Thank you so much for such a wonderful tour of the ship. This is the video I have been looking for. I just shared it with our cruise groups. Thank you.
Very interesting and this was the first celebrity ship we sailed on and it was very new then. The experience on the Apex was somewhat different although some similarities of course……..
In a nutshell, the ship is lovely, the food and service wonderful and the cabins modern and comfortable. However unless there was a great deal I don’t think I would go again. The first third of the ship is reserved for Retreat guests only so it meant there was nowhere in the front of the ship to sit that any other passengers could use which wasn’t very popular. Also if the top decks can’t be used due to weather there is a distinct lack of enough seating to accommodate the rest. If you didn’t want to upgrade from a classic drinks package to a premium you ended up having to pay the extra on top of the $12 maximum you could use. Considering that most/all drinks start at least $18/23 you were paying on top of paying. Also everything is extra and very expensive from shuttle buses (only one was complimentary) to the water in the cabins etc. The cruise was port intensive which I was happy about otherwise I think we would have been a bit bored as there was little in the way of an enrichment programme. There was one speaker but for some strange reason his talks were at 9.15am and the theatre was empty for the rest of the day. I’m sure if you are planning to be a Retreat guest then it’s a different experience. Also everywhere is so noisy….no quiet spaces anywhere. We’ve had a lovely time in all the ports but think we’ll probably stick with Cunard……😊😀
We don’t really know what’s going on with Celebrity, we prefer the older ships to date, the Apex will be the first more modern ship we will be going on, I don’t know if we’re going to like it. Also a lot more people than we’re used to. We will be travelling in the retreat but we feel it’s going to be totally different than we are used to. Get your point about the drinks package, this is where I think Celebrity have got it wrong and the prices of the excursions are way too high. Never been on Cunard would love to go on one of their ships at some time in the future x
@@soditwereretired Management wants to expand and feel they want to address a new demographic. The thing is, people transition into the Celebrity demographic or have tastes for it and RCI and NCL offer more for that demographic. That liveliness noise factor without the spaces, respites to go to and no 1-level elegant lounges (like Ensembles), or no pub, on the Edge, is a big change from other Celebrity ships. Cunard does things I like. More ballroom dancing, afternoon tea, lectures, a pub, libaries on every ship. They have classes too but it doesn't seem they reserve the premium real estate that Celebrity does on the Edge ships. I don't know, the Edge ships to me are trendy and in many ways not in good ways IMO. They almost seem like modern ships that were "Celebritized" rather than ground-up Celebrity ships like the Solstice does. The Millennium class is a Radiance class ship but at least it has a Celebrity feel about it.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did
