I’m back but we need 2 peak 90s Muppet movies on 4K: * A Muppet Christmas Carol * Muppet Treasure Island Perfect iterations of classic literature aimed at kids. Christmas Carol is the best adaptation of Dickens’ story. Nothing else comes close.
my younger brother and I watched TMNT literally every day on VHS growing up.. he passed away about five years ago, but we have kept the little TV on his dresser with this tape in the VCR in his old room for memory sake… anyways, I so hope this comes out so I can see “Enter the Shredder” scene in pristine 4K. One of the greatest villain reveals in cinematic history.
Rookie of the Year was one of my favorites growing up, but I would have to say that I enjoy The Sandlot more. I'd buy both of them on 4K. The Mighty Ducks trilogy (at least the first two) would be nice to see on 4K too, but I would be happy with Blu-rays that aren't exclusive to the Disney Movie Club. And absolutely yes to a 4K of the original Turtles film...

Side Note: Dick Tracy is not a parody of gangster films. Parodies are not really meant to be taken seriously, but Dick Tracy was meant to be taken very seriously as comic book film. The director was trying to be very faithful to the source, a comic strip. That's why the characters look the way they do.
It's crazy how there is just a GOLDMINE of potential 4ks from the 90s kind of going ignored. Clueless, Dumb and Dumber, Edward Scissorhands, and Ace Ventura are all up there for me on the wish-list. Watching Ace Ventura now I'm like holy shit that's Sean Young!! Along with Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler was also killing it in the 90s and my friends and I would quote the shit out of Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. I treasured my 3 Ninjas VHS and thought Rocky was one of the coolest kids in the world at the time. I wanted to ride my bike to school through the suburban California 90s neighborhood every morning just like those kids. It's objectively a pretty silly movie but that was all part of the charm. The Rocketeer was heavy in the rotation growing up... something about it just clicked for me; it was unique the way it borrowed from classic cinema but never veered away from being family/kid friendly.
COOL RUNNINGS is classic in Canada. Canadian John Candy, it played on CBC at least once a month on Sunday night. I lived in Calgary Alberta for 15 years and actually sat in one of the Jamaican Bob sleds from the Olympic event, the other one that’s from the movie is hung up inside of a bar on McLeod Trail.
Man, I remember my grandma taking us to our very small town theater, I saw Ace Ventura with my cousin while my grandmother and brother saw the Shadow. I think me and my cousin had the better experience 😄
What about Office Space and There’s Something About Mary? I saw Mary in the theater, and I have never heard more laughter than during the beans and franks scene.
Forgot to add this to my comment from the other day, but I think a Clueless 4k release is a very safe bet for its 30th anniversary next year. Paramount has been going heavy on milestone anniversary releases for their major titles, including this year for Mean Girls' 20th. Considering Clueless is just as generational for teen movies as Mean Girls, if not more so, I would be shocked if it didn't also get a special anniversary release from Paramount next year. I am tempted to call it inevitable, honestly.
The difficult part for people like myself. Being around to remember the late 70s classics. Being able to catch all the 80s films and then young adults in the 90s. It also depends on what coast you were on. I couldn't relate to life on the west coast.

We went in avoiding R-rated movies, but I agree with all you've mentioned. New Jack City HAS to come eventually, and throw the music video for New Jack Hustler on there with a Pookie commentary.

I was in my 20's during the 90's... I was team Street Fighter over Mortal Kombat when it came to the actual games.... then the movies came out and I flipped, loved the Mortal Kombat movie and hated the Street Fighter movie. Mortal Kombat is still the best live action video game movie ever made.
In the spirit of this list, if you mentioned Mrs. Doubtfire we need Toys. It's probably my favorite Robin Williams movie and hasn't had any physical media release since dvd. It would benefit greatly being in 4k.
Wow, I'm a Toys fan as well, but does it have a big fanbase? I know I'd pick it up, but I'm sure people are itching for Mrs Doubtfire before that. It's a very visual film, and I agree it would look great in 4K. Same thing with What Dreams May Come starring Robin Williams.
@4K_Kings If you are talking about movies that would be desired by 90s kids I think Toys counts. I watched it a lot renting it on VHS and I remember it had a video game on Sega Genesis. For a Star as beloved as Robin Williams I think there's a market for all his movies even the lesser known ones. It really needs an upgrade from only being on dvd. It hasn't even been released digitally on any streaming platform.
Sadly a lot of those kid/teen/family movies from the 90s fall under the Touchstone, Buena Vista, or Hollywood Pictures banner, a.k.a. Disney. So hopefully they relinquish some of that stuff to Sony for release at some point, but who knows.
