheivable distance and max speed went from 15.5mph to 14.9mph and 12.5mph to 12mph respectively.
I bought a new battery £320 and only gained maybe a 5% distance improvement and 0.1mph max speed improvement.
I would be interested if you are technically minded in a strip down video of the motor - perhaps corrosion is the major cause of performace drop off.
Chinese goods dont use the highest quality materials. ;o)

I suspect new replacement batteries could be inferior to original ones. (sitting on the shelf for too long, inappropriate storage). I don't see any degradation of motor to happen. Although need to ensure terminals and contacts are rust free and clean - in case of rust - rub with fine sandpaper and treat with fine coat of dielectric grease. My new battery arrived, but not in use yet. In January I opted for a bigger crankset with 60T. Now I have to work out much harder, but speed has improved slightly and range too. It is better configuration, because I pedal at slower pace - but far from ideal cycling. At this moment I have done 3900km - 2400miles still running original battery.

@@petriko_ The battery I bought was the Z20 model which released in October- identical except for the terminal angle on the end cap (which is easy to switch to the original version) and an additional fuse on the neutral cable.
So no degradation from storage there.
      All my connections are pristine.
The only remaining source for the loss of performance and distance is the motor.
Try your new battery, hopefully that is the source of your issues, sadly it is not mine.
Every aspect of my bicycle is as clean and better lubed than the day I bought it.
My battery was always kept at 5C or above.
      Never discharged below 25%
Never charged to 100% except every 4 months
Which I would leave it on charge for 24 hours to rebalance the cells.
Also from your statement, I think we use our bikes differently.
I do not use pedal assist mode. I use mode 2 the mid setting moped mode. I pedal to start off and to get up to speed or to assist up hills
I thought about increasing my gear ratio when I first got the bike, but the increase in effort in standing starts for my journey to work is not viable - I have 10 Junctions I have to stop at for my 20 minute ride.

If from the start you would not charge battery full every few days but say only to 75% every day your battery would last longer and there would be no need to change it yet. They degrade when charged to full and if left charged full (for example better to charge in the morning before you leave).

Hi! From the video i can't see where the BMS is stored, could you tell me? I was thinking if it is possible to make a 48v battery fit in this case (13s3p). The only thing that i'm worried about is the position and dimensions of the BMS, maybe is a custom circuit to fit this case... Thanks

      @petriko_  2 роки тому

if you stop video at 2:30 there is a circuit board stick to the bottom of battery pack, maybe 1x3cm

@@petriko_ Thanks for the reply. I think that the circuit at 2:30 is only the battery level indicator. If you watch the same frame at 2:30 you'll see some small cable (black, red, yellow, green) connected directly to the battery, those cable should be from the BMS... at this point i guess that the BMS is stored somewhere on the side or in the top of the battery

How would you DIY a generic battery from eBay to fit inside the shell cover of himo z16 inorder for it to then slide inside the bike frame?

    • @petriko_
      @petriko_  2 роки тому

You need only to wire positive and negative wire from new battery to terminal 2 and 5 on the shell cap. I don't have much time now, so last week I have ordered original battery to keep things simple
