Mello was the character Death Note need it, one who doesn't care about shit and commit terrorist acts. Of course he is one that impact me the most, he is like the spice, the direct chaos and action that the series need it. Matt by the other hand MAYOR SPOILER!!!! was just a pawn in the game, metaphorically, The way he left the show tells you a lot about the character, even when Mello was really sorry about what happend he kind of knew, deep inside, that he's end was kind of a possibility, because he was raise in the same way that L, the only difference is that Mello was more impulsive, that's why he couldn't make it by the end of the series, L died because he was "impulsive" too, but because he had no choice, he need it to sacrifice for the case, the next one was Mello and by the end Near collected the fruits. It's beautiful and poetic and that's why I love this anime.
