Buy a bottle of red wine, some brie cheese, some little tomatoes and do a picnic at troccadero waiting for the flashing lights of the tower to start to blink. You ll never forget that. Ernest Hemingway said: If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast. Thats very true
I just returned from Paris and your video helped a lot. I didn't see many homeless people or beggars. I didn't get into the Lourve, we walked around so much getting there and the lines were very long. Im bigger on the architecture than the art. We had a problem with the metro. There are about 20 lines. They are colour coded. There is a dark green line, a slightly lighter green line... etc. The city was clean, street sweepers took care of the dog poop. The food was great. We made reservations. I had a great time. Im going back.
My boyfriend and I just went to Europe for the first time and picked Paris as our destination. I'm so glad you recommended it! It was amazing! Your advice helped out several times, Thanks so much!
Thank you for showing France in your videos as a great country with kind people, and beautiful places to see ! And please do not listen to medias, we're a safe country and we are happy to live :)
My first trip to paris was September 2022 and fell in love with the whole city 🥰 went back in January 2023 and going back again the end of March 😍 ...always do a recap of you vids every time Thank you 🥰
My wife and I went in December. Great weather. I used all the tips in your previous videos :). Amazing people/food/culture/city. Can't wait to go back !
your videos have helped me so much! i’m a 16 year old who will be traveling out of my country for the first time this summer or next summer !!! your videos help so much :)
I went in January and I am really happy I went. There weren't lines. The tower had one, but that was it and I didn't need to go up it. The weather is really mild, so I'd recommend going during the winter, post holidays.
Thank you for the content you put out!!! my school is having a thing next year A select few people are going to visit London and Paris For a whole 8 days!! watching vids like this is very helpful!!
All very accurate. My wife and I went to Paris for 5 days. The biggest thing that surprised us is that it was not very expensive as one might think, even the sit down restaurants that are everywhere were relatively inexpensive. Our last day we had a bunch of euros left so we decided to splurge and go to a fancier restaurant. We got our meals, a full bottle of wine and desert for 80 euros total and that was us trying to spend money. Don’t expect random people on the streets to be friendly but don’t expect them to be rude either. Basically just don’t expect to interact with the locals. They’ll pretend like you don’t exist and that’s fine. Restaurant workers are very friendly, intelligent and helpful though. As an American, you’ll want to give them a nice tip but don’t, tips aren’t a thing there
I don't like going underground there, cause I feel like I'm missing out on so many great views. I actually really enjoyed the hop-on-hop-off bus. It goes to all the main attractions and you can ride on top of the double-decker and it's an easy way to get a good overview. I also enjoyed the water taxi up and down the Seine. I found Paris at the end of September and at the beginning of December is not busy at all. At my hotel, the staff said August is really quiet, but it's really hot.
Joker omg it's just right around the corner from you...I had been a over England twice myself...living in the States...originally from the Philippine islands..
I had a 5 hour layover at Paris once so I decided to take the RER to the Eiffel Tower for a bit to take some pics (got some good pictures of the tower, the nearby streets surrounding it and the river seine) - made it back to CDG with an hour to spare to catch my connecting flight back to Manchester! Next time I go there, I might go over to La Defense and take some pictures of the skyscrapers! Another tip, go off season! Champ de Mars was surprisingly empty and quiet when I was there!
Perfect timing for us. We're in Aix en Provence now but heading to Paris in 3 weeks before going over to Montenegro. Love these vids as we travel. Very helpful getting started in the planning and logistics process. Love the "bring your patience" line. Hope the exercising is going well - Henry 😀😀😀😀🇫🇷🇲🇫
I just got back from Paris! I love France so much and I really hope that Brexit won't make it too difficult for me to keep coming back. Vive la France!
I did not research but i still enjoyed Paris, but i regret not researching for there are more treasures in Paris than just the Tour Eiffel or the Arc De Triomphe .
Paris was the first place I ever traveled (plane and major trip!). Still love watching these videos even if I've been before. Are you putting up anymore vids from Peru? My Dad and I are going in July!
Thanks for the tips Mark! I'll be there in a few weeks. Thanks especially for the tip on the 5-day pass. I'll be purchasing that. Also, I would like to suggest for those not on a budget to take the Paris Champagne Tour. It actually is in Reims but you board a train in Paris to go to the Champagne region. It's 175 Euros and it takes most of a day but all the reviews I see are 5 stars. I figure I'm paying much more than that to fly there and for a place to stay so I'm just adding that into my travel plan.
Great video, the Ticket+ tickets are a great value, but watch out when using them to travel outside of Paris. You can use the ticket to access the RER and go to Versailles but it's not technically valid. You'll have to buy a return trip to Paris for like 8-10 euros.
Hey wolter, I think a wonderful compliment you can give your wife is this: "You know honey, all of these monuments and statues and sites are amazing, but there's one beautiful thing that only I have access to and beats anything I've ever seen, and that's you." XD.
I was there a few weeks ago and I found that the Paris metro was wayyyyy easier to understand than the London Underground. I was intimidated at first, but it was super easy to figure out.
I know I got to see Paris a lot through TV when I used to watch Highlander the Series back in the 1990s (which also filmed episodes in Vancouver). If I had enough money to visit Paris, I'd love to see some of the filming sites.
Thanks for the tips, Mark! Going to Paris during my Interrail trip. Right after Pentecost/Whit Sunday weekend (Google translate had to help me here so I don't know if those are the correct words, haha) so I hope it won't be too busy. But I'm prepared to stand in line for The Louvre ;)
Joyce Heester, buy your Louvre tickets online (even the day you plan to visit) for a specified time and you will not have to wait very long, maybe not at all! I bought mine at 0900 for a 1400 entry and only waited 10 minutes.
Jocelyn Wolters thank you so much for your tip! It's only that European citizens get free entrance. But I still have some time to think about whether I buy a ticket in advance or go stand in line ;)
Omg, I think I actually recognise the restaurant that's in the photo at 2:06. The food there was pretty bad (for France), hahaha. But it's on a very lively quintessentially Parisian street.
I had heard so much about the bread and the cheese. I tried them in different places but didn’t find it that tasty at all. I’m used to soft bread and french bread was like a brick. 🤭
The OrlyVal shuttle train between the RER-B and Orly airport will be an additional 9.30€. If you are flying Air France and have a connecting flight between Orly and Charles de Gaulle, tell your gate agent ant they should give you a free pass to the Air France shuttle bus that runs between the two airports. Chris
Actually I went to Paris for the first time in September 2016. There were literally no lines. We went to Versailles, Arc, and the Louvre and walked right in.
Hi Mark, thanks for the great video, I am going to Paris in March so I am checking all your related videos...quick question, on a trip to Rome last year I used a "Romapass" card, do they have anything similar in Paris, what's your opinion on discount cards???
yes, we have 3 professors leading the trip. It's about French landscape architecture and urban design. my husband was lucky to take it last summer so I tagged along for the last week and was able to help out a little on the administrative level
Hello and great video as always. Are you sure that I can book my ticket for the Louvre museum I'll be able to skip the line? I've read that it's almost the same. Thank you
The line is for the security check, after that, there are almost no line to buy a ticket. There are two main entrances - under the pyramid and thru mezzanine. The line at mezzanine may be shorter sometime. If it rain go to mezzanine!
Hi, I am traveling to Paris for the first time, my wife and I are going for our tenth anniversary. We have learned so much from your videos, with that being said. What district would you say is recommended to stay in Paris? We have reviewed them and most have ups and downs. Something safe, within reasonable budget, and easy access to metro. We appreciate your reply! Thank you
Going to Paris for 9 days. Is the weekly Navigo Découverte better than the carnet set of passes? Its only 27.15€ compared to €16 for 10 tickets. We plan on going to Versailles and FountainBleau.
Hi Mark, I'm from Australia and a frequent flyer for work. I had points that were expiring so the best value for money and points was to book a 16 day gapped return flight MEL to LAX to travel alone. My question; when I normally travel I do a lot (I had planned to do LA, Chicago and NY for this trip), would you suggest doing the lot above (seen them before) or, as I've seen others suggest, do the full time airbnb in LA or NYC so I can live like one of the locals? What are the pros and cons?
Do you have any advice on the Parisian "dress code," esp. for men? I do understand that it's a tad dressier there, on a day-to-day basis, and that fashion in the city has some unique "knacks" to it. Not that I'm some kind of dandy, but there are enough "ugly American" stereotypes about, without me showing up to Charles de Gaulle Airport looking like a bum . . .
you can watch is dress code in europe video also for shoes try to stick to casual/practical street shoes or runnings (not fancy ones) avoid any other kind of basketball shoes or the infamous socks+sandals that is the staple of german tourists in summer also avoid wife beater tank top and cowboy hat apart from that wearing trainer pants and jacket as casual clothes is also not really something common in europe avoid these and the affor mention waistbag and you should be fine edit: also avoid things with french text that make no sense written on it but this one kinda obvious
Torch if I don't have an American flag on everything, How will you know that we saved France in World War II? I hope you know I'm kidding, I love the American flag, and if I lived in a country abroad, I would still have an American flag on like everything, but the thing is, here in the United States a lot of people from outside the United States, and descendants of immigrants, which is most people in the United States, we have flags from other countries everywhere.
Adam Hovey I know you commented this 1 month ago- but I was happy to read that you have pride showing/carrying our flag. So many Americans hate their own country now, they don’t show any pride and view only the negative. It’s sad. Also hope you enjoyed your trip- I hope to go one day
Hi Mark, I want to plan a massive trip for my family to Europe.I Plan to spend at least 4 or more days in each of the following countries, France, England, Germany/Bavaria, Netherlands/ Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, and Greece. I want to see all the beautiful sights, and the most well-known sights as well as the not so well known but beautiful sights. We want to see holocaust landmarks movie landmarks and other places which you have featured in your videos. So my question is how would I plan this trip and what websites and other things should I use to organize this massive trip?.Anyways keep up the good work on videos and I hope to see your reply to my question
Hey Mark, really love your videos! love the structure and format !! My fiance and I are in Nz and are going to Europe for the first time in August for 3 months! do you have any tips?
If you are using paper tickets on the metro, don't throw out or lose your ticket after entering, because it can be checked upon departure. Also, for three or more days, it's probably worth buying the weekly metro pass -- passport photo required -- since it will cover RER from the airport and back, as well as Versailles -- and it's just easier than the paper tickets.
You're in Guatemala, no? When I went to Paris, I sent my Mum a postcard of the Eiffel Tower saying Greetings from Belgium! Still don't know how that made it through the french postal system...
My tip (and biggest mistake from our trip from last year). Don't try to do the whole Louvre in a day! (Yes you veterans can start laughing at me now!) We went early on the day it's open late, and my wife and I LOVE that kind of stuff, but after about the first 7 hours your feet feel like they are going to fall off, your eyes glaze over even though you're looking at one of the greatest Renaissance Masters of Sculptures of Antiquity, and all you just want is to sit down and have a croissant. I think something like 4 hours a day spread over 3 days would be FAR more enjoyable, maybe a wing a day (the Paris Museum pass rocks!). Just a word of caution to any super excited first time visitors (to Europe in my case)- learn from my laughable mistake!
That is quite the different locations. Each has their own cool stuff. Your European stops are all connected by cheap flights so you could see more than one of them on a trip that way. But all are good. I am visiting three of them this year.
If you go to Scotland, go in August. That's festival month in Edinburgh. You can see the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Make sure you get your tickets well in advance. I'm taking a group to Greece in June and Paris is July! I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one you pick.
Nice video Mark :-) Watch out for String men with woollen thread at "Sacre Coeur" surrounding tourist to tie the band and demand payment for that...Had to part with 10euros :-( Also group of girls near Eiffle tower, who ask tourist to sign a petition hiding amount column and demand payment...luckily escaped Louvre Museum sell tickets until 5 Pm, and museum closes at 6 pm but tourists are evacuated by 5:30 pm...lucky enough to catch few glimpses of main attractions...please go inside by 10 am Not to panic,if ur 3/5 day pass gets crumbled and ur unable to access...u can go to the ticket counter and Request for a duplicate ticket!! Paris is a beautiful, gorgeous, amazing place with vast architectural wonders and I wish to visit again with my family... Request you to do a video on Paris DisneyLand :-) Namaste :-)
+Deepa K great stuff!!! I was at Disneyland Paris like 15 years ago and had an actual nice time. Better than I had at Disney world with my boys but it was mostly because it was empty that day. Christmas day and freezing cold
Wolter , planning a trip to Paris and Rome for one week each for our wedding(Paris)/honeymoon , just my fiance and I. Your videos have been so helpful so far and we still have some more to watch. I was wondering where you got that jacket? I am a similar build and love the look of it!
No low season is not true. October/november unill februari is everywhere low season. Ofcourse there is always a line, but in that period it is easy to do. My tourguide in Rome said if you come in november there are hardly any lines. That is the same in evey big city. (except the holiday season ofcourse)
I am French and I live in France but every time I see one of your videos on France, I want to visit France.
Comment sont les problemes avec vos Muslim? paris est-elle toujours paris?
+David Meusnier because you have an amazing country!
Un beau pays dont les merveilles ne sont pas uniquement dans la capitale ^^
Luc Feuillerat Très vrai! La capitale est belle certes, mais le pays tout entier est magnifique!
David Meusnier lol
Buy a bottle of red wine, some brie cheese, some little tomatoes and do a picnic at troccadero waiting for the flashing lights of the tower to start to blink.

One tip! Near notre dame, along the seine is an art store that the impressionists bought their supplies at!! Definitely worth a visit
I just returned from Paris and your video helped a lot. I didn't see many homeless people or beggars. How is weather in France in month of January
How come when I type in Paris, in UA-cam, this was the fourth down, and the three other ones were The Chainsmokers?
Do the lines for the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre get smaller later in the day?
Also by the way you should go to Hawaii, particularly Maui and do some vids. I'm a Maui freak!

+Belinda Stevens yes wander. But watch out for kids throwing firecrackers. I remembered that part quite well:)
Wolters World Haha will do. Im from Australia. I'm used to worse 😊
Visit Cypris, please :)
Best tip, visit paris from spring to autumn. Paris sucks in the winter.
Going to Paris for 9 days. Is the weekly Navigo Découverte better than the carnet set of passes? Its only 27.15€ compared to €16 for 10 tickets. We plan on going to Versailles and FountainBleau.

Not that I'm some kind of dandy, but there are enough "ugly American" stereotypes about, without me showing up to Charles de Gaulle Airport looking like a bum . . .
If you want to be like the Parisians, you have to wear a scarf and short coat.
you can watch is dress code in europe video
also for shoes try to stick to casual/practical street shoes or runnings (not fancy ones) avoid any other kind of basketball shoes or the infamous socks+sandals that is the staple of german tourists in summer
also avoid wife beater tank top and cowboy hat
apart from that wearing trainer pants and jacket as casual clothes is also not really something common in europe
avoid these and the affor mention waistbag and you should be fine
edit: also avoid things with french text that make no sense written on it but this one kinda obvious
Dimitar Handzhiev oh dope, I'm already there
Torch if I don't have an American flag on everything, How will you know that we saved France in World War II?
+Bucky Barnes sadly no. I crash every time I ride... So I don't ride anymore :)
Patrick Haare thanks for the tip! why less traffic, are less people visiting in the summer months?
I walked 23 kilometres in one day in Paris. Was only a 2 night stay and I feel like there’s tonnes more to see.
Please please PLLLEEEEAASSSE got to Israel. I'm going there next summer and have no idea what I'm in for.
+Michael Haley we are debating on it for thanksgiving. It is on the list though.
Hey Mark, really love your videos! love the structure and format !!
My fiance and I are in Nz and are going to Europe for the first time in August for 3 months! do you have any tips?
Watch all his videos:)
+Nikita Turner we have lots of videos out there. Search for the love and hates for the places you are visiting as those are good starts.
i feel a sense of deja-vu, is this a reupload of an old video?
+technojunkie123 we have filmed at this location but it's not a reupload
Is the Paris Pass better than buying separate tickets for each museum?
If you are going to see a lot of museums it can help out.
You should choose what you really want to see. a lot of sites are free to acces.
I think you don't want to spend your days in a dusty museum in Paris.

Great video!! Btw, how´s your diet going? Your face definitely looks so much slimmer already :))
+Maxima Mustermann this is an older video. Jan through March was good. April I've stalled. So hoping may the pounds start coming off again
Yes, the Paris Museum Pass is so worth it. As a bonus you get to skip the long lines too!
???? You can do the Louvre in a day.
Im trying to plan my trip for next year Im between Hawaii, Paris,Scotland or Greece.... I have no idea where to go.
Justine Hietkamp I love Maui to death. Been 4 times. If you're in the mood for the islands Maui is the best choice.
Only you can decide that. Depends on the time of year and what you like to do. Do your research and choose. They are all great!
Another tip: when you're an EU-citizen under 26 years old all museums are for free including the Louvre and you can skip the long lines
The D in canard is silent, as is the S on plural words. Kah-Nar. Freet. Bah-get. :)
Nice video Mark :-)
Watch out for String men with woollen thread at "Sacre Coeur" surrounding tourist to tie the band and demand payment for that...Had to part with 10euros :-(
Also group of girls near Eiffle tower, who ask tourist to sign a petition hiding amount column and demand payment...luckily escaped
Louvre Museum sell tickets until 5 Pm, and museum closes at 6 pm but tourists are evacuated by 5:30 pm...lucky enough to catch few glimpses of main attractions...please go inside by 10 am
Not to panic,if ur 3/5 day pass gets crumbled and ur unable to access...u can go to the ticket counter and Request for a duplicate ticket!!
Paris is a beautiful, gorgeous, amazing place with vast architectural wonders and I wish to visit again with my family...
Request you to do a video on Paris DisneyLand :-)
Namaste :-)
+Deepa K great stuff!!! I was at Disneyland Paris like 15 years ago and had an actual nice time. Better than I had at Disney world with my boys but it was mostly because it was empty that day. Christmas day and freezing cold
Thanks Mark :-) Did u go on rides - with cold winds waiting to strike ?
Wolter , planning a trip to Paris and Rome for one week each for our wedding(Paris)/honeymoon , just my fiance and I. Your videos have been so helpful so far and we still have some more to watch. I was wondering where you got that jacket? I am a similar build and love the look of it!
No low season is not true. October/november unill februari is everywhere low season. Ofcourse there is always a line, but in that period it is easy to do.
My tourguide in Rome said if you come in november there are hardly any lines. That is the same in evey big city. (except the holiday season ofcourse)
Guys, if you use RER you need your ticket to enter the train, and you need your ticket to EXIT the train:)
+Dimitar Handzhiev excellent addition.
careful, some thoroughfares which appear to be sidewalks are actually streets. they get mad when they almost run you over
You remind me of captain chaos from the (cannon ball run movie) 😊briĺiant review tho.👌
