    I sew garments, but now you’ve made me want to sew a quilt!

    I purchased this pattern and created a quilt for my son in three days for his birthday. I’m not a quilter, so just backed it with fleece and brought edges around for binding it. He called me as soon as he received it as he was so thrilled with his story I told in the quilt. Wish I could post a picture here.

    I would have used the panel blocks as the top and bottom borders, and cut a square from the focus fabric for the center.

    Seems like a very easy pattern to follow. Just the square would make a cute baby quilt pattern.

    Great pattern to show off pretty fabric you don't want to cut into little pieces. Lots of showcasing possibilities

    This is a brilliant pattern and video!! I’m always looking for faster projects, especially a quilt as you go, but I can think about how this one could be adapted to that process, too!! Excellent teaching skills, by the way !! Thank you!!

    I love this. I have just the right piece of fabric for the centre of this one. I bought it 2 years ago in Norfolk Island of Mutiny on the Bounty fame. I may just have to look hard through my stash for the rest. Then again, I could have a trip to my local quilt shop.

    Love this! How would you quilt it? I’m learning very quickly that free motion quilting (my domestic machine) on a small quilt sandwich is MUCH different than free motion on my beginner Bargello!!!

      Jennifer in my opinion since it’s straight lines in the quilt, I would quilt it using circles or something curvy.

    Wow that was certainly simple. Thank you. Is the design wall covered with flannel? How does the fabric stick so well to it?

      I use the back of a dollar store tablecloth. Works great. Very inexpensive. Fons and Porter have a wall mat, its exactly like my dollar store tablecloth except 10x more expensive with quilter markings. The dollar store tablecloth is picnic red and white squares which double as a grid. Yeah, I have both 🤔🥴

    Would it work with a center rectangle block?

    • @carolg.6838
      @carolg.6838 3 роки тому +1

      Unless you sewed 2 rectangles into a square I think sewing strips around the rectangle would make the quilt long and narrow. But maybe then your sashing strips would go on the sides rather than top and bottom. Make a mini scaled version arranging pieces of paper and see what you think..

    I love this, but sm I the only one who thinks $4.99 for the patter is a little pricey? If a couple of bucks, I would buy, but since quilting is a rather expensive hobby, I will wing it. Every little bit helps.

    • @carolg.6838
      @carolg.6838 3 роки тому +1

      I don't think it would be difficult to figure the dimensions on your own, though I don't think the pattern is expensive and I would like it for the strip sizes and a visual reminder while I am making the quilt. I hate to be confused. I hope you made this quilt. It looks like great fun. This was an excellent class, great teacher.

  • @angiesewtherapy6628
    @angiesewtherapy6628 3 роки тому

    I think I'm confused. She said there were 3 lights and 3 darks but then said 1/4 for lights, 3/8 for medium and 5/8 for darks. And later said just lights and darks again.

  • @robinadams6614

    The pattern doesn't match the example photo. Even after I paid $5 for it, I had to figure it out myself. Pretty easy, just confusing.

      Hmmmmm. I’m not sure what you mean. The photo on the pattern? She made the quilt and wrote the pattern at the same time
