That was 1990. Most of our friends were in our late twenties. Though we were busy with varsity campus activism, we took time to savour these melodious songs. In fact the movie was true to its title.The songs ignited romantic feelings among millions of youth. They made all of us heady and it was very difficult to decide which of the dozen songs was the best. never after a movie had so many songs - each one of them a marvel. Thirty years on - these mellifluous songs linger on in our hearts and minds. Thanks to Nadeem Shravan who regaled us with unforgettable music.

July 1990. Aashiqui got released. each and every shop, used to play this album endlessly.. its hard to believe that the cassette wasn't available in many of the shops for weeks. the movie wud have run continuous houseful shows for at least 10 weeks in a row.

Kumar Shanu became nationwide sensation with the release of this album. This song was so different mainly because of that 🎸 note played at the begining and learning it became a craze. I was around 9-10 when I first heard it wished to be able to play that note once in my life...its been 30 years and the wish is still a wish.
