EU is canon and Disney Star Wars is fake Star Wars. People calling the EU legends, saying Lucas never liked the EU or that most of the EU is bad is a quick way to spot a fake Star Wars fan. Definitely going to do a review of labyrinth of evil at some point. Such a good book.
In recent years, many people have also come out with the assumption that the prequels were universally hated before the sequels, which is absolutely not true.
Cheers young man I’m a HUGE EU fan I have collected many the Dark Horse Comics Tales of the Jedi, have Audiobooks to the Jedi Academy Trilogy, Fate Of The Jedi, Novelizations, the Games like KOTOR 1 and 2, Force Unleashed all these stories have helped me during times of struggle all that said I refuse to call it the L word it was, still is and always be the Expanded Universe the definitive canon. You got a new subscriber the Force is strong with you my friend.
So many great stories that came out of the EU. It’s fun to be passionate about keeping the EU alive and talk about the great stories. Thanks for the sub!
The EU IS MY STAR WARS. At this point though, The EU lives with us, and can only live further through us. Each of us having different ideas and outcomes to our beloved characters and their world. Remember, The Thrawn Trilogy didn't start the EU, it was its renaissance. The EU goes bach to The first comics and novels.
There's always the hierarchy of canon present too. G-Canon (George Lucas canon: the movies always override anything else), T-Canon (Television Canon: Clone Wars), and then C-Canon (Continuity Canon. Official books or video games can be canon as long as they don't contradict canon above it). Everything else is non-canon, like disney's fanfiction, who just decided all of the stuff before them was disposable. And even then, to paraphrase something George has said in the past, it's still just fiction. If you prefer a particular story (like 2003 clone wars vs 2008 clone wars), then that can be canon to you, but the movies always come first. Kenobi apparently did not get the memo on that one.
No, it's actually: G - Canon (George Lucas Canon) C - Canon (Continuity Canon) S - Canon (Secondary Canon) D - Canon (Detours Canon) N - Canon (Non-Canon) TCW/T-Canon doesn't remotely fit into the EU or the films, so, it can't be included in the hierarchy of canon that was present within the EU and the films. Yes, even if it is officially the hierarchy we have, it is wrong and has to be excluded.
@@FMK03 To me, "T-Canon" should mean "Tertiary Canon", because even the "Secondary Canon" fits better through the 6 movies and "C-Canon" than "TCW". Lol
Damn I really wish this was made on the screen instead of the Sequels or the Acolyte. EU is obviously canon, but I will admit I personally did not read most of these books. All the knowledge of the EU, I get from a friend. I don't really like to read books, I get pretty bored & I can't really make the pictures in my head as I read the books, so that's why I prefer movies or TV shows. Bums me out they didn't take the EU stories & put them on the screen. I would've loved that!
You could read the comics for free online, they're a visual medium with art that varies in terms of taste. Take the Star Wars: Dark Times comics and Star Wars: Purge comic for example, the first few issues of Dark Times and all of Purge are illustrated by Dough Wheatley, whose art is really good imo. There's also TFU comic adaptation, which features art by Brian Ching, whose art is equally good.
I honestly wish TCW should maintain some consistencies & connections to OG Clone Wars Microseries/some EU content & Prequel trilogy movies instead of contradicting some of them in the first place, yes!
Those people who write the Expanded Universe off as non-canon or "Legends" as Disney Company (or rather Iger Company) did not read much of the interviews they had with George or just cherry pick it out of context to prove your "point." But I do not think of it that way.
In ny opinion, making them legends is disrespectful to the original authors like drew, james, timothy, matthew, salvator and paul. Making it seem like their work was for nothing since their books arent even apart of the canon anymore. It is still canon to us ofc and is canon in our heads
I 100% agree with you, and I admire your passionate defense of the artistic wealth that is the Expanded Universe! As a longtime fan of many EU books, I stand by your video and your position, cheers!
@DarthPawz A good counter to the "Star Wars: Legends" title disney imposed on the EU is the "Star Wars: Myths" title objectively imposed on discanon and the filoni-verse, since "Legends" is too good for both discanon and the filoni-verse. BTW, if that's the first time you heard discanon be used, then, congratulations, you've learned a new word that will hopefully be used more often and be more mainstream in the future, however close or distant it may be.
Its more like. EU>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Legends
You are so right. I did a Star Wars RP based on Legends why? It had more lore and background. If George said comics and Legends are cannon, it's cannon in my eyes. Sorry Disney and the Star Wars gate keepers.
Filoni also to blame for disneys power grab. The original clone was serve the gap between episodes II and III perfectly. TCW is AWFUL and so is everything else he’s ghost written.
Very good point about the EU and regardless if I like the ideas of the EU or not raging rhino had a gigantic good point on his channel that being if Disney was going with the hole oh George Lucas never saw the EU as canon then why did they say we going to recon the EU then because by saying we Disney are going to recon it is an omission that the EU was canon or at least canon at one point witch is a contradiction on what Disney thinks George Lucas said about the EU apparently not being canon basically I’m saying in short Disney was full of shit when they recon the EU Disney is like oh George Lucas did not see the EU as canon then I’m like then why are you reconning it then because buy your logic your doing what George Lucas is doing and Disney is like shit we fuck up well let’s destroy George Lucas Star Wars what is your thoughts darth pawz
@@DarthPawz but I will just say that remember how you said how George Lucas did not stop the EU stories and 2003 clone wars from being made because he want them to be made well technically where you and I like it or that same logic or similar logic should be used for TCW Star Wars since George Lucas only stop making because he was going to sell off Star Wars to Disney and was forced to cancel the show if you think about it 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Canon is legally and officially whatever the people who own whatever IP say is canon. So yes officially Legends is Legends and Current Disney Canon is canon. I’m not some shill, I far prefer expanded universe material to current day stuff like Acolyte. But we must also be honest and remember that at the end of the day what we as individuals want to believe is canon or not canon is wholly irrelevant because we have no control of the IP itself. In other words. This video is right at heart and wrong in truth
Ever since I discovered your channel, I’ve learned so much about the EU, and I’ve got to say, it’s better than anything that evil mouse ever produced, but I know I’m going to get hate on this, but the one thing Flioni got right, was making the clones have personally’s, it gives them character, but CW 2008 is Semi Canon in my opinion, there are interesting concepts in CW 2008, but 2003 is Superior in every way, it connects the prequel trilogy better, Grievous is terrifying, Anakin and Padme’s relationship are depicted better (which 2008 butchered in so many ways) Anakin doesn’t have an apprentice ( I used to like Ashoka, but now I despise her, she should’ve died in the war) and Finally 03 shows the downfall in Obi Wan’s and Anakin’s friendship.
People are annoyingly obsessed with the idea of a canon rather than the idea of a story being good. I grew uo with the EU the good and the bad. I still have my old books. And then not being connected to new canon doesn't make any difference. Theres okd canon snd new Canon.
Man, unfortunately it's not canon. BUT that's okay. EMBRACE it. Let's take it back. Stop giving current canon any attention. When talking about Star Wars, just stop mentioning anything Disney. The popularity will dwindle down further than it even has. We just have to take the spotlight back with talking about the EU more and not talking about Disney at all.
Ok, I'm going to give MY opinion. I think that it's not enough proof to show George Lucas saying that the series was a perfect gap between ep 2 and 3 but he did not say: this game, this book and comic it's canon and the fact that Disney made this legends is their decision and they are the ones that own star wars and i don't like something that they do but i accept it for example for me clone wars it's like a headcanon in my point of view.( I don't say everything was not canon in the moment) He did not hated them and probably would be like for example star wars visions work.
And what's the problem with calling it legends it's like if you like something from them you are garbage because you support them automatically. What is that! So if someone like something that's different like for example Jurassic world you are an insult of a human because you don't support Steven Spielberg. What does that have to do with it? Well so that's my opinion and I know you said you don't care for the people who like something that Disney created but I don't know I wanted to give my point of view.

The creator of Star Wars also did something else, he sold Star Wars to Disney, therefore, Disney is the one who decides now, that's the only reality, George Lucas didn't write anything of the expanded universe, legends or whatever, which in the end is the same as Disney's, both stories are not made by George Lucas so neither of the 2 would be canon, but only 1 of them has the rights, only 1 was sold the product, and that's Disney, there's not much discussion. Also many of those stories are probably part of Disney's canon, it's just a matter of time, even senseless overrated stories like the "force unleashed" video game.

Hey Darth Pawz, you are omitting a big key evidence about all of this, you are right in part but you are omitting that George Lucas calls the EU a "Alternate timeline" he had mention this a couple of times, there are all the novels in which the story is about what happens after the movies and before like the Thrawn trilogy thats the EU, and other are the novelizations and the stories which fill in the gaps of the movies like the Obiwan book and the Darth Plagueis this weren't made by George Lucas direclty but had the approval to be considered canon, same with 2D clone wars until George decided to do The Clone Wars as the ultimate clone wars story, he didn't say 2d clone wars became "Alternate timeline" now but it was "somehow" implied, George Lucas liked other writers expand the universe, but as an alternate universe it doesn't mess directly with his canon, and from time to time he borrowed characters from the EU and included them in the movies and a lot in The Clone Wars, but for him the EU was always an "Alternate timeline". You are totally right about Disney making all "legends" so they can do whatever they want, and that was awful because even when George called it a alternate timeline he respected it for the most part, thats the difference. The only people now in LF who have similar "philosophy" I believe are Dave and Jon, thats why their starwars looks a bit more like George´s contrasting with KK´s Star Wars like the Acolyte that looks and feels so different from George´s.

In recent years, many people have also come out with the assumption that the prequels were universally hated before the sequels, which is absolutely not true.
The expanded Star Wars universe has always been canon to me. I didn’t like what Disney did to Star Wars to begin with.
I ❤ EU also besides T - Canon (TV Canon)!
Exactly
@@tsunderemerc2963 Neither did the TCW, as it blatantly contradicts G canon.
No, it's actually:
G - Canon (George Lucas Canon)
C - Canon (Continuity Canon)
S - Canon (Secondary Canon)
D - Canon (Detours Canon)
N - Canon (Non-Canon)
TCW/T-Canon doesn't remotely fit into the EU or the films, so, it can't be included in the hierarchy of canon that was present within the EU and the films.
Lol
@@darthlucasfuu I never thought of that/it that way, I think it could work.
Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron, X-Wing Book series and the Thrawn Trilogy. Are ALL canon regardless what Disney says.
EU was initially Canon prior to Fucken Disney in 30th October 2012!
Actually, it’s somewhere around 2014.
EU is always to be Star Wars to me than Disney canon
Let me correct you:
EU is always to be Star Wars than Disney canon
That’s how I’ve treated the EU, it’s always been canon. The Disney sucks and shouldn’t be considered canon.
The expanded universe has always been cannon always has been and always will be
Damn I really wish this was made on the screen instead of the Sequels or the Acolyte.
Darth pawz we need to repair the Star Wars franchise before it’s to late
At least it exists with us still
It may be too late ⏰
In terms of Middle Earth canon I’m gonna state the obvious:
The Tolkien Book continuity = The Peter Jackson Movie continuity
Nothing else matters
Disney shills shitting on the EU saying it’s garbage and was never canon is exactly the same as people shitting on the Silmarillion
Those people who write the Expanded Universe off as non-canon or "Legends" as Disney Company (or rather Iger Company) did not read much of the interviews they had with George or just cherry pick it out of context to prove your "point." But I do not think of it that way.
Legends is a slur
Correct. it is EUist to use that term.
@@DarthPawz I can’t with this bigots 😂
In ny opinion, making them legends is disrespectful to the original authors like drew, james, timothy, matthew, salvator and paul. Making it seem like their work was for nothing since their books arent even apart of the canon anymore. It is still canon to us ofc and is canon in our heads
The EU makes a lot more sense than Disney Canon because Star Wars is always about the Skywalker family.

The “legends” books are 100 percent better than the Disney trash. Not a fan of the cartoons setting canon. They were woke trash anyway.

Correct. the false idea that george never saw it as canon is disproven by Disney retconning the EU.

I’m not some shill, I far prefer expanded universe material to current day stuff like Acolyte. But we must also be honest and remember that at the end of the day what we as individuals want to believe is canon or not canon is wholly irrelevant because we have no control of the IP itself.

The Expanded Universe will forever be the Real Star Wars canon for as long as Real Star Wars fans and George Lucas draw breath

@@mandawarian That is not going to work.
Ok, I'm going to give MY opinion. I think that it's not enough proof to show George Lucas saying that the series was a perfect gap between ep 2 and 3 but he did not say: this game, this book and comic it's canon and the fact that Disney made this legends is their decision and they are the ones that own star wars and i don't like something that they do but i accept it for example for me clone wars it's like a headcanon in my point of view.( I don't say everything was not canon in the moment)
He did not hated them and probably would be like for example star wars visions work.
