Ordered mine from Amazon. It was delivered today and I just filled it and placed it in the freezer. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs. I also filtered my water through a Britta filtration pitcher.
@Dwaine Esch thank you so much. I'm ordering mine today to make some smokey old fashioned. Do you recommend regular water. I have water cooler filtered water
Can you store a bunch of the frozen clear ice cubes in a dedicated tupperware container in your fridge? If so, how long do you think they would they last for, and would they still taste fresh and remain clear?
I have. I placed the ice in a gallon freezer Ziploc bag and when I use it, I let the ice sit out for about a minute. Then I run it under cold tap water. This removes any crystalization and comes out crystal clear.
I usually just pull it out of the freezer and let it sit on the counter for 10-15min. Then I’ll work on pulling the whole silicone mold out of the gray container and run hot water around the basin for a few minutes or you could even let it sit in hot water up to the level of the ice cubes. It should pull a part after 10-15min. Hope that helps!
QUESTION - Have you tried throwing molds (spheres, diamonds, etc) that fit the cube space? - I probably buy/try it myself, but curious if its been tried before.
😂😂not stockpiling crap at 4 cubes per 24 hours lol. I bought 4 silicone molds for ice spheres from the dollar general store. 5 bucks each. For 20 dollars I can make 16 ice spheres at once. And I found out if you fill the top mold all the way to the top after filling the spheres....they come out 99% clear from directional freezing.
@@brandonsomerville7604 Larceny is great! I recommend it! If you’re looking for another affordable great tasting option, look for Old Forester 100 proof.
Oh no! I checked True Cubes official website and it looks like they are on backorder there too! It looks like they will start to ship again February 14th.
@@gadgetsyoucrave this guy seemed to know his stuff, so I’ve been making his version. Even made the rich simple syrup and got a cooler to make those ice cubes. They are quite tasty. Cheers! ua-cam.com/video/pdcrJ5V7YKM/v-deo.html
It surprisingly doesn't take up too much room. Once you stockpile some cubes in a freezer bag, you can remove the mold from the freezer to free up space.
Ideally, you would want to take the cubes out closer to the recommended time. This way the bottom base doesn't freeze solid, which makes it harder to remove. I have forgotten it in the freezer before and took it out a few days later. I pulled the mold out of the grey plastic container and let it sit on the counter to make it easier to separate. Hope that helps!
Glad you love the ice mold! If this OId Fashioned is so different, what's your idea of a correct Old Fashioned? Usually I have cocktail cherries and an orange peel, but didn't have any on hand when I filmed this.
I had the same reaction to your old fashion. Sounds like you didn’t have everything you needed. I would suggest you do not make the old fashion in the glass you are drinking from. It should be in a bar cocktail mixing glass and lots of ice to chill it, and stirred Otherwise you get a warm old fashioned that starts to melt your ice. Plus a warm old fashion is not good. Also make your own syrup, the store bought ones are garbage. And a little more precision on ingredients goes a long way to balance the ingredients.
One of my most cherished possessions. Disclaimer, anyone can do this without this kit, but the kit does provide a nice convenience factor
I saw a diy with a mini cooler and ice cube mold the person drilled holes in the mold
I have this and agree it’s great. Much easier than using a open lid cooler which makes more ice at one time.
I'm glad you really like it too! I agree 100% on this being easier!

How do I avoid air bubbles forming in the ice?
So what’s the trouble shoot if you keep it in freezer longer than 16 hours and basin freezes?

I honestly haven't tried that, but it certainly would be interesting to see if it would work! If I end up trying it, I'll report back what I find out.
@@gadgetsyoucrave did you try it out
expensive, how much did it cost when you did the video?
Just got one. But i left too long so the ice had alot of lines on the inside. I overslept. Gonna try my second batch today
Do they look like streaks through the ice? How did the second batch go?
What's the temperature when you freeze them?
The temperature of the water I used was probably between 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit, but I’ve tried hot and cold and I see similar results.

Does anyone notice the wierd shape made of ice at the start?
I know this wasn’t a video on how to make and old fashioned but I hope that’s not how you normally make an old fashioned.

How are you supposed to fit that box in an ordinary civilian fridge?

96 bucks… you’ve got to be joking!
As of today it's showing $44 USD. Not sure where you're shipping to, but that doesn't seem right.
Wait, so you have to time the removal? That sounds like a PITA. No thanks
