I sure have made hay in Mayo between the showers. I much preferred it to saving turf. There was a wandering vagrant who used to sleep in hay barns when he was passing through. We didn't know his name but everyone called him Split-the-Wind.

Remember making AND carrying hay on the Connemara coast one summer aged 13. I was never a hay carrier before and I've never been a hay carrier since, but, who knows? maybe I shall be a hay carrier once again!
