Well Monica, Thank you for showing how you teach your lessons with your students and your bulletin boards. The background of your ULS one looks awesome. It's #Goals actually. I love color. I really love your rainbow theming throughout your classroom. I hope that you will have an awesome labor day weekend and an awesome school year. - Dwight
I can't thank you enough for this. My district just purchased ULS about 3 weeks ago and I've been trying to wrap my brain around it and despite watching the professional learning offered on ULS, it just wasn't clicking for me, but this was so helpful! How much time does it take you to prep for a week?
I try to prep the entire month several weeks in advance, hopefully coinciding with a professional development or having a sub that could cut stuff out when kid free. I can get all the printing, laminating and cutting done in a day but that’s not how I want to spend my Saturdays 😂 hopefully I only have to prep next year and then it will repeat to what last years unit is and it will be pretty much the same
This is so helpful. I left the gen ed classroom to work as a TA in a sped school and plan on applying for sped teacher jobs next year. Can you do a video on sped classroom management / behavior modifications, especially with different grade levels? Thanks so much!
Sorry i really don’t video myself teaching. I know some people are comfortable with that, but a poop apocalypse or a child having some big feelings shouldn’t be on camera :)
Putting the materials up on the bulletin board is awesome because you can see the whole picture. I have never done that because I always had one kiddo who would get mad and tear everything off the wall or board. How do you deal with that?
@@user123-ABC-AAA it’s been a couple of years since I had a kid like that, would just tear rip and eat it when he was upset. Lots of laminating and just using velcro to attach it. Or you can paint the bulletin board a solid color so you don’t have to worry about a background (all the main hallway boards are like that!) but I have totally gone months with nothingness on the board too, and that’s ok! Also it’s pretty high up, the shelves underneath are a three cube so probably taller than my average kiddo? And they can’t climb them because the fabric is there.
Hello Monica... I'm a 1st year SPED teacher and will be using Unique/n2y program. I love you idea and do Have plans to use it. However I would love a copy of you lesson plan if that is possible and any and other advice you could share. My age group is 2nd to 5th grade.
Do you save all of the stuff you download? I just started up an alternative curriculum unit on a campus and they are using ULS. I would love to see more!
It’s supposed to repeat the content every 3 years, so I save anything I have velcro on… in hopes that it will be the same! This is year 2 of using it for me
I am a new teacher I am in school at night teach during the day I just learned that I have to use uls but I am so lost. Where did you print out all the materials from?
@@susieelliott2674 you are placed in a grade band by admin, so I have three kids in three different grades using the program, but they all use the same printed materials. You can choose what “level” you want, but really that’s just errorless(1) , words with picture (2) and just words (3)
I have been teaching sped for 20 years, and now am asked to use this program with 5th-12th grader students all at different levels, could you help me wrap my brain around how you would do that in your classroom?
So in theory every 5th would be on the elementary license, middle on the middle license highschool on a different license…. Three different levels of curriculums sounds so difficult!!
Thanks for telling me something, So I know it is not just me trying to figure this out then!I have sinces realized that my district wants this to co-ensighn with IEP more or less, for documentation and showing progress data, even though I can write an IEP and schaffold. @@SparklingSpeducator
Thank you so much for this video. I am mentoring a teacher and this has been a wonderful overview. Would love to email you for some additional advice or tips.
Thank you so much for sharing. I love all of your great ideas. I am so jealous of your organization skills. 🙂💜
Can't wait to be this organized next year! It has been a journey learning how to do ULS as a first year teacher.
Just think how easy it will be on three years when it all comes back around again!

Love this! Would have been an awesome video to see when I was teaching this curriculum! You’re awesome!
Thanks love!!!!
Do you keep the leveled books? What do you do with them afterwards?
Velcro instead of staples and pushpins. YES!
@@user123-ABC-AAA especially the heavy duty garage kind, that’s very hard to tear off 😂
I need step by step on how to use the curriculum, I am new to teaching it. Any video? ty

Awesome! How do you schedule these in a day /week/month?
I let the schedule do it! So I generally have it start the second school day of the month and end the first of the next month.
Do you bind the books that go with the uls unit or staple them? I have them in binders but my students are having problems with that. Thanks!
I staple them!

I also agree that having the bulletin board is super clever.
Where can I find the envelopes to storage the lessons? Thank you

Does Unique provide all of this? Did they laminate some things?
You print and prep everything on your own. But yep nothing from TPT,it’s all from the program.
Do you have a place where I could see every piece that is on the unique and n2y boards each??
Sorry I missed this! Message me on Instagram and I’ll show you the current setup
Do you follow the scripting in the lesson plans?
Generally not! It’s too hard to stay on the lesson plan page but also use the interactive parts.

Try to do just the stories on one month, and then just keep adding a little bit when you think you are ready for it 💜
