Take a Slow Boat to Luang Prabang Laos along the Mekong River
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 сер 2023
- Embark on a mesmerizing journey down the mighty Mekong River as we cruise towards the enchanting city of Luang Prabang, Laos. The Slow Boat adventure begins as we board our traditional wooden vessel, ready to immerse ourselves in the tranquility of the river's gentle currents. With each passing mile, lush greenery and picturesque landscapes unfold before our eyes, offering a glimpse into the timeless beauty of Southeast Asia.
As we leisurely drift downstream, the rhythm of life along the Mekong unfolds around us. Local villagers go about their daily routines, fishing along the riverbanks or tending to their fields, while fishermen skillfully navigate their longtail boats through the water. Along the way, we'll make stops at quaint riverside villages, where we'll have the opportunity to interact with locals, sample traditional cuisine, and perhaps even browse through bustling markets filled with colorful handicrafts.
But the true highlight of our journey awaits us in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its ancient temples, colonial architecture, and rich cultural heritage. As we approach this historic city, the silhouette of golden stupas and temple spires comes into view, casting a magical aura over the landscape. Our Slow Boat adventure may be coming to an end, but the memories we've made along the way will linger long after we've reached our destination. Join us as we unravel the mysteries of the Mekong and discover the timeless allure of Luang Prabang.
I was not sure what to expect with the slow boat but I am so glad I did it. If you are going to Laos from northern Thailand It is definitely the way to get there.

Luang Prabang, you got to go there just for the name! Great vid, brought back lots of memories!
Yes l really liked Luang Prabang I spent the most time there while in Laos
Unfortunately the weather was not good most of the time and a lot of things closed or just not running. I will definitely revisit Laos 🇱🇦
Thank you for traveling to Laos I hope you will be impressed by this trip Lao people welcome everyone
Laos was so beautiful it was like stepping in to a picture. 🥰
This looks so interesting.Laos is somewhere I would love to visit one day.
You really should it is so beautiful and cheaper than Thailand!!!! I would check the weather before hand though as the rainy season is not ideal time to visit.
I was wondering about the insects in your room .I would have run a mile .one day I will tell you a story about the insect population of the Seychelles ,it’s probably still talked about at the hotel even though it’s 44 years. ago 😀
I don’t normally find it too bad now but that could be just because I have been travelling for so long I don’t notice them so much!?!? When I stay in accommodation in more built up areas there tends to be less wildlife about. But as soon as you head into the countryside a bit there are more. Yes I have been bitten but I just put tiger balm on the bites and it’s not too bad.
The worst place I have been for bugs was Fraser Island in Australia 🇦🇺 strangely enough. I did get bitten quite a lot in Laos 🇱🇦. When I was wait for the bus in Laos I got chatting to a girl who was recovering from Dengue fever!!!! It took her a week to get over it.
That food looked amazing! Lovely Laos, must get there one day.
Yes I was ver lucky with the slow boat thankfully the rain stopped and we had a wonderful trip 🥰 Laos 🇱🇦 I’d so beautiful in the sunshine ☀️
Great video!! Thank for the detailed info, I am looking at doing this trip this Oct, so I now know what to expect.
Glad it was helpful! You will love it. The weather will be better by then as well. 😃
: ) great fun !
Yes it was wonderful 🥰
Sonja omg, it looks absolutely beautiful, l love watching your adventures, and a big plus l get to see other parts of the world, love from your Aussie friend xx
It was so beautiful. I’m so glad I did it. 🥰
Love your videos. When exactly were you in Laos? We would like to avoid the rainy season. Did you carry cash and if so which currency and did you take and did you use an ATM? Your packing advice is very useful. Thanks
I was in Laos end July beginning of August. The slow boat was fantastic. The scenery is some of the most beautiful. I used the ATM’s to withdraw currency. It is a closed currency country, which means you cannot get any Lao money outside of the country. And if you leave the country with Currency, you cannot change it into any other currency if that makes sense?
I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos. Thank you for watching 🙏🥰
Pretty and that was a pray mantis in your bed 😂
I was not expecting to be sharing my bed!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Love ur British accent 😊
Thank you where are you from? 😃
@@nanwithabackpack I used to live & work in Dubai with lot of Brits for years lol.. I am from Sri Lanka , side question how many days did you do in Laos in total ? Planing to visit in April but also thinking of Azerbaijani 🤪
@@surede not as long as I wanted unfortunately. The weather was not great when I was there so cut my trip short. But definitely plan on going back. It was so beautiful 😍 definitely worth going.
@@nanwithabackpack just booked hotels Vientiane - VV - Luang Prabang total 8 nights cheers
@surede if you can go up to Nong Khiaw it’s so beautiful 😍. I stayed right near the night market in Lang Prabang.
Have an amazing trip.🥰
Sonja, how do you deal with mosquito bites or generally insects?
I have some tiger balm I bought in Thailand it works really well on the bites. 😃
@@nanwithabackpack omg I am using tiger balm for everything at home. I have in my purse in my night table and where I ever can put a bottle. The best is the 4 % camphor , great for migraine and neck pain . Never though for mosquitoes! Lol.
Not sure what % mine is I will have to check.
Gorgeous views ❤️
Yes it was so beautiful like stepping into a photograph.
