The nice thing about earthen structures is how consistently thermoregulated they are. In winter a little heat goes a long way and in summer or hot weather it's pleasantly cool. It's very impressive how much energy you put into these builds using all natural materials. Your dog makes the build the cherry on top.

Two things are certain in UA-cam bushcrafting videos- Canine companions and cooking on a fire or a stove

Its mainly for protection, not companion.

His Dog has a special job to do. We might not know what it is but that pup is doing it well. It's certainly man's best friend in a situation like this, there to alert and protect you in a dangerous encounter.

The new UA-cam trend that teaches you to show parts of the video at start ruins it for me. I sometimes try to skip over that part, but most of the time I see the end result before I watch the video and I don't feel like watching the video anymore. It's what happened to this video (writing this comment at 1:02, before clicking away)

Amazing project...but I´d like to know how that structure reacts to a heavy rain weekend...I tend to think that the floor would turn into a pool too easily. It´s the biggest CON I find to take advantage of the terrain profiles. Water always find the way if you don´t give her an alternative path.

A very enjoyable video. It's one thing to be able to build and craft structures like these on your own. But then to have to be your own videographer on top of it all. Wow.
Reminds me of Les Stroud when he did the behind the scenes episodes. He sets up the camera walks to his spot and walks through the shot and goes back for the cameras. His camera equipment freezing and leaving some stuff behind for the crew to come back for

This is the first bushcraft video I've seen someone get hurt but I respect the fact you kept the clip in the video cause it shows that this hobby is as dangerous as many others if not more. Be careful and I hope you didn't injure yourself too bad

It's amazing how the forest provides all the person needs . Best shelter so far . Good work bro
Other than meat the forest is short on food
@@george2113think the forest is short on metal tools and a plastic sheet to use as a roof, you can prolly find the latter in the ocean though

Well forest gives you something you would survive with don't expect much but gives a big amount of peace of Mind
if you are fine with hacking a bunch of trees down then yeah maybe. Modern forests are not nearly as plentiful as they were in the past. much less biodiversity and food.

Nice. I have 2 questions: What is your water supply? Is there a creek nearby? And, with the fireplace in the shelter, how do you prevent a spark from igniting all those dry leaves on the roof? Or did you pack earth over them?

Looks amazing but that fireplace needs improvement. If you have a fire it will suck air from the entrance and create a draft across your sleeping position. If you can create another source of air for the fireplace it will be alot warmer.

it's nice to see how people do things, but I have a few observations
1. the roof, if it is so big, then the walls can be covered or completely removed.
2. as I noticed, the person tends to be careless, I mean not only the injury, but also how the work is going, but covering the roof with sheets very close to the chimney cover is already too much.

With the massive amount of bushcraft content creators, it's starting to concern me that so much of their content revolves around cutting down trees. I genuinely hope that this content creator and others like him are active in reforrestation projects, given their livelihood impacts the environment and their livelihood depends on that environment. I'm not trying to cause a stink, it's just something that has occured to me and I worry it may not occur to enough bushcraft content creators, and those who watch them.

Nice shelter, but I think I would have used dirt on the roof instead of dried thatch, one hot ember from the fire pit you will get warm real quick.
