You can actually reference that conversation in the epilogue too. That was one of the more well done companions and certainly one of the more well written conversations. Just wish there was more of it's like.
I'm glad that they made up for Grunt being so two dimensional, however I was definitely disappointed with EA's new habit of rushing games like they have for the last few years
Yeah this scene is pretty much the only one that actually "works" for me.It tells a lot about the character and relates to the protagonist as well. Shame Ryder is such a brick who never seems to be phased by anything.
I was fine with how they did Grunt. He was the equivalent of a teenage boy, with all the shenanigans and teenage angst that goes with it, so I didn't expect too much depth out of him.
drack is the best grizzled-veteran character too. my other favorites would be zaeed, anderson, and the efvra. we need more rough and tough old dudes. i hope ryder ends up being a rough and tough old dude. like 40 years later, the kett return en mass. meanwhile my son with cora, draks great grandson, and dr. kennedys kid have their own squad. ryders old and has a beard, a few obvious cybernetics of his own (you know in addition to sam). he calls them all kid, and saves them twice. they eventually end up saving him once in a dire situation, ryder replies "dont get cocky kids, you still owe me one"
This scene really hit me hard. Before this happened I was used to seeing Drack as this badass juggernaut and the old veteran I listen to because you can't beat 1000 years of combat experience. And then this happened and we see the toll it took on him......it hurts seeing him like this.
I like the differences with Wrex, Wrex was older one who gives on his race and himself travel in the Normandy taught him he can do better for himself and his race giving hope, passing to consider Shepard like a brother Drack was already there Kesh gives him hope he is a little grumpy sometimes but he knows the Krogan must change because he already live the consequences on himself Trusting Ryder even when he was too green passing to be his cool grandad
wow... Drack is wonderful written here and acted! As well Lexi. with all the bugs and complaints it means a lot to see something work well in the game! I know the game creators wanted to make it better then it came out as and here a good glimmer of that intention.
honestly, I think if they cut the open world, the story would be awesome. I mean, it is, but there is just so much "whatever" between the well written parts. I'm planning on doing a new playthrough without side missions, focused on the story. I expect to be amazed.
I wish Lexi was modeled after Natalie Dormer instead of having a generic face. I would of also liked to see more of Lexi and Drack as a couple. Along with more cut scenes between them. Lexi and Ryder should of been able to create a stronger friendship too.
Imperialist but less depressed (post-Rachni Wars, time of Rebellions). And before that, scummy and post-apocalyptic (post-Fall of Tuchanka). And before that, violent but prosperous (pre-Fall of Tuchanka). The idea of the Krogan is that they're not exactly terrible, but their circumstances encouraged everything terrible about them, and choices they individually made, and with that experience or history, we may or may not be arsed to do anything for them. They were first more violent than most races, then nuked themselves to hell, then fought themselves even more, then gained some respect for defeating the rachni, then squandered that respect by bullying the galaxy to the point of potentially exterminating them, then got biologically and militarily punched back, then essentially sulked for centuries, until in one way or another (which these MEA people are not aware of), shining again in their assistance against the Reapers. Not the best resume, and always reason to disregard or even detest them, but also always enough reason to have hope for them, hope that is continued in some of the storytelling of MEA. (But also some concerning elements.. even if not as bad as previous problems.) At the very least, it seems the writers are communicating that we're done the focus of the Krogan being 'nihilistic mercenaries' (even if those will still exist). They've been more than that before (on both Tuchanka and the Milky Way), and they'll be more than that as we continue. Will what they become be GOOD? Well I think Bioware has a 'pro-Krogan-hope' bias, but I personally hope that there is enough roleplay and creative storytelling allowed to keep this bias from sticking, and instead we get a story with them as a high (but distinct from before; perhaps more depth than anything previous) threat again. I mean, I even hope seeing them return as important enemy units (they barely counted in ME2 with the Blood Pack) in SP and more importantly MP, is a sign of the future.
Krogan are a product of a world where pretty much everything tried to kill everything else. The issue was their culture never had a chance to develop controls on things like preservation of their environment and population control. In truth the uplifting of the Krogan was, for the Krogan, the biggest mistake. Without cultural checks it made the Krogan Rebellions inevitable. Krogan were used to a world that fought back so 'soft' worlds they settled ended up buckling under ecological damage, pollution and serious overpopulation. Drack makes a point of this in MEA where he points to Vorn and Kesh as the future the Krogan need, because they are smart and open to change.
The problem is, yet again they chose a world that is almost inhospitable, with terrible conditions: Lack of resources (food, water, shelter), dangerous elements (Aggresive fauna, brutal weather), etc. So in the end, they will end up depending on their most basic instincts, unless they find a way to throw away their stubbornness and be more technological-minded, like vorn and kresh, not like Okeer or any other krogan scientist who likes to use technology only to make weapons.
Well, Eledeen isn't as hostile as Tuchunka and frankly with the Vault on line it will only become less so. Infact a number of the Krogan in the Colony complain about the lack of hazards feeling it will make the younger generation soft. More to the point, there are indications of a shift in thought. The Krogan are even trying a change in family structures where fathers are involved in the raising of their young and the genders don't segregate to separate camps. The issue isn't just instincts but cultural conditioning. The Krogan evolved on a world that had to be beaten down to survive but when they grew too strong they beat down their own world too much. That was a hard lesson and one they never truly had a chance to develop an cultural understanding off. Sometimes if you beat too hard you kill the thing you are dependent on to survive. The big things the Krogan seem to need is the presence of a mindset to be open to change and an investment in something bigger.
You know, I feel like this conversation honestly probably would have fit a lot earlier in the game than it being likely to trigger. The stuff about parents being the starting line, not the finish line? That feels like something for Ryder early on dealing with their father's shadow. Too bad, really, but it is an awesome and great scene regardless. It's the kind of emotional scene that while we got close to, we never really reached with Wrex or Grunt. We had emotional scenes with them, but it was a different kind. This is a lot more personal, and dare I say intimate?
This game has its well deserved criticisms. Yet I enjoyed the fluid combat, the exploration, tough choices and companions. Especially Drack. He's so well written .
Character interactions in this game were honestly the best in the series. We really didn't get that in the OT until ME3. Glad they continued with it in Andromeda. I like how you have companions moving around the ship and talking to each other.
For the squeal (assuming there is one), I want a battle droid. We know the Nexus has television so maybe they have their own version of robot wars (battlebots if you're in the US). Our new squad mate is a Remnant/Geth Hybrid game show combat droid who gains sentience and asks to fight for something meaningful
Drack is absolutely right. Life shouldn't focus only on making and raising kids. It's just so... primitive. It's a big journey, mix of different adventures and memories, experience and stories to tell and learn from it, and then teach others from it. What valid and precious you could give to a child, if the only thing you've done is raising it, without any background?
The only thing I really enjoyed about this game was the squadmates. Story was alright and the rest of it was jumping one planet to another trying to complete a quest and, if you care about doing 100% of everything, scanning every god damned forsaken planet.
Hell, considering Wrex biotics I wouldn't not bet against him... Also, if you maximize him during the Citadel DLC, he pretty much goes over 3000 HP and 2400 barrier, without taking into consideration his healing factor during blood rage... Hell, it would be an awesome fight.
Wrex is a biotic. Wrex, with his Krantt, was the last to kill a Thresher Maw before Grunt and his Krantt. Wrex is as old, if not older thna Drack, he survived the Krogan Rebellions, Turian-Krogan War, Genophage. He has no prosthetic whatsoever. Meaning he's still 100% Krogan. A biotic goddamn Krogan. Drack wouldn't stand a chance.
@@justanotherlaid-backdude5297 i think the point hes making is that drack and wrex arent that different to one another so if drack could do it,wrex can too especially seeing as drack is also a biotic
I feel bad for all the Krogan that joined the initiative and came to Andromeda, because they never had a chance to receive the cure did they ☹ Drack and Kesh deserved it
I can’t remember if it was all of them chosen to go or not but I remember a line about that clans genes mutating again to give them a greater chance to overcome the genophage.
I've been watching a bit of Andromeda play through, to get an idea of the story line. I'll probably never play the game though. However that being said, the Krogan that came along on the Arks are still affected by the genophage. Correct? Is this even brought up in Andromeda?
Late to the conversation. Female krogan in Andromeda have a 4% chance to lay eggs since the journey from the Milky Way was over 600 years and received experimental drugs too. Now female krogan lay about 1000 eggs per clutch. That's about 40 eggs that are going to hatch. If anything, Krogan are looking good and why I try to be on their good side. Besides saving Raeka. Sorry krogan scouts 😭 I just don't trust Tann leading the Salarians.
Not Drack romance, silly. Drack is a father figure to Lexi. She misses her dad I'm betting. I feel like she's the only character in the game who actually cares about Ryder and the crew. Clinical or not, she's looking out for all of them.
this game is by no means perfect or anywhere near as good as the original trillogy, but it sure as hell didnt deserve all that vitriol that people gave it
I NEVER shoot Wrex in ME3. Not only Is that monstrous in itself, but to even get that option you have to shoot MORDIN!!!!. Just completely crosses the line.
This game was disappointing, but when it does well it does it so damn well. I wish that whatever happened to this game during its development cycle didn't happen, it doesn't deserve to be the third rate game that it is
The game was nowhere as disappointing as your thinking. Seriously, the game is a hell of a lot better than the bullshit media keeps saying. Suddenly because of bugs, glitches & poor facial animations, that means it's bad? WTF?
I meant writing in general, for the bulk of disappointment. Throughout the game a lot of characters don't seem to take things seriously enough. In terms of game play there's a lot of underwhelming side content and lack of polish in a lot of the open worlds
It's true this game has a lot of filler content. But they are optional. And if you ignore them completely, there are still enough good content left, no less than any of the previous games. They are just diluted in the attempt to drag the game longer.
+shadowstarthe1st, the maximum lifespan for a krogan is longer than asari, asari live a thousand years, krogan can live to be over 1500 years if something doesn't kill them
Im torn between wanting to have a sequel cause I love the game and then not because maybe in the last installment they would kill Drack off. 😔 "I am dying, though." Jaal sputtering. "What?" This scene and that.... seems like Foreshadowing
I find it funny how the human squadmates are the most annoying characters in the game, liam is by far the most annoying character in the franchise. Drack and Peebee are my personal favorites
I actually find Cora pretty well developed. She was feared and alienated for being a strong human biotic and finds more sense of belonging in asari society. Her admiration for her asari commando idol shackled her, making her only comfortable when following a mentor's teaching. But the Pathfinder showed her how to find her own path, when there is no existing way that others have already walked. Cora was not happy at first that the much less experienced Scott/Sara was chosen as the Pathfinder over her, but later admits that it's the right choice because they can walk their own path while she can only follow others. As for Liam... Well let's forget he exists.
I love most of the new crew and think they came out very well considering they came after a trilogy of fleshed out characters. Cora is my personal favorite romance (basically Scott's future wife the way I play), Drack is the "old man" that everyone loves, Vetra is the cool "big sister", Peebee is the "energetic little sister", Jaal is the good hearted best friend, Suvi is the sweetheart, Kallo is quirky nerd, Gil is the smartass, and Liam...honestly I'm on the fence about him as a character a lot of the time but don't hate him.
Jaal and Drack were my favorite, Drack is that old uncle everyone has who is slightly a gun nut and would be willing to teach you all of his old military training, Jaal is just genuine, I love the Angaran way of expression.
Best companion conversation in the game
You can actually reference that conversation in the epilogue too. That was one of the more well done companions and certainly one of the more well written conversations. Just wish there was more of it's like.
xLetalis Just wish the writing was like this the entire game.

Drack is the best companion in my opinion. He is kinda of like a father figure to Ryder. I like that.
Agreed, and he helps encourage the crew at different times.
I see more of a mentor
BioWare has never made a bad Krogan companion.
The 3 Krogan and Tali are my favorite companions in the series
Always gotta have a krogan.
Half krogan, half cyborg and still seems to be the smartest guy on the entire ship ;)
well thats not really hard
well when you got two guys who are bickering cry babies and an idiots who gives classified info to anyone drack and jaal pretty much set the bar.
Not to mention a fangirl who wishes she's an asari
Well, a thousand years of experience should give one a massive advantage
Kenneth Njapa But he also has the shortest lifespan. Salarians only live about 40 years, so they try to do a lot in a short amount of time.

Nakmor Drack as Krogan Pathfinder.
He basically already is. Only thing missing is that he dosen't and never will have a SAM implant.

They cast Natalie Dormer as Lexi and don't let us romance her... That's just mean!
I gotta agree ;]
I would have romanced Lexi because Natalie Dormer voiced her!! :'(
It's kinda the story of this game: Wasted potential!
She definitely should do more voice roles. I could listen to Natalie Dormer talk all day.
and dont give her a diferent face asari are all the same
I wish Lexi was modeled after Natalie Dormer instead of having a generic face. I would of also liked to see more of Lexi and Drack as a couple. Along with more cut scenes between them. Lexi and Ryder should of been able to create a stronger friendship too.
Maybe in future Mass Effect Andromeda games. They set up a lot for future games.
As far as I know its a different union that does the facial modeling, I think that is why her face wasn't modeled after Natalie
This is probably my favorite scene in Andromeda
Krogans are always such great companions in these games.
Wrex, Grunt, and Drack, they're all some of the best characters in the series.
I was nearly crying at this scene.. so freaking adorable.. I want to hug him

i have a feeling he is going to die in the dlc or the next game
I remember before the game was out we were told we could romance anyone we wanted well we were lied too.
I am pretty sure they never said that.
Fuck off Leng, don't you have any vases to piss in?
Say what you will about andromeda, Drack and Vetra were as good as any original trilogy characters and I will die on that hill
I find it funny how the human squadmates are the most annoying characters in the game, liam is by far the most annoying character in the franchise. Drack and Peebee are my personal favorites
you actually can kinda romance drack, but it's more of a joke than anything
I actually find Cora pretty well developed. She was feared and alienated for being a strong human biotic and finds more sense of belonging in asari society. Her admiration for her asari commando idol shackled her, making her only comfortable when following a mentor's teaching. But the Pathfinder showed her how to find her own path, when there is no existing way that others have already walked. Cora was not happy at first that the much less experienced Scott/Sara was chosen as the Pathfinder over her, but later admits that it's the right choice because they can walk their own path while she can only follow others.
As for Liam... Well let's forget he exists.
Drack and Vetra for me. PeeBee is almost as annoying as Liam at times. Cora is my favorite romance.
You all realize that bioware is more than likely going to kill off drack in future ME games right? Drack is too cool and likable so expect the worst
Good thing there won't be any future ME games then.
Drack is one of the most interesting characters, i like him as much as i did grunt. Never liked wrex very much.
Bruh, why
Drack is My favorite but he makes the game Lag like hell
I ship it.
lexi is like the hottest asari n the game, and we cant romance her.....as male ryder atleast
Yeah but when my boy is on the battle field he sure dont show it he's a beast luv kicking ass by his side cora to she beasty to
Old Krogan fetish, anything wrong with this picture?
That asari looks ugly which is doesn't fit with the lore, hell this game is so bad drack is the only good thing about it
